Chapter 8 No Point in Going Back
Lexie instantly panicked and hurried downstairs to run outside, as the servants were just about to stop her, Diana stopped them.
In Diana’s opinion, Lexie was irritated by the sight of Edith spending time with Alan, which was why she ran out in a negative manner, “Leave her alone, it’s better to go!”
Lexie took a taxi to the downtown hospital.
Fortunately, Grandma was out of crisis and was operated on by a new chief internist.
The old man with a full head of gray hair was lying on the hospital bed with her eyes closed, her weak breathing proving that she was still alive. Lexie knelt in front of the hospital bed, holding her grandma’s hand, tears falling from her eyes.
She didn’t cry when she was forced by her father to marry the Howard family, she didn’t cry when she was spurned by Diana, and she didn’t cry when she was despised by the servants.
The only one who could tug her heart was her grandma who had been the best to her.
If her spiritual pillar collapsed, Lexie would break down.
A knock sounded at the door and she subconsciously turned around to see a handsome young man in a white coat.
“Hello, I’m the patient’s chief surgeon, Kevin, and you’re the patient’s family member, right? I need to talk to you about some of the patient’s condition.”
Lexie was grateful to this doctor who helped her grandma, wiped her tears, reached out and gestured, and gave him a smile of sincere gratitude.
Kevin was stunned for a moment by the girl’s smile, her eyes washed by tears, as if a rainbow after the rain, beautiful and excessive.
“Ahem, you’re welcome.” Kevin didn’t know sign language, but at this point he could understand what she meant.
“This old woman’s condition has only been temporarily stabilized, but a larger operation will be needed, during which you try to talk in the patient’s ear and spend more time with her to ease her emotions and make her less nervous, which will be more conducive to the results of the operation later.”
Lexie pursed her lips and nodded slightly.
Knowing that the other person did not understand sign language, she simply listened quietly the whole time, smiling politely every now and then.
Kevin was extraordinarily taken with this pretty girl at first glance, and made a point of urging some safety precautions before preparing to leave.
But he was stopped by Lexie.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
She took a pen out of her bag and wrote the note IOU along with her name and phone number before handing it to him with both hands cupped.
Kevin glanced at the beautiful handwriting on the IOU, then at her face, and shook his head with a smile, “No need for that.”
He knew that the old woman’s granddaughter was currently having difficulties, so he wasn’t going to ask for it.
But Lexie didn’t agree, and stubbornly tried to slip the IOU into his hands.
Kevin couldn’t refuse again, so he had to take it.
In his heart, he perceived the girl differently, and his good feelings multiplied.
After he left.
Only then did Lexie breathe a heartfelt sigh of relief.
Grandma had a tumor in her head, and because she was too old, no one would operate on her, and she was in a coma for a long time and needed a lot of money to keep her alive.
She learned from the nurse that it was the Mitchell family who had stopped funding Grandma.
With no one to pay, Grandma’s medication would naturally be cut off.
That’s what makes a crisis situation.
Without the help of Dr. Kevin, today would have been a fatal day.
It is evident how ruthless Peter’s heart is.
Only so far, because of the matter of stealing the documents, she had not only offended Alan, but even her father had withdrawn his supply of medical expenses to her grandma.
In that case, what was the point of her going back to the Howard family?
With her father not treating her grandma, there was no need for her to return.
