Chapter 907
The raindrops lashed against Nadine's face, stinging her skin. The pain resembled what she had felt on the night that she finally realized Brad didn't love her.
That night, she saw him holding Jean in his embrace, his gaze dripping with affection. He had never looked at her like that.
Before Jean entered the picture, Nadine had stubbornly believed that as long as she worked hard and treated Brad well enough, he'd eventually fall in love with her.
It wasn't until she saw him holding Jean that she finally understood he would never love her. No matter how much effort she put into their relationship, his heart belonged to Jean.
Men could easily separate love and sex. Even if they didn't love a woman, they could still have sex with them without hesitation.
But when they truly loved a woman, they wouldn't rush into physical intimacy. Only when love ran deep would they take that step.
Later, Nadine forced herself to let go of their relationship and chose divorce.
Who would've thought that she'd end up in bed with Brad again after so much had happened?
This was the part she couldn't forgive herself for. She had resolved never to get involved with this man again, yet here she was. All her previous efforts now seemed like a joke.
Looking up at the dull sky, she once again experienced heartbreak. Just as she willed herself to swallow back her tears, a large black umbrella appeared above her.
Brad's face came into view.
Nadine had left in such haste that she'd forgotten her phone. Worried that she might do something rash, Brad darted after her.
Realizing it had begun to rain, he grabbed an umbrella and searched the streets for her. As soon as he spotted her in the rain, he rushed over and held the umbrella over her.
The dim streetlight cast a soft glow over the ground, illuminating the tear streaks on her face.
For some reason, Brad felt his heart ache at the sight of her tears. It felt as though he'd been stung.
Looking puzzled, he wiped her tears away and asked, "What's wrong?"
In all the time he'd known Nadine, he had never seen her cry. Even when tears pooled in her eyes, she rarely let them fall.
This time, he felt something damp against his fingers. A wave of bitterness coursed through him.
His gentle voice resembled that of a caring husband's, and it made Nadine feel like she was being cared for. She felt a sting in her nose.
Glancing up with teary eyes, she
suddenly felt aggrieved the moment she met his concerned gaze. Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.
"I..." she choked, unable to say anything else.
Noting her struggle to form a sentence and that she could only weep, Brad felt as though his heart had shattered to pieces. He wiped her tears away and pulled her into his arms. noveldrama
"Don't cry. Tell me what's wrong. Did someone upset you? I'll beat them up for you!"
Nadine was stubborn and proud—she never shed tears in front of others. Thus, seeing her bawl her eyes out now filled Brad with concern.
Seeing that she was reluctant to speak, he embraced her and patted her back gently to soothe her.
He would've scoffed at doing such
things back then. But now,
completely natural-almost
instinctive. Even he found this surprising.
What do you think?
