Chapter 29 The Dispute
Chapter 29 The Dispute
Hearing this familiar female voice, Lexie's back immediately stiffened, and when she turned around,
she saw Edith standing in the doorway in a white coat, looking at her with a high-minded attitude.
[Why are you here?] Lexie froze.
Grandma also frowned and subconsciously held Lexie's hand tightly, swallowing back what she was
going to say.
"Of course I'm here for the internship, unlike you, you don't even have a job until now, just replying old
people." Edith sarcastically spoke to Lexie.
Come for an internship?
Lexie gaped at her in surprise.
Edith did wear a white lab coat from Renhe Hospital, and came in with the medical record book of the
room check, and walked straight to Lexie and grandma, "By coincidence, on the first day of work, it was
me who came to help your grandma check her body."
Lexie subconsciously shielded herself in front of her grandma, looking extremely resistant.
"Lexie," Grandma patted Lexie's shoulder and looked at Edith, without being condescending, "I didn't
expect the second young lady of the Mitchell family to leave the family business behind and run to work
in a hospital, what a promising career."
Edith had a smug look on her face, "It's still the old woman who speaks well, unlike some people who
can't speak and is still annoying."
She arrived early this morning and was greeted by the director, so she was treated politely by anyone
in the hospital.
As soon as Grandma heard this, she snorted coldly, "It's a pity that people with wrong hearts talk about
what medical skills, Edith, I don't need you to examine me, please get me someone else."
"What did you say?" Edith's face changed, "Who has the wrong heart?"
"I am talking about whoever is biting like a mad dog."
Grandma's temper had never been very good, and it was caused by the cold eyes she had received in
her early years when she was alone with Lexie.
Besides, she had seen what Peter and his daughter had done over the years, and if it wasn't for the
sake of Lexie getting good education, she wouldn't have Lexie stayed in the Mitchell family.
Edith at once scolded, "Old lady, it is your blessing that I gave you examination. I don’t have a wrong
heart, you and your daughter who died long ago have wrong hearts. Your daughter is a mistress and
the daughter she gave birth was deserves to be a mute, this is all retribution!"
"You ......" Grandma was furious and couldn't speak as she covered her chest.
Lexie was anxious, helping her grandma to smooth her breath, waving her hand to let Edith stop talking
about it.
"What? Feeling ashamed? Lexie, you are just like your mother and your grandma, you still think you
are something good? I'm warning you, stay away from Kevin, don't be delusional."
Lexie was afraid that her grandma would be stimulated again, so she was about to push Edith away.
"How dare you push me? Let go, what are you doing?" Edith pushed Lexie fiercely.
With a bang, Lexie stumbled and took a few steps back, falling directly onto the hospital bed, her back
hitting the end of the bed, was barely able to breathe from the pain.
"What's going on?" A male voice came from the doorway.
"Kevin," Edith's face changed. She originally wanted to speak out to humiliate Lexie, once she saw
Kevin, she immediately made an aggrieved look, "Kevin, she pushed me first."
Kevin did not bother to talk to her, hurriedly went up and helped Lexie up, "Are you alright?"
Lexie's eyes were filled with tears from the pain, but she shook her head and looked towards her
grandma in the hospital bed.
Kevin knew what she meant, and after helping her sit down aside, he immediately took the stethoscope
and went to check on grandma, "Grandma, lie down first, adjust your breathing, don't think about
anything."
Seeing this, Edith dissatisfied, "Kevin, I ......"
"Shut up," Kevin held his stethoscope in one hand and turned his head to throw Edith a stern look,
"Who told you to come here? Get out!"
As a trainee on her first day, without any training or permission from the attending doctor, she had
come into the ward and bad-mouthed the patient, and when this was over, he would have to ask the
chief for clarification as to who had sent her here.
At last, Grandma's emotions calmed down and her heartbeat gradually returned to its normal
frequency, resting against the hospital bed, with Lexie sitting next to her, holding her hand tightly.
"Grandma is fine, don't worry," Kevin reassured Lexie. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Lexie nodded.
[Is Edith working here? Can we not put her in charge of Grandma?
At the mention of this, Kevin's face sank slightly, "I'll handle this matter, you don't have to worry."
After saying this, he immediately turned around and went out.
Edith was still waiting outside the door, and as soon as she saw Kevin come out, she immediately went
forward to explain, "Kevin, it's really not what you saw, she pushed me first."
Kevin sank his face, revealing a rarely cold look, "Edith, do you think no one hasn’t heart what you said
to Lexie and Grandma?"
There were other patients in the ward and a little questioning would reveal the truth of what had
happened.
Edith blushed, being arranged by Alan into the hospital was so easy that she had just gotten smug and
only wanted to give Lexie a lesson, she had never expected this to happen.
But looking at the way Kevin defended Lexie, she was not resigned but gritted her teeth, "Kevin, why
are you so protective of her? Don't you forget that she's your cousin-in-law."
Kevin didn't change his face, "This is a hospital, she's a patient's family, what does that have to do with
what you're saying?"
A remark made Edith speechless, at once annoyed and angry, she stamped her foot, "I'm going to tell
Mrs. Stewart!"
After saying that, she ran off angrily
Kevin stood in the hallway, frowning at Edith's figure running away with an impatient expression.
They were both the daughters of the Mitchell family, but the second young lady and Lexie were too far
apart. Lexie could not even get out of her grandma's medical bills, so he could imagine how much hard
time she had suffered since she was a child.
Besides, Lexie, after coaxing her grandma to rest, followed Kevin to his section to treat her wound.
With the push by Edith, she got her ankle injured, it actually wasn't bleeding anymore and it wasn't a
big deal, but Kevin still treated it for her.
"Well, try not to touch the water for a couple of days."
[Thank you] Lexie wrote down two words and handed the notebook over.
Looking at the beautiful handwriting on Lexie's book, Kevin suddenly asked, "Earlier, I heard from
grandma that you were not born with your dumbness, have you thought about treating it?"
Lexie was slightly stunned and shook her head.
It was true that she wasn't born with her mute, the fire had smoked her voice back then, and originally
the doctor had said it could be cured, but it had been so many years ago that she had missed the best
time to treat it, besides, she couldn't get enough money for the treatment, so she had given up.
"There's no rush, I'll tell you about this later. Is your back hurt too? Let me see."
"......"
At this moment, the door of the section where Kevin was seeing the doctor was not closed tightly, and
no one noticed that there was a mobile phone outside that happened to capture the image of the two
people alone, framing the most misunderstanding-prone picture.
