Chapter 1400
Chapter 1400:
Since returning Norah to Glophia, he had maintained a low profile. He avoided social events within the elite circle, only making exceptions for functions that Norah invited him to. He concentrated on managing the Hayes family’s business and occasionally served as an auxiliary member of the army.
“Thanks. By the way, how’s the scented candle I sent? Does it help? Any nightmares lately?” Norah inquired.
When she was working on the scented candle in her lab, she had prepared extra to send to Kason and other friends in Silverdale.
“It’s been very helpful. My insomnia has improved significantly. Thanks for your concern.” Kason’s voice softened. “I heard about Mr. Scott’s successful proposal. I wish you both happiness.”
“Thank you.”
A brief silence followed. Just as Kason was about to end the call, a gentle voice came from the other end.
“Kason, do you remember the condition I set when I agreed to treat Devonte?”
“I’ve always remembered. I thought you had forgotten.”
Norah sighed. “I’m busy at the moment, but when I find some time, could you accompany me somewhere?”
“Sure, I promise.”
Despite knowing there was no chance of being with Norah, Kason wholeheartedly accepted her invitation.
Norah hung up, having intentionally made plans with Kason, hoping it would lift his spirits.

That day, Norah fielded numerous calls, addressing a range of concerns. Everyone connected to her was in disbelief; they had never imagined she was the world-renowned Supernatural Doctor.
After learning that, Corrin expressed regret. “If only I had kept a better relationship with Norah. She is soon to marry into the influential Scott family, and as the famed Supernatural Doctor, she must be worth one hundred million now.”
Luna, cradling her child, didn’t look up. “Even more than that. Sean’s net worth alone surpassed hundreds of billions long ago. Once Norah marries him, her assets will soar into the tens of billions.”
She soothed Shayla and said, “Sweetheart, your aunt adores you. You should talk to her more. If she’s happy, it might just bring prosperity to us as well.”
Corrin nodded enthusiastically. “Luna, you were smart to use Shayla to forge a bond with Norah early on. Shayla, the future of our family might just be in your little hands.”
Shayla, with her big, bright eyes, giggled as she sucked her thumb. “Take me to Auntie.”
In the dimly lit room of Juliana at the Carter family home, Marlene slammed a bowl of herbal medicine onto the bedside table, splashing half of its contents.
With the curtains drawn, the room was shrouded in shadows, housing an elderly woman lying frail on the bed, the air tinged with an unpleasant odor.
Covering her nose with a handkerchief in disgust, Marlene complained, “It stinks in here. Can’t you clean up after yourself? You refuse your medicine; it’s like you’re trying to die.”
Juliana, frail and emaciated, stared at Marlene with sunken, wide-open eyes, unable to move or speak, completely helpless.
