Chapter 693: Another Failure
He had only taken two steps in pursuit when Jared's deep voice rang out, "Come back."
Nathan stopped in his tracks and said, "Mr. Farrell, if we don't chase now, it'll be too late. We can't let Dorothy Russell get away again."
Jared helped Tina up and glanced at Nathan indifferently, "Withdraw!"
"But..."
Nathan wanted to say more, but a look from Jared silenced him.
He didn't understand!
Even if that person was strong, couldn't they, with so many people, snatch Dorothy Russell from that person's grasp?
Hayden couldn't understand either, but he could see that the person was very powerful; perhaps Jared's decision not to pursue was because their lives, the brothers' lives, were more important than capturing Dorothy Russell. The members of the Mountain Veil Order did not obey Jared's command.
Jayden looked at Tina and asked, "Young master, should we withdraw?"
Tina took out two healing pills from her pocket, handed one to Jared, and swallowed the other herself.
After taking the healing pills, she finally said to Jayden, "Everyone from Mountain Veil Order, withdraw. Starting today, all members of Mountain Veil Order are to go into seclusion and not leave. Prepare defenses." Tina's words left Nathan and Hayden completely confused.
Dorothy Russell had escaped, and instead of chasing her, they were to prepare Mountain Veil Order's defenses. What did this mean?
Jayden, who had been following Tina for many years, immediately understood her intentions and said with a grave expression, "Yes, young master. I will initiate level two defenses immediately."
Nathan and Hayden were utterly baffled.
What was this level two defense?
Was a fight brewing?
The brothers from Serenity Ridge did not ask further; they knew Tina had her reasons.
Jayden then led the people of Mountain Veil Order to evacuate.
Seeing this, Nathan and Hayden also sent word for Team Umbra to withdraw.
The brothers from Serenity Ridge left as well.
Now, only Tina, Jared, Nathan, and Hayden remained in the room.
After the healing pill, Tina's body rapidly recovered.
This healing pill was a recently developed upgraded version, derived from ST-1 research, and was more effective than the first one she had developed.
Tina turned to Jared and smiled slightly, "Uncle, we've failed again."
Jared held Tina's hand, his stern face showing no anger about Dorothy Russell being rescued, and he smiled, "Yes, we've failed again, so let's go back and eat." "Sure. Been fussing all day, I'm starving."
With that, Tina and Jared walked outside.
Nathan and Hayden exchanged looks and reluctantly followed.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
Outside the villa, Tina looked back and sighed lightly, "Such a nice house, what a pity."
Then, she threw the miniature bomb she had obtained from Dorothy Russell behind her and shouted, "Run!"
Jared, anticipating her actions, grabbed her and ran immediately.
Nathan and Hayden were a step slower, but still started running as fast as they could.
"Boom!"

A loud explosion and flames shot into the sky.
The villa, which was only designed for level one defense, was instantly reduced to rubble.
Elsewhere.
Eric was accommodated in the Farrell family residence.
Stephanie still had a use for Tina, so after feeding her medicine, she had her stay with the Farrell family.
Naturally, Eric also moved into the Farrell family residence.
Marie was aware of the deeds Stephanie had done; she would not have agreed to their stay, but Tina simply said to let them stay, and she said no more. Seeing her aunt beside her, and Eric, who had fainted upon arrival and was still lying in bed, Stephanie knelt at Marie's feet, crying her eyes out.
"Aunt Marie, I only did those things because I was threatened," Stephanie sobbed messily as she spoke.
"Tina has already punished me by making me take medicine, and now I will listen to everything Tina says and mend my ways."
Marie felt an inexplicable disdain for her niece, unsure whether to call her foolish or just plain stupid.
Seeing that Marie didn't respond, Stephanie clung to her legs.
"Aunt Marie, my mother was killed by the Five Poisons, and the Lyon family is no more. Everything I did was for Eric. Please forgive me."
Marie looked at Stephanie. If she had behaved this way earlier, not causing trouble for Tina or harboring ill intentions, how could she have ended up in such a state? She had once pitied Stephanie for losing her parents, but now she somewhat regretted taking her in.
"Get up," Marie said emotionlessly.
"From now on, work well for Tina and don't entertain those crooked thoughts again."
If it weren't for Tina insisting that Stephanie and her brother stay here, Marie would not even want to glance at them, seeing them as filthy.

Stephanie nodded quickly.
"I understand, Aunt Marie."
After instructing the doctor to check on Eric and ensuring he was alright, Marie left. Stephanie stayed in the room, taking care of her brother, genuinely concerned for him. Otherwise, she wouldn't have engaged in dangerous activities to save him when he was kidnapped by the Five Poisons.
Not long after Marie left, Eric slowly woke up. Seeing Stephanie, he was momentarily stunned before weakly calling out, "Stephanie."
Tears of excitement shimmered in Stephanie's eyes as she hugged him.
"Eric, you've finally woken up. I'm so glad you're okay."
Eric coughed twice, his face showing excitement.
"Stephanie, I thought I'd never see you again."
He looked like he was about to cry again, which might have annoyed others like Philip, but Stephanie was moved by her brother's display. She quickly comforted him, "It's good you're back, it's good. I'll always protect you from now on." Eric hugged her back, nodding vigorously, but his gaze, unseen by Stephanie, held no joy-rather, it carried a faint trace of disdain.
At the hostage location, the iron door swung open from outside as Tina and Jared slowly walked in.
"You've come?" Joshua rose from the floor, a slight smile on his face despite his situation. Since Jared brought him here, he realized that escaping would be difficult.
He was too clever for his own good.
Tina and Jared stood hand in hand at the door, staring coldly at him. Seeing that neither spoke, Joshua broke the silence.
"Jared, you come to visit me and say nothing?"
His demeanor showed none of the awareness that he was now a prisoner.
With a complex expression, Jared remained silent.
Tina calmly patted his hand for comfort, then looked directly at Joshua.
"Five Poisons, we've come especially to tell you, Dorothy Russell has been captured, and you-will never get out again."
