Chapter 144
Chapter 144
As Catalina muttered to herself, she followed Bennett inside.
But as soon as she stepped in, the scene inside left her utterly stunned.
Before her eyes stood a towering 16-foot-tall knight statue, like a guardian overseeing the entire villa.
Above the statue, a crystal chandelier was casting a luxurious glow.
Behind the statue was a winding marble staircase, leading to the second floor.
Walking past the hall, she saw rooms, a gym, a hot spring pool, a swimming pool, and an expansive
backyard adorned with meticulously tended plants.
Overwhelmed by the grand house, she refused, "No, no, no, I can't live here! It's too much for me to
handle living alone in such a place."
Besides, this level of luxury was way beyond what she could afford.
However, it seemed Bennett just ignored her objection. He simply said, "The furnishing is in place, but
we still need to buy some personal stuff. Vincent was going to take care of that, but I declined. You are
going to live here, so it's best if you pick what you like. Let's go!"
With these words, Bennett turned around and was about to head out.
Feeling puzzled, Catalina asked, "Where are we going now?"
"To the mall."
Bennett glanced back at her from head to toe and replied, "I've grown tired of that dress you're
wearing."
Catalina was speechless.
Didn't he make her dress look like that?
Of course, she didn't dare to spit it out.
Instead, she hastened her steps to keep up with Bennett.
On their way to the mall, Catalina attempted to reason with him, "I really don't need to live in such an
extravagant house. Trust me, you're going to spoil me."
Yet, Bennett gave her a look of disdain.
That expression seemed to tell that he could handle it even if she was spoiled.
Catalina felt somewhat disheartened.
the next second she cheered up again and continue to persuade him, "Listen, I'm not someone special
to you, Bennett. Moving into your luxurious mansion just doesn't feel right for me."
"Ex-wife."
Catalina was silent.
She was left speechless.
"I'm not your ex-wife. We never even got married."
"We had slept together. Roughly speaking, you were my wife."
She made no response.
Talking with him was quite challenging.
Suddenly, she found herself being referred to as his ex-wife.
She wasn't sure whether she should be happy or upset about that.
"But if I live there alone, I'm going to be terrified. Living in a high-rise apartment is fine most of the time
because it's not so big. But if I have to stay alone in such a massive mansion with who knows how NôvelDrama.Org © content.
many rooms, how can I fall asleep at night?"
Considering her already severe insomnia, living alone in such an enormous mansion might mean she'd
never sleep again.
Bennett shot her a glance and said, "Except for the living room, there are twelve rooms."
Catalina listened silently.
"Also, I never said I would let you live there alone."
"You're going to find someone to keep me company?"
"I will."
"Who?"
Bennett looked at her but didn't respond.
Catalina stared back at him.
A few seconds later, she realized what he meant and said while pointing at Bennett, "The person you
mention, it's yourself, isn't it?"
Bennett turned his head around. He said as his eyes stayed on the road while he drove, "It's my house,
and there's no reason why I can't live there."
Though it made sense...
Catalina shrugged and asked, "So, what's the difference between this and moving to Sophora Villa?"
"You have a knack for making trouble."
Catalina was speechless.
So, in the end, this was all because of her?
So, was it because she was so dramatic that she didn't want to return to Sophora Villa with him? So he
had no other option but to move out with her?
Was that what he was implying?
"Can I refuse?" Catalina asked.
The car had already come to a stop.
Bennett opened the door, got out, and handed the car key to the valet. He said, "We're here. Get off the
car."
He simply brushed off her question.
This guy!
He was unreasonably domineering.
Bennett first led Catalina to the clothing section.
There were all luxury brands!
Catalina followed behind Bennett timidly and kept tugging at his clothes.
She was implying him to get out of here quickly.
As for the clothes here, she couldn't even afford a single T-shirt.
Initially, Bennett paid no attention to her tugging. But after a while, maybe because he got fed up with it,
he simply extended his hand backward and held her small hand in his.
Finally, Catalina settled down a bit.
She didn't dare to annoy him anymore.
Bennett stood in front and said to the shop assistant, "This one, this one, this one, and this one. Let her
try on all these clothes here. Also..."
He turned to glance at Catalina and added, "She wears the small size."
Catalina pulled Bennett and said, "I don't like trying on clothes."
"Are you going to stroll around with me in that torn dress of yours? Don't you mind being
embarrassed?"
Catalina looked down at herself.
Fine!
Her dress was torn and she had been at the foot of the mountain all day; she did look quite disheveled
now.
She could only agree.
The shop assistant indeed took down all the clothes that Bennett had pointed out and handed them to
Catalina for her to try on.
It had to be said that Bennett had an excellent taste.
Every piece of clothing he chose fit Catalina perfectly.
However, just one look at the price tags, Catalina felt uneasy.
A T-shirt for 4 thousand dollars.
A dress for 5 thousand.
A pair of jeans for 6 thousand.
A mini skirt for 10 thousand.
...
The prices were astoundingly higher.
Catalina found it hard to accept.
But unfortunately, Bennett was waiting outside and insisted she try them on.
She started with the least expensive T-shirt and walked out.
Bennett frowned when he saw her, shook his head, and said, "That's too normal."
Great!
Catalina was relieved.
She quickly entered and changed into another pair of jeans.
Bennett tilted his head, looked her up and down, then nodded, saying, "Not bad."
"Not bad means average."
Catalina summed it up and eagerly went to change into the next outfit.
It would be best if he found none of them satisfactory.
She then tried on a sexy black dress.
Bennett's gaze fixed on her.
It was low cut and open-shoulder.
It was alluring yet elegant.
The dress fit her well.
Bennett stared at her with eager eyes and said, "You look stunning."
He praised her straightforwardly.
Though thrilled by his compliment, her heart sank.
Gosh, this dress was priced at 17 thousand dollars!
However, Bennett's brows furrowed as he added, "It's a bit too revealing. Try on the next one!"
Catalina was relieved again.
But the very next moment, she wondered if she would spend the whole day trying on all these clothes
today.
Eventually, after she tried on a few more outfits, Bennett was hardly satisfied with any of them.
In his view, conservative clothes were too plain, while attractive ones were too sexy.
Yet, this was exactly the outcome Catalina had hoped for. She said, "Alright, let's move on to other
stores."
She thought she might find a more budget-friendly shop and choose one set of clothes suitable.
However, to her astonishment, Bennett took out his black card and said, "I'll pay for them all."
"But you didn't like any of them, right?"
"I just don't favor excessively conservative styles."
"Then why do you buy them all? I thought you didn't like overly revealing ones?"
