Chapter 39 by Lorelei Thunder
Despite her explanation, her colleague didn’t seem to care. “No matter what, he’s at fault for getting violent! He was sentenced to jail for beating people up, which means that it was something serious. He couldn’t have been a decent man.”
Sasha felt a little upset when she heard that. But then, she shifted her stance. Why would she care so much about Woody’s reputation? He had landed himself in jail. She didn’t owe him anything!
The manager smiled as a cunning look flashed across his eyes. He said, “He’s a jerk who upset our precious Sasha, so he mustn’t join our company. I’ll talk to HR and tell them to remember his name. That’ll do it.”
Sasha’s eyes lit up as she said happily, ” Right! Why didn’t I think of that? You’re so smart, Mr. Dakota.”
The manager was Javier Dakota. He was the son of an extremely wealthy family, and rumor was that his family had assets worth more than 100 million dollars. When he started work here, he claimed he was here to learn. In reality, he was just here to kill time.
Javier was stunned when he saw Sasha for the first time and swore that he would win her heart. If she were an average woman, she would have been easily be won over by his wealth.
However, Sasha was born into a scholar’s family, and her father had taught her the rules of conduct. She knew that she had to respect and love herself. Thus, Sasha had always rejected Javier’s attempts without hesitation.
Despite this, Javier didn’t give up. Instead, the more setbacks he faced, the harder he tried. After all, the forbidden fruit always tasted the sweetest.
He now had an opportunity to solve a problem for the woman he liked. Naturally, he wouldn’t let that chance go by.
Javier was delighted to hear Sasha’s praise. He pretended to be humble as he said, “Oh, it’s nothing. Just wait for the good news, Sasha.
“By the way, why don’t we have dinner tonight? There’s a new restaurant on the east side, and I heard the ambiance is really nice. Why don’t we give it a try? “Javier was quite good at being spontaneous.
Since he had been a massive help to Sasha and had even taken the initiative to ask her out for dinner, she probably wouldn’t be so cruel as to decline.
As expected, a troubled look flashed across Sasha’s eyes. Before she could respond, her phone chimed.
She looked at her phone and silently thanked the universe. “Sorry Javier, but I just got a message from my dad asking me to visit him after work,” Sasha said, waving her phone.
Javier faked a laugh. “That’s too bad. Since Mr. Evans has asked you to go home, we’ll meet another time. Please say hi to Mr. and Mrs. Evans for me.”
He didn’t notice the doubtful expression flashing across Sasha’s relaxed gaze. Sasha was puzzled. She couldn’t understand why her dad had sent her a hotel’s address.
Soon, it was 6:00p.m., and it was time to get off work.
“Enjoy your weekend, guys. See you next week.” Sasha got up to leave.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Javier strode up to Sasha and said, ” Sasha, I just received news that our boss, Ms. Cartwright, is holding a charity dinner the day after tomorrow. If you’re interested, I can pull some strings and get us invitations.”
Without even thinking about it, Sasha said, “Forget it. I’m struggling to stay above the poverty line myself. I won’t be hanging out.”
She had just left when a guy approached Javier with a smile. It was Javier’s right hand man, Jonah Lennon.
“Mr. Dakota, since Sasha isn’t going, why don’t you give the invites to me? My girlfriend wants to go and experience it herself.”
Javier replied in annoyance, “Get lost! Did you think it’s that easy to get an invitation? Do you have any idea how esteemed the Cartwright family is?”
