Part 31 # Arrested by the Police
“What did you say? Speak slowly,” Andre said, unaware of the trouble Lara was in.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
The woman appeared to be panting while holding her increasingly large stomach. No one could say how worried Andre was about Lara’s condition. First, he lifted Lara’s body and then gently pushed her to the sidewalk to avoid being hit by passing cars.
“Phone, police,” Lara said breathlessly. “To … call.”
Andre held both of Lara’s shoulders and began to gaze deeply into her eyes. Andre’s eyes radiated concern and curiosity. What exactly was happening to this woman?
“Why should I call the police?” Andre asked carefully. He watched Lara’s every move, which seemed unstable, then reluctantly grabbed Lara’s hand to help her calm down a bit. “Lara … tell me, why should I call the police?”
“There’s a fight over there, Andre! Please! My maid is in danger! I have to go there …” Lara pointed to a row house with green paint across from them. Indeed, there were shouts and curses coming from that direction, but Andre didn’t want to get involved in a domestic dispute.
“Lara, don’t endanger yourself for someone else. It might just be a regular argument,” Andre tried to reassure Lara. But the woman remained adamant. She insisted on crossing the street and saving Bi Yani before it was too late!
“Wait!” Andre grabbed Lara’s hand until she bumped into his broad chest because she couldn’t avoid the large man’s body.
“Let go! I’ll go alone if you don’t want to help!” she yelled angrily. Andre pulled Lara closer and this time, he couldn’t resist hugging the other man’s wife. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. Calm down, okay? I’ll help you.”
“Let go of me, Andre. You have no right to hug me!”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean–”
Andre immediately let go of her and refocused on fulfilling Lara’s request. Following her request, Andre immediately called the police to make a report. After that, he went straight to the green-painted house and started recording as evidence.
CRASH!
Without much delay, Andre burst into the house and began his rescue mission for Lara’s acquaintance. “Stop!” Andre yelled as Bi Yani’s husband seemed about to throw a flower vase at his already bruised wife’s face.
“Scoundrel!” Andre cursed as he ran forward towards the husband who seemed about to launch another attack.
“UGH!”
Bi Yani’s husband, who initially appeared brave and invincible, now lay on the floor with blood streaming from his lips. Some of his teeth were missing, and he began to struggle to balance his body.
“Mas!” Bi Yani shouted, trying to break up the fight. She didn’t know who the stranger was or why he was attacking her husband recklessly. “Stop!” yelled Bi Yani, feeling sorry for her injured husband.
Despite having just suffered the same injuries, for some reason, her heart didn’t want to see a stranger attacking her husband without knowing the root of the problem.
“Bi Yani!” Lara shouted from the doorway. The middle-aged woman looked up while still attending to her helpless husband.
“Mrs. Lara?”
“Bi Yani! Oh my God!” Lara approached and gently stroked the woman’s face with love and affection. “Thank goodness, I’m not too late,” Lara said sincerely. She looked at Andre, who seemed out of breath after just exerting his strength to beat up Bi Yani’s disrespectful husband.
How could a man be so heartless as to beat a woman? Moreover, that woman was his own wife? If he wasn’t a spawn of Satan, then what was he? “Tsk!” Andre clicked his tongue as he began to straighten his shirt.
His doctor’s coat was left at the village hall; Andre was only wearing a regular shirt. No one would have guessed that the man was actually a doctor conducting social service in Kampung Durian.
Initially, Andre was just going to smoke for a while, so he looked for a safe corner to relax after examining and treating hundreds of patients who were registered as participants in the hospital’s free medical treatment.
Andromeda Hospital routinely held social services every three months for underprivileged villages listed in their ledger.
“Mrs. Lara … Huhu ….” Bi Yani finally cried. She now recognized the man who had brazenly entered her house. Doctor Andre. Bi Yani only recognized the doctor when she saw him again. He was indeed the doctor who had treated Bu Lara-her employer.
“What happened, Bi? How could all this happen?” Lara wondered with a heavy heart as she looked at the wounds suffered by her servant. Bi Yani could only cry silently, unable to say anything. She was still shocked and afraid of everything that had happened. Bi Yani felt that her unlucky fate was indeed part of the destiny she had to endure.
“Bi Yani. You’re a great woman, you’re very strong. But that’s enough, okay? Hand him over to the authorities!”
Bi Yani continued to cry while shaking her head slowly. “No, Ma’am. Don’t take my husband away!”
Who would have thought? It turns out that the woman was unwilling to see her husband sent to prison.
“No … don’t take my husband away!”
