The Agony Of Ella
Throughout the whole night, Ella almost froze to death. She tried hiding in all corners in the office but couldn’t resist the cold. She tried unlocking the door severally but didn’t succeed as the door was well secured. When she couldn’t resist any longer, she went unconscious.
The next morning, as soon as Henry opened the door, he was greeted by the lifeless body of Ella. He turned to his boss and called his attention.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Master Elion, Ella is…” Before he could finish his sentence, Elion saw Ella’s lifeless body and hurried towards it. Henry carried her and rushed to the emergency room and the doctor immediately attended to her. After checking for a pulse and her heartbeat, the doctor sighed in relief before explaining the situation to Henry to inform his boss.
“She’s responsive.”
“Better.” Replied Henry as he walked back to the president’s office in satisfaction. As soon as he entered, his eyes fell on his boss and Liza sitting in an ambiguous position. He gently cleared his throat before passing the message he brought.
“Boss, she’s responsive.” Said Henry with so much satisfaction but his boss’ answer left him confused.
“Who cares?” Spat Elion while sipping some red wine. Liza stood up and with her two hands folded across her chest, she warned Henry as though he was a kid.
“Henry, your boss isn’t interested in that cleaner so please stop trying to force her down his throat. Whether she’s alive or not, who cares? Even if she dies, who will come looking for her corpse or who killed her?”
After waiting for his boss to rebuke Liza, his boss didn’t say anything which left Henry very disappointed. Without a word, he walked to the table, picked up some files and stormed out of the office. Three hours later, while in the general meeting, Liza whispered into Elion’s ears and Elion responded with a node. Anytime she was around Elion, she was very flirtatious as if she was trying to warn other ladies to stay off her man and since Elion will never complain, everyone thought the rumours that they were engaged were true and so, everyone in town respected her.
Liza bounced out in admiration. She went to the emergency room and without a word, she dragged Ella from the bed while commanding Ella to follow her.
“You better hurry because my fiance won’t spare you if you keep him waiting.” Like an obedient dog, Ella followed Liza with her left hand lifting the drip on her left arm so as to stop blood leakage. As soon as they walked into the room, all eyes fell on Ella who was very pale and still shivering. Seeing her pathetic state, Henry looked at Liza and frowned lightly but avoided being caught.
“You are worse than a villager Ella. Don’t you know how to switch off and AC? Why did you turn it on in the first place…?” Elion questioned her non-stop and she tried her best to explain herself.
“Greetings Master Elion, I’m sorry for the inconveniences I’ve caused. To be sincere sir, I wasn’t the one that switched on the AC…”
“Then who did?”
Interrupted Liza as if she was trying to stop her from talking.
“Miss Liza, you did it.”
Ella said angrily but her words were sealed by a hard slap from Liza.
“How dare you lie against me? What will you gain from tarnishing my image?”
Liza asked angrily. She became very angry causing Elion to frown lightly.
“Ella, how dare you lie right in front of me?” Elion asked as he stood and walked up to Ella closing the gap between them which made the shivering Ella to take a few steps backward.
“If you take a step again I will kill you.” Elion warned seriously.
“Master Elion, I’m not lying. She wasn’t satisfied with you punishing me to stay in the office the whole night…”
Ella tried explaining but Henry stopped her.
“Ella, are you trying to get back at Liza?” Asked Henry.
“Not at all sir. I am saying…”
Before she could finish her words, Elion gave her a very hard slap causing her to fall on her swollen knees. Like a child, Ella cried out aloud leaving many people feeling very sorry for her.
To worsen her situation, Maya who had been looking for such an opportunity, stood up and questioned Ella without any pithy, causing Henry to become very suspicious.
“Ella, will you ever change? Must you always try to implicate people just so you look righteous and any other person demonic? Don’t tell me you have an eye for Master Elion? For crying out loud, you are already married Ella, so you shouldn’t spoil the relationship between Miss Liza and Master Elion. I met your husband yesterday and he told me you haven’t been sleeping at home, and even when you try to come back home, you return with a man. Why are…?”
“Enough!” Shouted Elion who was already burning in anger. Henry was stunned after listening to Liza and Elion, who hadn’t noticed anything wrong in what Maya just said, was fuming in anger.
“Miss Madison, where did you meet her husband because I want to meet him too.”
Trying to cook up a story, she smiled sheepishly before changing the topic.
“Sir Henry, they are really not important. Her husband isn’t someone you will want to set your eyes on because you will definitely lose your appetite. We should be more concerned about how Ella got a job as a cleaner in this company. She might have offered her body to one of the HODs here to secure the job.”
Ella, who was already used to such accusations, didn’t respond. While Liza was very satisfied with Maya and couldn’t help but smile back at her and gave her a thumbs up.
Ella struggled and stood on her feet and was about walking out when Elion’s voice brought her to a halt.
“Get me a cup of coffee.”
Ella waited for about thirty seconds and without a word from Elion, she turned to face him only to meet his cold eyes staring deeply into her. She turned and looked at Henry who gave her the order again.
“Ella, you have just two minutes to bring the coffee.”
Henry said coldly. Everyone in the conference room was shocked to hear Elion demanding a cup of coffee and started whispering among themselves.
“You now drink coffee? How come I’m not aware?” Asked Liza like a spoiled brat but Elion ignored her.
Few minutes later, Ella returned with the coffee and handed it to Elion. As soon as he took the cup of coffee, he brought it directly to his mouth to take a sip but as soon as he tasted the coffee, he frowned and poured the hot coffee on Ella’s left hand causing it to burn instantly to the satisfaction of Liza and Maya while others looked at Ella with empathy except for Elion.
“Is this the coffee you used to make for your husband?”
Elion asked, leaving everyone stunned including the tearing Ella who recalled the day she first served her husband coffee and had to become a side stool for her husband till he emptied his cup.
