Loving You All Over Again (Aurora and Maverick)

Chapter 26

Aurora paused, caught off guard by Maverick's words, barely realizing who he meant by "that bodyguard"

Maverick looked at her calmly, unsure of what she was thinking. He knew that if she ever regretted marrying him, it would be

because of Scott

The memory of seeing her with Scott on the eve of their wedding was still fresh in his mind. He didn't believe for a second that she felt nothing for

"I don't care what happened in the past," he said coolly. Just make sure you don't see him again."

Aurora felt a faint rush of warmth. 'Does he care about Scout that much? He's acting cold, but he's actually jealous, she thought, feeling oddly reassured.

But she wasn't ready to cut off all contact with Scott yet-her plans for revenge still needed time.

After a brief hesitation, she asked carefully, "Maverick, would it be alright if I went out for a bit later?"

"Where would you go" Maverick asked, irritated.

He thought, "What could she possibly need to do on the first day of our

Ir marriage? Doesn't she know we're supposed to be on a honeymoon!" J "Do I have to say! Aurora asked.

To Maverick, her response sounded suspicious. His eyes narrowed as his tone took a hard edge. "You're going to see that bodyguard, aren't you? Aurora, I already told you-

Aurora interrupted, "But I need to talk to him about something"

Maverick's expression darkened. The look that had softened slightly turned icy again as he spoke in a tone that left no room for argument. "No"

"I really do need to see him, Maverick. Can you at least tell me where he is?" Aurora asked, trying to sound calm.

Maverick just stared at her, the silence heavy with warning.

Aurora

hesitated, about to explain, but Maverick pushed his plate aside. "He's done for. What do you plan to do about it?"

Aurora didn't respond because she had no good answer.

Maverick stood, his lips tight. "Stay home and keep out of trouble. You're not going anywhere, and don't bring him up again."

With that, he slammed the door behind him, leaving Aurora to realize, too late, that he was angry.

*Mr. Parker, are we adjusting your schedule for today?" Howard asked, keeping pace as Maverick strode toward the car, tablet in hand.

The honeymoon plans had mostly cleared Maverick's upcoming schedule, but after this morning, it seemed those plans were heading out the

window.

"What do you think?" Maverick replied coldly as he got into the car without looking back. To the office. He had turned back into a workaholic.

Howard glanced anxiously at Maverick's chest where his injury was, but he held his tongue,

Meanwhile, Aurora spent the entire morning brooding in the room, feeling regretful for upsetting Maverick. Finally, she got up with a resolved look and went straight to the kitchen.

Seeing her determined expression, the servants quickly stepped aside, assisting as needed but saying little." watching her focus on her task.

They quietly prepared the spices,

When Aurora left the kitchen, she was holding a pot of mushroom soup Knowing Maverick was likely buried in work by now, she asked the buder to arrange a car to take her to his office.

With yesterday's wedding making headlines, everyone in Havin City knew that Aurora had married Maverick. So when Aurora arrived at his office with the soup, no one stopped her.

Instead, the

they parted to let her pass, the warm aroma of mushroom soup trailing behind her.

People praised the couple's love for each other, and several remarked that Aurora was even more stunning in person than on TV. But Aurora barely seemed

to hear tiemi; she just asked where the office was and headed upstairs.

She kicked on the glass door of the CEO office, and when she heard Maverick answer, she walked in and locked the door behind her.

Maverick looked up, frowning. "What are you doing here?"

In truth, his breath caught the moment he saw her. Her smooth skin, graceful figure, and bright, clear eyes made everything else fade into the background

Aurora smiled, setting a thermos on his desk. "I came to apologize. I made some mushroom soup-try it."

She opened the thermos, and the savory aroma filled the room, making Maverick's mouth water despite himself.

But

his expression didn't soften. "Not interested. Take it with you"

Aurora looked surprised. "Not interested? I heard you skipped lunch, so I made this and brought it over as an apology

She ladled some soup into a bowl and set it in front of him, then picked up a spoonful and held it out. "Just try it. You might find pretty close to professional.”

Maverick turned away with a scoff "You're only here to find out where Scott is, right? Playing nice to get me to let you keep sneaking around with him, huh?"

That icy response made Aurora shiver. "Sneaking around? I'm not. I just need to see him to settle something important."

Maverick's eyes stayed hard as he pushed both her and the bowl away. "And what's so important that only he can help with?”

As he turned his head, he couldn't help but catch a glimpse of her. She'd come in smiling, trying to make amends, but now, her face had fallen, and there was a faint sadness in her eyes

"Go home." Maverick said, his voice a little softer but still firm. "He won't be in your life again, so don't even think about it."

Aurora's heart sank as she put the spoon down and poured the soup back into the thermos. There's nothing

g between us. I'm not hiding anything from you. I just need to find out who set me up and humiliated my family. My kidnapping still has no answers."noveldrama

She didn't believe Maverick was behind it, even if everyone else did. She knew Scott was the main suspect. This was her only chance to dig deeper into Scott and Naomi's plot.

She gave a

e a small, bitter laugh. "I want this marriage to work, Maverick. We're family. Everyone else thinks it was you who kidnapped me, it wasn't.'

but I know

A sudden tightness pulled at Maverick's chest. He fought the urge to reach for her,

to comfort her. "Remember, you're Mrs. Parker now," he said. softly.

Aurora's s eyes welled up. "How could I forget?" It was the title she valued the most.

"This is something for me to take care of," Maverick said firmly. "You don't need to get involved."

Aurora's face lit up a little. "Are you looking into the kidnapping?"

Maverick studied her silently. The peacock-blue dress, one he'd picked out for her, suited her perfectly. Even without makeup, she was breathtaking Standing there, she looked more striking than any actress he'd ever seen.

"Why all the questions?" he replied, though he couldn't hide a faint smile. "Go on home. And tonight, you're coming with me to Parker Manor,"
