Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Aler POV
“Momning pretty doll I greet Lottie’s tired eyes, as she trudges her way into the kitchen – still half asleep.
I had woken her up for breakfast which I had prepared, as Anna also follows in moments after.
“Coffee! I need a coffee!” Anna complains, rubbing her eyes, as I laugh at the state of them both… evidently not morning people that’s for sure. Jace and Del enter, Jace fresh and ready for the day as Del, like the girls, is still half asleep as he walks in wearing nothing other than boxer shorts, “Del! Put clothes on! Anna scolds, as Lottie laughs a little before yawning
“Fuck that! This is my house!” Del complains, as he hops up onto the counter stool and stacks a plate with breakfast food.
“Any update yet?”
Jace asks me next, as Anna stands by the iced coffee machine and waits patiently for it to prepare.
The first group are at their posts, no sighting yet though, but he did reply to my message yesterday.” I explain, keeping a low tone, before fishing the iPhone out from my back pocket.
I get the messages up, as opposed to reading it out loud since I didn’t want Lottie to be involved or to hear anything.
Jace’s eyes scan over my last message which was – Game on… that is if your Dads beat up old truck doesn’t breakdown on the way here!”
Followed by their
response
“We didn’t take the tr
truck doll so don’t worry about it! See you soon!
I didn’t respond after that, instead I researched what other ways you could get to town from where they are and the train was another option – a faster one – but it involved getting two separate trains.
You could also fly in to another town which is a thirty minute drive from here which I doubt they would’ve done since it just seems like too much hassle…
Or there’s the bus, which I believe is the most reasonable choice, but for all I know, they could’ve hopped a bus the night of the damn festival!
“Let’s head back out today, check out the school again, we could ask the office if anyone’s been in looking for Lottie.” Jace states, as I nod in agreement with the plan.
“Another pool day sunbathing for you two!” Jace states, as Anna
as Anna and Lottie remain silent–eating their breakfast and drinking their coffee.
“Doesn’t sound like a bad deal! Del comments, stuffing his face, before I smirk…
“Del you’ll be staying back today too… we will all take turns of staying home as an extra precaution… I thought it through, and they could find out anything just by speaking to people at school.” I admit my thoughts, as Del rolls his eyes and waves his hand.
“Whatever, have fun.” Del states, as Jace sniggers,
I kiss Lottie on the head, causing her cheeks to blush which only makes me chuckle, before I follow Jace off towards the front door – eager to investigate further.
I’ll find them…
The sun was already shining brightly, promising a warm summer day ahead, which I was thankful for as the girls wouldn’t mind another pool day in the heat…
We made our way to the school, the place where Lottie had first entered our lives. The hallways seemed eerily quiet as we walked through during class time, occasionally passing by a few staff members who were busy with their tasks.
We step inside the office, a middle–aged woman with glasses looked up from her paperwork as we entered. Her friendly smile faded slightly as she saw
the determined expression on our faces… she wasn’t a big fan of us from past encounters….
“Good morning. How can I help you boys? Shouldn’t you be in class?” she asked, her voice filled with curiosity and whit
Jace took the lead. “We’re wondering if anyone has been in asking about a student named Lottie Sanchez?” He concludes brielly.
The woman’s expression turns sour as she listens. She then sighs and crosses her arms, clearly hesitant to provide any information. “Look, I’ve told you before, I can’t just give out student information like that. It’s against the rules and heaven only knows what you two would do with it!”
Jace stepped forward, his tone firm but polite. “We understand your position, but Lottie’s safety is at stake here. We have reason to believe that some individuals who have caused her harm in the past
might be looking for her. We are her friends… she’s even scared to come in to school now so we just want to know if it’s safe!” He snaps slightly towards the end.
The woman’s eyes widen, a hint of concern flickering across her face. “L.. I see. I can’t confirm anything, but there was an incident yesterday. Three individuals came by, asking about Lottie at the end of the school day. They seemed aggressive and irritated when I told them I couldn’t tell them anything.” The office lady tells us in a whisper, evidently anxious and unsure of what she was getting herself involved in.
Bastards!
My grip tightened as I balled up my fists, a surge of protectiveness washing over me. “So you definitely didn’t provide them with any information?” I ask next, wanting to be sure.
She shook her head. “No, I refused to disclose anything. They left in a huff, but I can’t say where they went or who they spoke to after that.” She rushes.
Jace and I nod briefly, appreciating her discretion. Thank you for letting us know, We’ll handle this from here. Can we leave a number and you can let us know if they come back? We only want to help Lottie and keep her safe.” I ask, as she nods instantly and pushes her glasses up her nose before fetching a sticky note,
I write my number down, thank her once more, as we left the office. A sense of urgency filled the air once again, knowing they had in fact turned up to the school yesterday after we had left.
We knew we couldn’t waste any more time. We needed to protect Lottle and ensure her safety.
“Tell two of the guys to wait at the school for it finishing… they might come back around the same time!” I state as we walk out into the car park, scanning our surroundings on the way to the car.
We make a quick call to a couple of our gang members stationed around town. We instruct two of them to keep an eye on the school until classes end, in case Tommy, Jason, and Holden return. We emphasize the importance of remaining inconspicuous and not alerting the bullies to their presence.
With our plan in motion, we drive back home, our minds racing with thoughts of how to catch them…..
We need them to meet Freddie.
A sudden incoming call from Anna comes through the car, as I answer it instantly–worried something might have happened while we were go
“Alex?” She speaks instantly.
“What is it?” I ask, growing impatient already.
“Could you du me a favour?” Anna asks next, as Jace rolls his eyes from beside me.
Let’s just be thankful that it’s nothing serious!
“What?” I want her to continue, as we stop briefly at a set of lights. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
gone…
*Swing by my place and pick up my mail? It’s in my lockbox and the code is 8262… my parents posted my birthday gifts so they should be there today.” Anna asks, the slight excitement clear in her tone.
“Sure.” 1 state briefly, before she thanks us and hangs up.
*I fucking forgot that her birthday is in two days! We will need to do something we can’t keep them locked up in Dels forever!” Jace groans, rubbing a hand down his face as I indicate to turn onto a new road–heading towards Anna’s home now,
כיב
“We will figure it out.” I state, knowing he was right
it on the matter.
It wouldn’t be fair for Anna to miss celebrating her birthday due to those fuckers running around town. There must be something we can organise, something safe.
I turn down onto Lottie’s street, before pulling up right outside her house. We exit the car, as lace goes around the side to where her lockbox is located to collect her parcels while I walk up to the front door–noticing a white letter hanging from the mouth of the letterbox.
I pull the letter from its grasp. , not bothering much for it… that is until I turn it over and read what is written on the front….
Found you princess…
