Chapter 807 The Quarrel
“Do you hate me to the point of covering up the evil deeds Jimmy had done to you and withholding from me the information about my children? Theresa, if I were you, I would have revealed this matter. At least you have two sons who back you up.”
Theresa looked at Charlie and said, “I have never thought of this.’
Hearing Theresa’s playful tone, Charlie was distressed. “I don’t believe this idea has never occurred to you. Stop fooling me! Why did you prefer to put yourself at risk rather than ask me for help?”
“It’s because of your attitude toward me!” Theresa explained in an aggrieved tone, “Charlie, don’t you remember how you treated me before? You always complained that I had divorced and was not qualified to be your wife. Since you didn’t like the woman who had divorced, I wouldn’t bother you to care for me.”
Hearing this, Charlie remembered those insulting words he had said to Theresa on a whim. He had never expected that he would be in love with Theresa one day!
Seeing Charlie stunned, Theresa lowered her head and ate the soup.
Charlie’s eyes rested on Theresa. He lowered his voice and said, “What about now? You know I like you, but you still hide the truth from me.”
Theresa didn’t respond to Charlie’s words. She picked up the chopsticks and helped the two children with food.
Charlie knew she pretended not to hear his words. But he stopped questioning her to spare the two children from worries about them.
At the side, Ben observed the interactions between Charlie and Theresa carefully and asked, “Mom, are you angry with Dad?”
Theresa was surprised. She took a look at Ben and found it increasingly difficult to fudge the issue before him. He was smart enough to notice the subtleties of her exchanges with Charlie. Initially, Theresa only intended to help the two children with food. But now she had to put a morsel of vegetable into Charlie’s bowl to dispel Ben’s doubt. She looked at Charlie and added in a low voice, “Regarding the abusive words you said to me, I won’t let them pass.” Besides, she had no intention of resuming her romantic relationship with Charlie before Jimmy’s matter was solved.
Charlie looked at Theresa and was at a loss about what to say.
After dinner, the two children took a rest, and Charlie was about to leave.
Theresa saw him off. “Take care of yourself!”
“You don’t need to pretend to show concern for me.” Charlie was kind to the two children but assumed an aloof air before Theresa.
Theresa stared at Charlie, who was indifferent to her exclusively, and said, “You can sleep in the guest room, but you are determined to leave, which is not my idea.”
“I will never sleep in the guest room of your house.”
Theresa looked at Charlie, who said these words arrogantly, and gave up persuading him to stay. She said, “It is also my wish. If it weren’t for two children, I wouldn’t have paid attention to you.” After speaking, Theresa closed the door.
Charlie stood outside the room and looked at the door that blocked his view of Theresa. He felt a similar obstacle wedged between the hearts of Theresa and him.
Jonathan walked toward Charlie and said, “Charlie!”
Charlie took a look at him. “Let’s come back!”
Theresa stood behind the door and eavesdropped on the conversation between Charlie and Jonathan.
She watched her tiptoes and heaved a sigh before she walked inside silently.
At night, Rose tossed and turned on the bed without falling asleep. She repeatedly opened the audio file, though reluctant to listen to the recording. At this moment, someone called her and interrupted the playing of the recording. She took a look at the phone and answered it, hearing Luna’s flustered voice on the other end of the phone. “Rose, where are you?”Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
