Chapter 34
After some thought, Melina decided to go on the rides.
She couldn’t care less about what Louis was planning, and she could
handle it.
As Melina walked away, the woman with smokey eye makeup. standing behind Louis grew impatient and asked, “Why go to all this trouble? She’s just a maid. We could’ve just dealt with her.”
Louis shook his head. “You don’t get it. Mr. Wentworth hired her. Even Andrew had to get rid of her quietly. This amusement park has the most terrifying rides in the country. We’re just taking her here to have fun. If she ends up wetting her pants from fear or getting some kind. of psychological trauma, that’s on her, not us.”
“You’re right, Mr. Pritchet. How dare this bitch try to seduce Mr. Wentworth. She’s finished!”
This was Melina’s first time at an amusement park. Even though she knew they had ulterior motives, she still enjoyed herself. After playing a few rides, Louis and his group led her to the haunted house.
This haunted house was notorious for being terrifying, with incredibly realistic actors and frightening scenes. It wasn’t uncommon for people to leave in tears, completely freaked out.
Most of Louis’s group was too scared to enter. In the end, only Louis and Melina went inside. They stepped into the darkness, and eerie music played faintly in the background. It didn’t take long for This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
someone nearby to scream in terror.
Melina looked around, completely unfazed. She didn’t find ghosts to be scary at all.
When she was little, after her mom passed and her dad disappeared,
people used to say one could see ghosts at the graveyard at night. At five years old, Melina snuck out to the cemetery, hoping to see her mom’s ghost. She waited all night but never saw anything.
Suddenly, a scream pierced the air and someone shoved her from behind. She bumped into an actor, knocking off his fake arm. She didn’t need to guess who pushed her. It was definitely Louis.
An idea popped into Melina’s head. She grabbed the fake arm and chased after Louis, using it to tap him on the shoulder.
Louis ignored her at first, so she tapped him again. Annoyed, Louis spun around and yanked the arm from her, snapping, “Melina, quit messing around!”
Then, the arm moved, and the actor said hauntingly, “Why are you holding my arm?”
Louis froze, cursed loudly, and dropped the arm, bolting down the hallway. Melina blinked innocently, amused by what a coward he was. She strolled over to a coffin, reading the sign that said opening it would trigger an even scarier mode. Naturally, she lifted the lid.
Immediately, the atmosphere shifted. A chilling breeze seemed to blow through the room, and Louis could be heard screaming in panic in the distance.
Melina followed him, laughing brightly as she went, and helpfully triggered every scarier mode option along the way.
By the time they emerged from the haunted house, Melina looked calm and collected, while Louis, who was normally so fearless, was pale and shaken.
The others in his group looked at Melina in astonishment. She simply blinked at them innocently.
Louis, rattled by how scared he had been, was even more furious
now. There was no way he would admit that this woman was braver than him.
Determined to shake her up, Louis took her to several more terrifying attractions. But Melina wasn’t afraid of any of them.
One of his friends whispered to him, “I noticed something. She keeps avoiding the high rides. I think she’s afraid of heights.”
Louis’s eyes gleamed with realization. “Afraid of heights, huh? Let’s take her to the tallest roller coaster, then.
They led Melina over to the roller coaster. Before it started, it looked like nothing more than a small train.
Melina had never seen a roller coaster before, so she assumed it was just another mild ride. She sat down quietly, letting the staff buckle her in with the safety harness.
