LUCIFER'S HUMAN BRIDE

SUSPICIOUS BOSS

"Don't mention it's my duty as your husband to help you; there is a lot of energy in that place, so it's not suitable for you to fly there." Lucifer advised.

"Seriously?" She asked and frowned. "Then I will have to be using the rope then." She said pouting her lips.

"That will be good, so you don't get into that type of situation again." He said. The fresh scent of freshly brewed coffee entered her nostrils. She lifted her face and saw Mr. Josh extending a mug of coffee to her. "What is this?" she asked, putting the mug closer to her mouth in an attempt to drink it. "Don't drink it!! It's hot!" he yelled. She didn't listen to him and took a sip; the hotness she felt in her tongue made her spill the remaining coffee on the floor, staining their shoes in the process. "I told you not to drink it." Mr. Josh said, shaking his head as he stepped back, staring at his shoes. Lucinda pulled out a few wipes from a box on her desk, handed them to him, and squatted to clean her shoes; they caught Ralph's attention.

"What's going on over there?" he asked coldly.

"She drank hot coffee, but there is nothing to worry about, sir." Mr. Josh assured Ralph, who put on a serious face and glared at Lucinda. "Next time, blow it before you take a sip," he said coldly and focused back on his computer as Lucinda finished cleaning her shoes and stuck out her tongue to convince them that she was human and in pain. "My tongue hurts," she lamented.

"It's normal. You just need to take something cold. It will subside." Mr. Josh remarked and scurried away. Lucinda grabbed the mop in the office and started cleaning her mess when Ralph got up from his seat and started walking toward the door. "Sir, where are you going? Can I come with you?" She asked.

"There is no need for that; I will go alone. I will be back in a sec." He replied and left the office. Lucinda shrugged and continued mopping the floor, wondering where he was going and why he didn't need her company.

Ralph looked around him to make sure he was not being followed. Before he teleported into the dark hole and sauntered toward Deacon's gate, he knocked on the gate, like he was following a rhythm. "Ralph, is that you?" Deacon inquired from inside the gate. "Yea, who else knows this Morse code?" He asked.

"Come in." Deacon said as the gate opened on its own for Ralph to enter, Ralph strolled into the gate, taking a deep breath, and staring at Deacon, who was sitting on a bed made of shiny blue crystals. "What brings you here? Do you have something to tell me?" Deacon asked in hushed tones.

"Yes..." Ralph answered, hesitating to speak. "I don't know, but, uh, I find it hard to trust Lucinda. She is acting really strange, like she has not been living on earth before," he stated.

"Huh? What are you talking about, Ralph?" Deacon asked. "Forget it. I knew you wouldn't believe me." Ralph remarked. "Talk to me now; I believe you. Are you trying to say she is a demon?" Deacon inquired.

"I don't know what to think, but if she were a demon, I would have known... Something just feels off." Ralph muttered, stroking his chin, as different thoughts started clouding his mind.

"I think she is innocent; it's just that she hasn't been exposed to things of the world yet." Deacon statedThis text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

"I don't think so; can you believe she hasn't heard of a mobile phone?" he said.

"Are you for real?" Deacon asked, surprised.

"Yes, of course, so I was thinking if I should give her the demon survey to answer tomorrow just to be sure she isn't a demon in disguise." He stated. "What! This is madness; I don't think she is a demon; she might be something else, like a witch of some sort. But if you must give her the test, do it in a stylish way, tell her you are giving it to all your employees, so she doesn't grow suspicious." Deacon suggested. "Hmm, I will do that." Ralph murmured.

"And if she doesn't get the questions in the survey, you will know she is innocent, just like I suspected." Deacon said breathing loudly.

"She helped me out when I was fighting a demon today," Ralph stated, staring at his hand. "I can't believe she has a lot of physical strength under her little muscles." Ralph commented.

"You see, she is really helpful. Now go away; I want to get some sleep." Deacon said

"Alright, I'm going." Ralph said, blinking his eyes and disappearing. He appeared in front of his desk and realized Lucinda was fast asleep on her desk. He slowly walked to her and watched her sleep. She was sleeping peacefully, and he couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked-even when sleeping, her skin was as bright as the sun.

He stretched his hand, trying to get a glimpse of her earring, but her hair was covering it. He started trying to brush it away from her ear, but her hair wasn't making way for him; it was hard and thick. The more strands he removed, the more it felt like her hair had a life of its own, which was frustrating him.

Lucinda's hair started tickling her in the neck, trying to wake her up. She opened her eyes and stared at Ralph, who stepped back in shock. She raised her head, looking at him. "What are you doing?" she asked, stroking her hair backward. Ralph felt goosebumps all over his body as he saw that her hair paved the way for her to adjust it immediately.

"T-There was something in your hair." He stuttered nervously, trying to convince himself that it was just a figment of his imagination. She forced a smile.

"Thank you." She spoke slowly.

"What's going on? I was trying to see her ear, but her hair was countless, and now she just strokes it, and it paved the way for her. Is her hair magical in some way? Or was I overthinking?" Ralph thought to himself.
