Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Candice’s expression remained unchanged, and she didn’t respond to Sonia’s words.

She looked at Alex and asked, “When are we leaving?”

Sonia had come with Alex for a leisure trip, and while he didn’t involve her in work matters, he was willing to

spend time with her during breaks.

Candice was just an employee, so she had no right to say anything about how Alex pampered Sonia or how he

was willing to spend time with her.

She would focus on her job.

Sonia wanted to have lunch near a scenic area, and Alex accompanied her.

Candice took the driver’s seat.

As soon as Sonia got into the car, she nestled into Alex’s arms, complaining softly that he went out in the

morning without taking her.

Alex calmly comforted her, “It’s rare to have a day off; get some extra sleep.”

Although his tone wasn’t exactly gentle, it was considerate.

Candice concentrated on driving, but without a partition in the car, she could still hear Sonia acting cute with

Alex.

When they arrived at the restaurant, the parking lot was far from the dining area due to the scenic location.

Afraid of not getting a seat, Sonia dragged Alex to go ahead.

She said to Candice, “Candice, Lex and I will go ahead and secure a spot. Can you join us after parking the car?

Candice wasn’t someone who couldn’t read the room. Instead of going over after parking the car, she found

another restaurant to have lunch.

Sonia and Alex still hadn’t contacted her after she finished her meal, so she had some leisure time to scroll

through her phone. Her WhatsApp account was still on her work number. When she opened the story section,

she saw Sonia’s nine-photo grid, most likely from her lunch with Alex.

Candice took a look; the table was set for two, and the dishes were portioned for two.

She wasn’t even considered.

Candice exited WhatsApp calmly. She was about to go out for a walk when she received a call from Alex, asking her to come over.

He sent a location that was on a commercial street. When she arrived, Sonia was busy shopping.

They were at a jewelry store, and Sonia had her eye on a small pendant priced in the five digits. She wrinkled

Alex said, “If you like it, buy it.”

Candice glanced at the pendant Sonia was interested in; indeed, the quality was good. However, she turned away after a brief glance.

She asked Alex, “Why did you call me over?”

“Candice.”

Before Alex could respond, Sonia spoke up. She gave him a pout and said to Candice, “Can you accompany me to buy clothes? Lex is a man and doesn’t understand anything about fashion.”

It didn’t seem like Sonia wanted Candice to accompany her in buying clothes; it sounded more like she was emphasizing her relationship with Alex.

Candice paused and said, “I’m not good at picking clothes. Alex would be a better choice. He has better taste than me.”

That was the truth.

Even when Candice was with Alex before, he used to pick her clothes. Even now, her style of dress was based on Alex’s preferences.

It wasn’t that Candice didn’t have her own preferences; she just got used to it and was too lazy to change.

However, Sonia ignored Candice’s refusal. She dragged Candice shopping as though they were close friends. Behind them, Alex was responsible for settling the bills.

Candice saw Alex paying for it without batting an eye, including the pendant from earlier,

“Candice?” Sonia’s sweet voice sounded in her ear. “Do you think this is nice?”

Candice followed her gaze to a couple’s outfit. It was blue and white, and it looked very bright.

Sonia was smiling brightly as she asked, “What do you think, Candice?”

Then, she added, “It’s for me and Lex!”

Candice hesitated. “You should ask Alex.”

After she said that, Alex walked in from outside. He had just answered a phone call.
