Chapter 55
Chapter 55
"Then why didn't you tell Grandma that you are in love with someone else?" Lenny asked somewhat
angrily.
"Well..." Scarlet was rendered speechless for a moment. "Because I don't want anyone to know about
my feelings for Mr. Smith. Besides, it's nobody's business but mine."
"So you brought me inconvenience on purpose? You know that Rosaline is in a poor mental state and
that she's a fragile young woman. How could you put her in this situation?"
"Let me ask you something, Lenny. Do you really know her?" Scarlet asked, frowning.
"Whether I know her or not, I will still marry her."
This was his promise.
He took away her virginity and got her pregnant with his child. He must take responsibility. Even if he
had no feelings for Rosaline, he would still keep his word.
Lenny's statement stunned Scarlet into silence.
"Very well. I didn't mean to make trouble for you. I don't want to live with you either," she muttered,
crossed her arms, and then looked out the window.
They kept silent the entire trip.
When they arrived at the villa, Drake had just finished packing Rosaline's luggage.
She was crying her heart out in her room. She had to leave tonight.
Lenny went upstairs to comfort her.
"Lenny, I don't want to leave you. Can't I stay here with you?"
"Do you want to marry me?"
"Of course. That's all I want. You know that I love you and want to be with you for the rest of my life."
"Then we only have to be apart for three months. When everything's completely over between me and
Scarlet, I will marry you immediately."
"Really? Do you mean it?"
Rosaline blinked her red eyes and looked at him pitifully.
"I will be responsible for you."
"Okay. Then I will leave and wait for you. But before I do, will you tell me that you love me?"
Rosaline had never heard the word "love" from Lenny. He didn't even seem to like anything.
He worked out every day not because he liked it but because he had gotten used to it.
He often drank coffee not because he liked it but because he needed it to refresh himself at work.
He usually wore suits and seldom wore casual clothes. It wasn't because he liked it but because it was
suitable for his identity.
She had no idea what Lenny liked or loved.
Although he appeared to be so strong and invincible, his heart seemed to be desolate and lonely.
Did he really know what he wanted?
It was his responsibility to take over the Foster Group.
It was his responsibility to marry Scarlet.
And now it was his responsibility to marry her.
He was indeed a responsible man, but did he really know what love was?
Lenny pursed his lips. He found the words "I love you" to be affectionate yet hypocritical. It was difficult
for him to get these words out of his mouth.
"Drake is waiting for you," he said calmly.
"I guess it doesn't matter. We have ample time in the future. I can wait. I will wait until you really fall in
love with me, until you have only me in your heart."
Rosaline leaned in, stood on tiptoe, and attempted to kiss Lenny on the lips, but Lenny instinctively
grabbed her by the arm and stopped her.
"Have you forgotten that night when you kissed me so passionately?" she asked.
He got a little restless when she mentioned it.
What he felt that night was extraordinary, and it had turned into an indelible memory in his mind.
That fateful night, he wildly made love to that young woman over and over. He didn't know then if he
was operating on instinct or on the effects of the drug. All he knew was that he wanted that woman and
her petite body and to make her bear all his lust and desire. He brought their bodies so impossibly
close that they almost melded together.
He kissed her hungrily and passionately and enjoyed her beauty.
But that was the last time that he felt that way. With Rosaline by his side, he felt virtually nothing.
But even if he didn't have feelings for her, he would still honor his promise.
"Let me see you out."
Lenny stood up.
Rosaline was frustrated. She thought that Lenny must really be impotent.
She wasn't the woman who had sex with him that night. She didn't know whether or not Lenny was
great in bed. Maybe it was the drug that made him virile that night.
Damn it! This man was tall and looked strong. She didn't expect that he was weak inside.
Rosaline went downstairs unwillingly and met Scarlet's eyes. She couldn't help clenching her hands
and looking at Scarlet with resentment.
Scarlet's scalp tingled under Rosaline's intense gaze. She didn't want this to happen. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
When Rosaline walked up to Scarlet, she knelt down in front of her.
Everyone present was shocked.
