Love That Wasn't Meant to Last

At work, Zion knocked on my desk and handed me a document.

"This is a draft proposal for our plan. Here's my account and password. You can use it to add your girlfriend's account and discuss with her about the plan."

I opened the file and studied it. It was just a spontaneous idea that I mentioned to Zion during a conversation. I hadn't expected him to take it so seriously. For a moment, I saw him in a different light.

"Did you sort out the trip?"

I nodded. "I signed her up for a tour. She will probably leave in the next few days."

"Hudson, why are you always distracted lately? And you'd better manage your girlfriend properly. If something goes wrong, don't blame me for being ruthless."

I used the account Zion gave and added Sylvia. I sent her a lengthy message outlining the travel plan, like no leaving midway unless under special circumstances and taking care of her own safety, among other things.

She didn't reply for a while, but eventually, a message came through.

"I've read all the conditions, but I have a question. Are you really that busy lately?"

I paused for a moment before replying, "The company is expanding into new markets, so there's a lot to do. Being busy is normal."

"I have other things to attend to. Have a great trip, and feel free to contact me if you need anything," I added.

Reading my conversation with Sylvia made me feel a mix of emotions.

The departure date I had arranged with the tour group was tomorrow.

I thought she would easily agree, as that was how she had promised me before I agreed to come back to the company.
