Chapter 240
Chapter 240
Tucker's eyes darted through the crowd, searching for Celena. He scanned the room, but she was nowhere to be seen. His face tensed with concern, and he bypassed the customary handshake with Reginald, asking directly, "Is Celena here?"
At Tucker's words, Reginald's smile froze, and a ripple of tension passed through the onlooking Stones, some barely concealing their glee at the brewing drama. What would Celena do then?
He had barely set foot inside and was already on the hunt for Celena, ready to confront her.
Clearly, Celena had crossed a line, for Tucker would not have brought his daughter along if it were not serious.
Caught off guard, Reginald's hand hung awkwardly in the air before he withdrew it, his face darkening. He called out with an intense fury, "Celena, step forward now!"
Always one to blend into the background, Celena lingered at the back of the crowd. Her slight frame was hidden behind the others, explaining why Tucker had missed her. However, before she could make a move, Cheryl's voice, dripping with scorn, cut through the air, followed by the jeers of the other Stones.
"Celena, you think you can just hide back there and avoid this? Get up here now, or do we need to send a personal invitation from Grandpa and Mr. Fabish?
"Look, even Mr. Tucker Fabish himself has come knocking for an apology. You better get ready to say you're sorry!
"She's nothing but trouble, a walking disaster..."
Celena's face was a mask of tension as she listened to the murmurs around her. Her heart was pounding like a drum, and her legs shook as she stepped forward to face the music.
"Apologize, now! Can't you see Mr. Fabish is here? Would we be in this mess if it weren't for you?" Reginald's voice thundered, his face twisted with anger as he loomed over Celena, cane raised to strike.
The cane never reached her. Tucker, in a sudden panic, intervened. If Celena got hit because of him, and Liam found out, he would be done for! Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Just the thought of Liam made Tucker shudder.
However, to Reginald, Tucker's interference was a sign of Celena's unforgivable guilt, and he seemed eager to take justice into his own hands. "Mr. Fabish, don't worry. This creature has erred and upset both Ms. Fabish and yourself. I won't show any mercy, she will be punished harshly!"
Reginald glared at Celena and commanded, "What are you waiting for? Apologize to Mr. Fabish and Ms. Fabish this instant, and prepare for their verdict!"
With every word Reginald uttered, Tucker's heart leapt with dread, worried he might do something drastic. He quickly cut in, "Reginald, could there be some kind of mix-up? I'm not here to cause a scene or point fingers!"
At that, Reginald, the company executives behind him, and the Stone family members all paused, clearly surprised.
Not there to cause a scene??
Then what was his purpose?
"Mr. Fabish, please be at ease. If Celena is at fault, then it's only fair she faces the consequences. I have no objections. I'm well aware of the situation, it's entirely Celena's doing. If she's to blame, she must own up to her actions." Reginald stated icily, his gaze landing on Samara next to Tucker.
Despite her sunglasses, the bruises on her face were unmistakable, a mottled canvas of purple and blue, and his eyes grew more distant.
"Apologize to Ms. Fabish this instant, and don't even think about getting lucky. You've made a mistake, and now it's time to pay the piper!" Reginald bellowed once more.
