She Lost Love, Gained a Fortune 138
Chapter 138 Furry Companion
Darya nodded nonchalantly. 'Seems like her visit was prompted by the drop in Zenith's stock price. Morton must have asked her to apologise to me. But it was hardly an apology, more like a high and mighty show. Anyone witnessing it would think she came to scold me."
Morton's audacity infuriated Matthias.
Despite Darya's true identity being made public, Felicia still dared to act this way.
It was a clear indication of the suffering Darya had endured during her time with the Cavanaughs.
'Don't worry, I'll make sure she's taught a lesson,' Matthias assured, ruffling Darya's hair before grabbing his phone to call Morton.

As the McAllister household exuded warmth and comfort, the Cavanaughs were in a state of restlessness.
'You're utterly useless! Morton bellowed as soon as Felicia stepped into the house, hurling a coffee mug that harrowly missed her head.
Felicia took a deep breath, ready to conjure an excuse to cover up her actions from today, but Morton pre-empted her.
He interrupted, his expression stern, 'Matthias called me. He said you waltzed into the Paragon Group like some self-proclaimed queen, mocking Darya along the way. Was that how you apologised? Don't you have any common sense at all? How did I end up with an imbecile daughter like you?'
Felicia never expected Darya to strike first and complain to Morton.
No matter how she tried to explain herself, she knew Morton wouldn't believe her. His mind was made up.
'Go to your room! Don't ever think of asking me for money again!' Morton's voice thundered as he glared at
Felicia.
Fear washed over Felicia, and she looked to Judy for support, hoping she would intervene.
However, Judy, always intimidated by Morton, remained silent, afraid to make a sound.
Felicia realised she was on her own.
There was no use fighting back.
She reluctantly accepted her defeat and obediently went upstairs.

After dinner, as Darya took a leisurely stroll in the garden, she wondered what Felicia was doing right now.
Probably being reprimanded by old man Morton, Darya thought."
It was satisfying to know that she had dealt with two enemies in a single day.
Just as Darya returned to her room and pondered her plans for the evening, her phone rang.
'Bianca, what's up?' Darya lounged on her bed, one hand holding her tablet, the other her phone.
'Let's hang out tomorrow night. Come to the club with me.'noveldrama
Darya considered her schedule for the next day and agreed, 'Sure.'
'The Crystal Chalice?'
'Okay, but what made you suddenly want to go to a club?'
'There's an event there tomorrow night, and I want to have some fun,' Bianca replied, her boredom evident as she examined her manicured nails.
'Okay, see you tomorrow,' Darya confirmed, ending the call.
Marshmallow bounded into the room, rubbing against Darya's leg affectionately. 'Mommy, Brooke is going to upgrade my system tomorrow. I've already asked Callan to come along.'
Darya smiled at her furry companion but couldn't help but worry.
Callan's celebrity status could draw unwanted attention.
'All right, but keep an eye on Callan when you're outside. Don't let him expose his identity. And protect him from crazy fans.'
Marshmallow nodded, wagging its tail in understanding.
The next morning, Darya went to work at the Paragon Group as usual, while Callan, donning his disguise of black sunglasses, black mask, black t-shirt and black pants, accompanied Marshmallow to the lab.
They didn't go to the Gerber Lab.
To protect Callan from the prying public eye, Brooke granted them access to her private lab instead.
Though smaller than Solaro's, Brooke's lab was still impressive.
When Callan and Marshmallow arrived, Brooke was already there, waiting anxiously.
'Brooke!' Marshmallow exclaimed with delight, leaping off Callan's shoulder and into Brooke's arms.
She warmly embraced the fluffy creature, stroking its head.
Then, she noticed Callan entering and couldn't help but blush a little.
Callan removed his mask and sunglasses, revealing his captivating eyes and expressive eyebrows.
He smiled at Brooke, exuding the charm of a superstar. 'You must be Brooke. Hello.'

Chapter 138 Furry Companion
Brooke, who had longed to meet Callan, suddenly found herself at a loss for words when faced with his
presence
Her brain seemed to freeze.
Marshmallow, this little rascal, always talks about you at home, praising how incredible you are. I knew you are an experienced scientist, but I didn't expect you
to be so young,' Callan, being his lively self, chattered away
without hesitation.
Blushing, Brooke responded, 'I'm not that great, really."
Encouraged by her idol's praise, Brooke rushed to make him coffee, trying to calm her racing emotions.
She set Marshmallow down, and with her back turned to Callan, she hurriedly prepared his coffee.
Marshmallow, sensing Brooke's excitement, frolicked over to Callan's side and whispered, 'See? I told you Brooke was a young and beautiful woman, but you didn't believe me. Do you believe me now?"
Glancing at Brooke, Callan nodded absently. 'Yes, yes, I believe you.'
As he took in the equipment around the lab, he wondered why Marshmallow had insisted on dragging him
along-
It was a moonlit night, with an air of excitement hanging over the city. Darya had just finished her dinner when Bianca proposed going to the glamorous Crystal Chalice.
Little did they know that it had been reserved for an exclusive gathering of affluent young elites, courtesy of a mysterious benefactor.
Eager for a good time, Bianca convinced Darya to join her in the festivities.
'You won't believe the crowd that's here tonight,' Bianca whispered mischievously, scanning the room as if on the hunt for prey. 'We might just find someone worth our while. Trust me, there's no one worse than that Scoundrel Micah!"
Darya couldn't help but laugh. 'Are you suggesting we're here to find boy toys?'
Bianca playfully nudged Darya's arm. 'Oh, come on! Let's just have some fun and forget about that whole Micah mess. You could use a distraction.'
Darya reluctantly agreed and settled in a secluded corner of the bar, uninterested in the revelry.
She took out her phone and pretended to check the stock market, seeking solace in her familiar routine.
Suddenly, a well-dressed young man sauntered over, a smug smile playing on his lips as he appraised Darya.
What do you think?
