Chapter 910
Brad kept checking his phone from time to time while waiting for his client, eager to see whether Nadine had messaged him.
But even until noon, she had gone radio silent.
Staring at the empty chat screen, he finally decided to send her a message himself.
"My mind is full of you. What should I do? I can't possibly get rid of my head, can I?"
After sending it, he regretted it a little and considered deleting the message. He stared at the chat screen for a moment and ultimately decided against it.
"Let her see it," he thought. He wondered how she'd respond.
Crossing his legs, Brad waited in good spirits for Nadine's reply. But even after the contract was signed and he had his lunch, there was still no response from her.
Frustrated, he texted her again.
"Do you need a dictionary to reply to me?"
The message had reached her, so he continued waiting for her response. Yet another 30 minutes passed, and she still hadn't replied to his texts.
Brad hated waiting. Finally irritated by her lack of response, he grabbed his phone and called her. The call got through, but it went unanswered.
He tried a few more times, but still no one picked up. He ended up calling Avery instead.
Avery was surprised to hear from Brad. "Didn't Nad go to Hamilton Estate? She said she was going to see Sean. Aren't you with her?"noveldrama
She was fully supportive of whatever was going on between Brad and Nadine, so she didn't ask too many questions. She was even pleased to see how much he cared for her.
Brad frowned. He hung up and called the estate, yet there was still no news of Nadine.
Only then did he realize something was wrong.
He immediately rushed to Rose Garden with his men, demanding the building's surveillance footage to search for her.
The search went on until midnight, but Nadine was still nowhere to be found.
Lucas was hospitalized at Central Hospital. He had narrowly escaped a stabbing incident, the blade missing his heart by just an inch. Though his life was no longer at stake, he needed proper rest.
He had been hospitalized for almost a month, reserving an entire floor for himself. His bodyguards crowded the floor as he feared another assassination attempt.
Worried that someone might murder him at night, he even kept a knife hidden under his pillow.
He had noticed something odd in
Hamilton Group's stock prices, so he took a risk and made a significant purchase. But for some reason, the stocks he bought initially rose and then plummeted.
They were practically worthless now. He had incurred losses of about five million dollars.
Five million dollars had meant nothing to him in the past when Evelyn was still with him. But now, things were different.
Losing five million dollars felt as though he had been stabbed. No, it felt like he'd lost an arm.
As a result, he was in a terrible mood.
Even Quinn, who was taking care of him, tiptoed around him. She was worried that she might misspeak and end up getting beaten again.
As night fell, Lucas began to feel drowsy. He ordered Quinn to help him prepare for bed.
Quinn dared not complain, helping him lie down and tucking him in. She was about to turn off the lights when someone suddenly barged into the ward.
The door slammed against the wall, and a group of men dressed in black stormed in.
Leading them was none other than Brad, who looked menacing.
Lucas immediately became wide awake. Sitting up, he glanced at Brad warily and asked, "What's the matter, Brad? Why did you cause such a ruckus?"
What do you think?
