She knew her uncle wouldn’t let his daughter suffer, even if it meant facing off against the Miller family. But Roseanne had been too timid to speak up when she was bullied.

Roseanne shook her head, distressed. “I just can’t bring myself to tell them, Norah. It’s getting late; you should head back. I won’t keep you for dinner, haha.” She tried to appear relaxed, but the effort fell flat.

Norah patted her head gently, recognizing that Roseanne had done enough for today. There was no need to push her further.

“Alright, call me if you need anything.”

Watching her cousin walk away, Roseanne felt a wave of sadness. Her cousin really was kind to her.
