Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 147

The heat radiating from Everett felt almost suffocating, and instinctively, he leaned in closer, claiming her without a second thought.

Selena, however, was having none of it. She twisted and turned, trying to break free. They were in a parking lot, for heaven's sake! Anyone could walk by, and there were cameras everywhere. If anyone caught them, Everett might escape the gossip, but she'd be the one

dragged through the mud-mocked, ridiculed, and looked down upon.

If people talked about her in the future, they'd only remember her as the woman caught with a man in broad daylight in a car. That scandal would overshadow everything else, and she couldn't let it destroy her dreams of building a successful career.

Finding a sudden burst of strength, Selena managed to free her hands and slapped Everett across the face, hard enough to make his head turn.

Clutching the front of her torn blouse, she swallowed hard, her voice rough yet determined. "I'll say it again. I did nothing wrong. I don't care whether you believe me or not. Just get lost!"

Everett's gaze was intense as he slowly turned back to face her, making her shiver. Without wasting any time, she reached for the car door, hoping to call for help. Surely, he'd care about his reputation.

But Everett wasn't fooled. His tongue clicked in frustration as his patience ran thin. In one swift motion, he removed his tie and used it to bind her wrists tightly. His knee nudged her legs apart.

Selena closed her eyes, feeling a wave of despair wash over her. Out of nowhere, she started laughing softly. Leaning close to his ear, she murmured, "Everett, you must find it insulting to think I sent you to another woman's bed, right? And yet, here you are, acting all self- righteous. Everett, you're a hypocrite, a double-standard jerk. How on earth did I ever fall for someone like you?"

Even as she laughed, tears started brimming in her eyes.

Everett froze, lifting his head to grip her chin, his voice low and dangerous. "What did you say?"

Selena's expression was full of scorn. "You say I'm a good actress, but I'm not even in your league!"

"Explain yourself!" Everett's voice was cold as ice. "Don't just convict me based on assumptions!"

Selena's anger flared. She bit her lip, speaking slowly and deliberately, "Two months ago, that night... You drank too much and asked me to pick you up..."

That night was burned into her memory, impossible to forget.

Was it a crime to have feelings for him?

He might not love her, but he had no right to treat her this way as if she were nothing. She was a person, with feelings and emotions, who could be hurt just like anyone else.

Everett's mind went blank for a moment. He had been at that meeting discussing business, but he left right after. He hadn't been drunk and certainly hadn't asked Selena to pick him up.

Let alone send her to another man! This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

"I didn't!" He took a deep breath, trying to control his desire as he stared at her, part annoyed, part

bewildered. "Selena, are you

out

Of

your mind? Do you honestly think I'd

trade my own wife for business?"

It wasn't arrogance. Companies lined up to collaborate with Bennett Corporation, and it was always his choice who to partner with, not the other way around.

Selena wasn't convinced and shot back, "To get your precious Margot to the top, what wouldn't you do?"

How much favoritism had he shown Margot over the years? Did he even keep track?
