Let Me Go, My Mafia Husband

Chapter 519

Chapter 519 Favourite Position

*Zander*

"Where were you last night?" my voice dripping with accusation as I asked my Beta.

Maddox's brow furrowed as if he tried to recall.

"I was on patrol as usual as it was my turn," he replied, his shoulders lifting in a shrug. But I wasn't convinced.

"Are you sure?" I challenged, my voice sharpening with suspicion..

"Yes! Why are you interrogating me? Wait a minute! Do you suspect me of breaching the security system?" He furrowed his brows deeper.

"Maddox, I discovered your fingerprint on the door unlocking system," I informed him firmly. His expression shifted to one of shock.

"I swear to the Goddess, I didn't enter the data room yesterday. In fact I never entered that room alone and never without you," he insisted as his brows furrowed even deeper in desperation.

I took a step closer, my alpha instincts urging me to push harder for the truth

"Do you really expect me to believe you? Besides me, only you have access to the data room. And your fingerprint was recorded in the system the last time the door was opened," I said, my face contorted with a grimace, as I confronted him. "Zander, please, just stop!" he cried out in frustration, slamming his palms on the table. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, trying to regain his composure.

"I'd rather die than be labeled a traitor. This pack is my home, and I've shed blood for it. I would never betray you or this pack, even if someone were to kill me. Please, believe me, or kill me, but don't call me a traitor," he pleaded.

I could see the truth in his eyes. As the Alpha King, the Goddess had bestowed upon me the ability to peer into someone's eyes and discern whether they were telling the truth or lying. And in that moment, I knew Maddox was telling the truth. "Then, Maddox, this is even more serious because someone has used your fingerprint, and we have no idea who it was," I informed him, and he nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.

Maddox made his way back to the pack house, intending to head toward the training ground.

Lyon and I were filled with restlessness. The puzzle was growing increasingly complex with each passing day.

Needing to release some pent-up energy, I decided to go for a run. Swiftly discarding my clothes, I shifted into my large, black wolf and darted towards the woods.

As I bounded through the royal medicinal garden, Lyon's keen senses detected familiar scent, roses and peaches.

Without wasting any time, I shifted back into my human form and swiftly put on a pair of shorts. We had strategically placed clothes at regular intervals to ensure we didn't end up wandering around naked during emergency shifts. My eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for the source of the captivating aroma.

And there she was.

But what was she doing in the royal medicinal garden? I observed her from behind the cover of a tree. She let out a frustrated sigh and glanced around the garden, her eyebrows furrowed.

Then, her gaze settled in a specific direction, and her face lit up as she walked toward a row of herbs.

Oh, no! Shit!

I sprinted towards her with lightning speed.

Just as she was about to touch the herb, I swiftly grabbed her waist from behind and pulled her away from the plants.

She gasped, startled by the sudden motion.

"What the hell are you doing?! Let me go!" she began cursing, attempting to wriggle out of my grasp.

"What are you doing here, Selena Ardolf?" I asked, whispering into her ear while maintaining a firm hold.

I felt her body tremble in my arms as she took a sharp breath.

"I came to pick up some herbs for your fiancée's face pack, as she instructed me," she murmured, her words barely audible, her heartbeat racing so fast that even I could hear it without relying on my Alpha senses. "So why did you want to kill yourself?" I questioned.

"What do you mean?" She tilted her head slightly, glancing back at me. Her face was so dangerously close to mine, her breath brushing against my lips, tempting me to do something I knew I would regret.

My gaze swept over her face, taking in every minute detail, as I unconsciously muttered, "Because that herb was poisonous, even to touch. No one touches them without wearing gloves."

Her eyes widened as she turned to look at the herb once more. "What the fuck?!" she gasped.

"Where did you learn to curse so much?" I raised an eyebrow, frowning at her choice of words.

"Why do you care? Just let me go, Alpha," she clenched her teeth, her frustration evident as she gritted out her response.

With a sigh, I released my hold on her waist, allowing her to step away. She quickly turned and began to walk away.

"You and your fiancée still want to kill me," she muttered under her breath, her words barely audible. Yet, they reached my ears with crystal clarity.

Startled by my sudden appearance, she came to an abrupt halt, colliding with my chest. Her eyes widened, and her voice quivered with apprehension. "I... I have a lot of work. Please, let me go," she pleaded meekly.

"Are you here to kill me?" I couldn't stop myself from asking the question this time.

A scowl creased her features, and she shook her head vehemently.

"What?!" she exclaimed. "No!" she declared firmly, her expression turning stern, as if

"Because..." Her voice quivered as she swallowed, and her enchanting big eyes locked with mine. "...because I don't feel anything for you."

"Then prove it," I whispered, gently encircling her waist with my arm and drawing her closer to me.

"What...what are you doing?" Selena's eyes widened, her words stumbling out.

"I'm giving you a chance to convince yourself that you don't feel anything for me," I responded. "That you're not turned on and don't become wet with desire when I'm near. Your body doesn't melt under my touch, and you don't yearn for me when I kiss you. Prove to me that I don't cross your mind on those impassioned nights and in your dreams."

I leaned closer, my lips hovering just above hers, our breaths mingling, my self-control waning.

"Are you...are you serious? Why would I feel anything for you when...when we've both rejected each other?" she stammered, her voice breathless. "You rejected me," I snapped.

"And you rejected me too," she retorted, staring back at me defiantly.

Fueled by anger, I pressed hernoveldrama

beneath my body as the painful memories of that unfortunate day resurfaced. She flinched at first but soon glared at me, refusing to back

We stood there, locked in a mesmerizing gaze, our chests rising and falling with rapid breaths. Our bodies were pressed tightly against each other, and her delicate hands found their place on my bare chest, igniting a surge of sensations that coursed

through me.

"Selena,"I whispered, my voice filled with a mix of longing and caution. "Hmm," she exhaled, her breath mingling with mine.

"If you mix that herb in my food, I will die," I sighed, looking at her hopelessly. She blinked, once and then twice, clearly taken aback by my statement.

"What do you mean?" she furrowed

her brow, her expression filled with confusion. "You could easily kill me if that's what you..." My words were cut off as her hands swiftly covered my mouth.

"I can't...kill you," she whispered, her gaze fixed on my eyes. A smile curled upon my lips as I softly kissed her palm.

It was as if she suddenly snapped out of her trance, pulling her hand away and averting her eyes.

Goddess, now I truly desired to kiss her.

"I love it when you're writhing beneath me, moaning my name," I blurted out, unable to restrain myself.

Her eyes snapped back to mine, her lips parting in surprise.

"You asked me yesterday about my favorite position in sex when I made love to

you," I smirked, my hands caressing her soft, enticing curves. She shivered, desire flickering in her eyes, but she blinked and tried to appear angry.

"You're always so domineering, always craving control," she murmured irritably, making me furrow my brow.

I swiftly changed our positions, rolling her so that she was now pressed on top of me, my back against the trunk of a tree.

"Happy?!" I asked, a delighted grin spreading across my face as her cheeks turned a lovely shade of pink.
