Chapter 1120: Unfinished Business Between Him and Me
After listening to Allan, Zane fell silent for a few seconds. "How does Evan feel about this matter?"
"He doesn't know yet," Allan answered, taking a drag from his cigarette. His tone was slightly heavy.
"Those people are after me."
As Zane heard Allan's words, he turned to look at him. "Is it related to him?"
Both of them knew exactly who he was referring to.
In Allan's circle, the people who would target him were none other than Nealon's people.
Allan absentmindedly ruffled his slightly disheveled hair, speaking softly, "It's somewhat related, but this
matter isn't entirely because of him. You don't need to think too much about it; I'll handle it."
Zane didn't press further and said straightforwardly, "If you need anything, just find Albi. He'll help you
arrange it."
"You're not going to ask for more details?" Allan turned to look at Zane, speaking in a hushed tone.
Zane raised an eyebrow, meeting Allan's gaze. "What do you want me to ask in detail? Would you tell
me if I did?"
Allan took the cigarette from his lips, playing with it between his fingers. His voice revealed no extra
emotion. "I just don't want to involve people around me, especially you guys."
Hearing Allan's words, a crease formed on Zane's brow. "Is there unfinished business between you and
him?"
Allan chuckled lightly. "Finished? You really don't understand our line of work. Wrapping things up isn't
so easy."
"How then?" Zane asked, looking at Allan.
Allan shook his head gently. "It's better for you guys not to know the specifics."
After saying that, Allan stood up. "It's getting late. I'll take Reed back."
Zane tilted his head slightly, looking at Allan. "You're not staying for dinner? Reed promised Yanis
they'd have dinner here. Are you going back by yourself?"
Upon hearing Zane's words, Allan stood still for a moment before sitting back down. "Considering your
sincere invitation to have dinner at your house, I'll reluctantly accept."
Zane gave Allan a brief look and then stood up, tossing the cigarette he had been holding between his
fingers to Allan. "Get this area sorted before dinner."
Allan sighed lightly, stood up, and placed the two almost ruined cigarettes in his hand aside. "You're
really... not likable."
As Zane was rearranging the pots, he replied, "You're not the first person to say that."
Allan paused and looked at Zane, his voice carrying a touch of curiosity. "There are others?"
Zane replied, "Ivan, Iris."
Allan chuckled. "That means you're really not likable. I'm curious why Yanis likes you so much."
Zane didn't respond to Allan's remark, finishing arranging the pots, then started giving Allan clear
instructions on what to do.
Allan didn't protest, and Zane's directions were promptly executed.
The two of them worked in the backyard until evening, finally getting it all organized.
Looking at the neatly arranged rows of flowers, Allan felt a sense of accomplishment. "When we
change houses, let's find one with a backyard. We can plant flowers that Reed likes. I seem to have a Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
knack for it."
Zane cast a disdainful look at Allan. "You certainly have a knack for arranging."
"What's wrong? I can't take care of these plants?" Allan glanced at Zane sideways. "Let me tell you,
don't underestimate me."
Without responding to Allan, Zane turned and headed indoors. "Isn't Evan the kind of person who finds
things troublesome? Don't think that you can solve everything in Manches City; more people means
more solutions. Sometimes people need to bow down."
Listening to Zane's words, Allan didn't agree, but he had a different thought in mind.
After they entered the house, they were greeted by the aroma of hotpot.
Both of them had been working outside all afternoon, not realizing that someone had prepared a hotpot
meal.
Zane and Allan instinctively walked toward their respective loved ones.
Especially Zane, who walked up to Yanis in three quick steps. "Yanis."
Yanis was picking vegetables and looked up when Zane hurried over. "What's wrong?"
"Do you want hotpot?"
Yanis made a sound of agreement. "Aunt Alice prepared a dual-flavor hotpot. Reed and I will have the
non-spicy side, and you guys can have the spicy one."
After saying that, Yanis' gaze landed on Zane. "Go wash up quickly; dinner will be ready soon."
Zane took a deep breath and lowered his voice, "It's not nutritious."
Yanis made an exasperated sound. "It's not like we're eating it every day. Just this once. Stop
complaining. And I'm not eating spicy."
Zane was about to refuse but hesitated when he met Yanis' gaze. His original words got stuck on his
tongue. "Then eat less. If you get hungry later, Aunt Alice can prepare something else for you."
Seeing Zane relent, Yanis also didn't push further. She nodded repeatedly. "Alright, I'll eat less. I won't
eat too much."
Zane gave up and sighed, "Then I'll freshen up and change clothes. Don't move; let Aunt Alice and
Aunt Gloria prepare everything. Rest over there."
Yanis nodded. "Alright, I got it."
Worried that Yanis might go against her word and start working again, Zane directly took Yanis by the
hand and placed her on the couch before heading upstairs.
On the other side, Allan walked over to Reed. He began by washing his hands in silence before moving
closer to Reed. "Do you want hotpot?"
Reed didn't notice Allan's gaze and replied while arranging things, "I'd like a bit."
Allan pursed his lips.
"Reed, your body hasn't fully recovered. You shouldn't eat this."
Reed's hands paused in their movements. "Don't worry, I won't eat the spicy side. Yanis and I will have
the non-spicy one. I'll eat less, so it won't have much impact."
Allan wanted to say something else, but Reed's voice sounded again. "It's alright; you don't need to
worry. I know my limits. Besides, I don't want to ruin Yanis and Sandy's good mood."
Unable to express what he wanted, Allan could only nod. "Then eat less, and later, I'll prepare
something else for you when I get back."
Reed nodded. "Got it. Why don't you go freshen up? There are spare clothes in the car. Change into
them."
Allan shook his head. "No need. I'll help you wash up."
"Why am I being so obtuse? I came here to have hotpot with you two, but it's almost as if I'd be better
off eating by myself." Sandy had listened to the interaction between Zane and Allan earlier and sighed
with exasperation.
Yanis looked at her. "You won't fully enjoy it if you eat alone."
"I... could find someone else."
"Who would you find? Anthony?" Allan turned his head to look at Sandy. "Aren't you afraid Mr. Hawkins
will rush over tonight?"
