Chapter 1391
Chapter 1391:
He acknowledged his own selfishness. Knowing that Norah was reluctant to marry so soon, he had still planned the elaborate proposal and involved many of their friends.
It seemed he had not fully considered Norah’s feelings, his desire to marry her and bind her to him through marriage overshadowing her reservations.
“I’ll be with you forever, Sean. I love you,” Norah said, her smile radiating warmth. “I’ve told you this many times, but it feels just as right to say it again now. Thank you, and I love you.” She deeply appreciated his understanding and love.
Sean’s heart warmed at her words, and he whispered back, “Honey, I love you too.”
He opened his arms wide and pulled her into a tight embrace.
At first, Norah had planned to take a leisurely walk with Sean while they were both emotional. However, as they held each other close, she felt a profound connection with him. She realized that some things were better left unsaid for the time being.
Between lovers, some words might be best saved for later.
By the time their group returned to Glophia, it was nearly eleven o’clock in the evening. Once there, everyone went their separate ways to their homes.
As Norah stepped out of the car, she yawned deeply and said, “They really went all out to help us today, didn’t they? Have you prepared some gifts for them?”
Sean lifted Norah into his arms, adjusting her as she wrapped her arms around his neck, and strolled leisurely toward the villa.
“Don’t worry. I’ve taken care of it. Everyone was happy with the gifts.”
Recalling something, Norah chuckled. “I noticed Susanna and Joanna had teary eyes. It’s kind of funny, isn’t it? I was the one getting proposed to, yet they seemed more moved than I was.”

She was amused as she recalled her surprise when she first noticed them crying. At the moment, she didn’t know how to respond to their tears.
“They’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time, so it makes sense,” Sean replied with a shrug.
In particular, Susanna had been hinting at them getting married for ages. The air seemed filled with their joy, reverberating around them.
In the car, Joanna touched her swollen eyelids. Feeling a little self-conscious, she lowered her head. Hours ago, with Susanna crying beside her, she had found it impossible to hold back her emotions. Because of the swollen rims of her eyes, she felt awkward about being alone with Duncan.
With one hand on the wheel, Duncan occasionally glanced over at Joanna with a look of concern.
“Joanna, what are your thoughts on marriage?” he asked out of nowhere.
In his world, such celebrations of joy seemed almost nonexistent. His life as a mercenary had been rife with uncertainties, populated more by death and darkness than by life and light, with many of his comrades either injured or killed during missions.
Becoming a martial arts coach had marked a clear break from his former life. It was only after meeting Joanna that he started to see a brighter future.
Joanna missed the deeper implication in Duncan’s question. After pondering for a moment, she responded, “Before I understood love, I saw marriage as terrifying. All I knew was that it had the power to change someone. After marriage, many things change, and the love the two once shared might fade. I believed there was some truth to that.”
She took a breath and continued, “Norah once married a man who turned out to be all wrong for her. She wasted two years of her life and broke away from her past. It wasn’t until her divorce that she returned to her old self. Because of her experience, I secretly vowed never to marry. But then, I met you.”
