Chapter 66
When Lola woke up again, only three hours had passed.
She couldn’t remember what she had been doing three hours before, but when she woke up, she saw Jasmine stroking her hair.
“Mom…” Lola’s voice was sweet, and her eyes sparkled even more clearly than before.
“My Layla, you’re awake.” Jasmine’s eyes brimmed with undeniable affection.
Lola slowly sat up and asked, “Hm? Why are we here? Where is this place? Why can’t I remember anything?”
“Lola?” Scott called out.
Upon hearing that name, Lola blinked and turned around to ask, “Scott? What did you just call me? Lola?”
She had completely forgotten.
Lola even forgot the name she once used.
Scott then smiled as he thought, ‘Finally, I don’t have to worry about Layla remembering her past anymore.”
He replied, “It’s nothing, I just holler at you.”
Jasmine had not fully come to terms with the situation yet. After all, erasing her daughter’s memory without her consent made her feel guilty.
She patted Lola’s hand and said, “Let’s go home.”
Scott, however, was reluctant to let her go.
After all, it had been over a decade since they had last seen each other, and after seeing Lola again, he didn’t want to part with her.
Scott said, “Mrs. Lewis, Layla and I are about to get married anyway. Why not let her stay at my place for today? It could be a good opportunity for her to get familiar with her new home.”
Upon hearing that, Jasmine was taken aback and turned to look at him with a puzzled and questioning expression.
She thought, ‘What is Scott doing?! I haven’t even decided whether to continue with the marriage arrangement, especially since the situation with Scott and Jenna hasn’t been sorted out. I certainly can’t marry Layla to him under these circumstances! But Scott is putting us in a difficult position by saying this without consulting us first!‘
Scott’s expression remained unchanged, his gaze soft as he looked at Lola.
Her face flushed upon hearing him, and she shyly looked down. “Oh, Scott, why would you say that?”
Scott ignored Jasmine’s look and boldly stated the plan he had already decided on, “Layla, you’ve been unconscious for so long, and I’ve waited so long for you. We can’t delay our engagement any longer. You want to marry me, don’t you?”

It was only then that Lola realized she seemed to have lost al
chunk of her memory.
She asked, “What happened to me? Why can I only remember our childhood memories?”
Lola was like a newborn, curious about everything.
She wondered, ‘My mom and the man I love are right here, but why can’t I remember anything about the past?”
Scott explained, “You fell severely ill when you were young, it nearly cost you your life, but thankfully you’ve woken up. Of course, you don’t have memories from that time, but it’s good that you’re awake now. I’ll take good care of you from now on.”
Upon hearing that, Lola frowned slightly and thought, ‘Scott would never lie to me, but how come I didn’t know I was sick? Wasn’t i always healthy when I was young? And even if I was ill, why did I wake up in Scott’s house? Shouldn’t I have been recuperating at home?”
She pondered over this and felt something was off.
But Lola was afraid of upsetting Scott, so she didn’t harbor any suspicions.
She felt that thi
this was the Scott she trusted the most, after all, and that he surely wouldn’t deceive her.
Meanwhile, Jasmine’s expression was less than pleased as she pondered, ‘Exposing Scott at this time might hurt my precious. daughter. She’s just had her memories erased through hypnosis. It’s better to stabilize the situation for now. However, I’m very dissatisfied with Scott’s actions. He made all these decisions on his own without consulting us!”
“Layla, let’s go home,” she said, preparing to leave.
Scott frowned slightly, “Mrs. Lewis, Layla just woke up. Let her stay here instead of moving her around.”
Jasmine’s expression darkened. “Mrs. Lewis? Why so formal all of a sudden? Hmph, Scott, you’re a good kid, and I’m thankful for you. However, I hope you won’t disappoint me in the future.”
She couldn’t state her displeasure too directly, but she was indeed frustrated.
Scott understood Jasmine’s hint, but he was already leading everything, and there was no turning back now.
He wasn’t trying to harm Layla, after all. Everything he did was for her good. Therefore, the method didn’t matter anymore.
Sensing the tense atmosphere, Lola was worried they might start arguing, so stepped in to smooth things over. “I’ll go home with Mom, I miss home.”
Since she had said that, Scott had no more excuses. “Alright then.”
“Shall I accompany you back? I’ll drive you,” he offered, reluctant to part with Lola.
Jasmine frowned slightly. She used to like Scott, but now he seemed to have changed.
She even thought that if the kind and gentle Scott were to lose control, it would be terrifying.
“Okay,” Lola replied with a slight smile.

On their way back home, she looked around at the nearby buildings with curiosity.
Lola remarked, “Wow, it’s so beautiful here. Has the area been renovated this well? I remember when I was a child, this was just an

ordinary street.”
Her innocent demeanor resembled that of a child. Scott saw in her the young girl who used to follow him around closely and affectionately calling his name.

He responded, “Yes, there’s a lot you don’t know. I happen to be free lately, so I can to see everything and be with you all the time.”
Jasmine frowned slightly, “Don’t you have an important task to attend to? Do I need to remind you?”
Upon hearing that, Scott’s expression darkened. He felt that Jasmine was already starting to be wary of him, which wasn’t good.
He smiled, “Mrs. Lewis, don’t worry. I won’t forget anything I’m supposed to do. I’ll handle everything well, including spending time with Layla.
“She still needs some time to recover her health. By accompanying her and helping her get accustomed to her current life, I’m also helping to ease your burdens.”
Scott’s words sounded pleasant, but Jasmine was far from grateful. However, Lola was present, so she refrained from commenting.
Jasmine said, “I also happen to be free, so let me handle it. After all, Layla and I have a lot to catch up on.”
Scott smiled slightly and said no more.
When the car stopped outside Silverbrook Tower, Jasmine spoke first. “Scott, you should go back.”
cott frowned slightly but couldn’t say much.
Lola didn’t get out of the car immediately, her gaze seemingly caught by something. He then looked in the same direction, puzzled.
Scott noticed a car not far away, with two well–built men seemingly engaged in conversation. One of them stood out
conspicuously, clearly not from around here.
Even from just a silhouette, it was clear that the man was no ordinary individual. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
