His Reluctant Luna

Chapter 64 - Happiness

Six months later --

Alice -

Sunlight was streaming through the picture window on the east wall, warming the bed. I walked out of the shower and saw Lucian stirring in the bed.

"Sorry," I said softly. "I didn't mean to wake you."

The bedsheet fell away from his body as he leaned to kiss me.

"What time is it?" He asked.

"A little past six," I replied, and got out of the bed. I walked towards the window and glanced out in the morning.

"Why don't you come back to bed?" He asked.

"No, I was just going to take a shower and head into work," I responded.

"It's so early," he said through a yawn.

"I know, but I've got an important meeting today. I'm going to take a shower. Go back to sleep." I said.

"You sure you can't come back to bed?" He asked again as I applied lipstick and flashed him a quick smile in the mirror.

"I'm all ready to go now," I said.

"I am too," he said while nodding towards the bulge in the covers.

I giggled.

"You know that isn't what I mean. Can you come here, and zip me up?"

He slowly got out of bed and walked over slowly and put his arms around my waist. He rested his chin on my shoulder and kissed my cheek. The sight of the two of us in the mirror made me smile. It had been 6 months since that event. Things had been settling down slowly. The pack was living in peace. When the new members from the black stone pack had arrived. Meg found her mate among them. The once abused and submissive girl had bloomed into a happy and confident woman because her mate supported her. Being a Luna of such a big pack was challenging. I was still learning the ropes of managing the pack, Katherine, and Rain were a big help. I was also required to accompany Lucian to all pack meetings, and business meetings to understand how it was run.

I had joined his architecture firm as well, it was part-time, so I didn't have to visit the office every day, but I loved doing what I have always enjoyed, designing buildings. It gave me creative satisfaction and Lucian was happy with my work. As we stood in front of the mirror, he rubbed his lips on my neck.

"Please come back to bed, honey," he said.

I smiled wickedly.noveldrama

"Mmm, you know I'd like to. But I need to win those contracts. I have a very feisty boss. Come on, be a good boy and zip my dress."

He leaned forward to kiss me.

"No," I said with a giggle. "You'll mess my makeup. And I have to leave, so just zip me up."

"Well, if you are worried, we can stop," he joked.

I freed myself from his grasp and turned to face him. We embraced one another and exchanged a slow, passionate kiss. He sucked on my bottom lip as I probed his mouth with my tongue.

"See you at work," I grinned back at him as I managed to escape from his embrace.

An hour and a half later, I was sitting in the crowded conference room for the meeting. I gazed at Lucian in the far corner. He didn't return my stare. He behaved very professionally at work. Our work schedules were different to avoid sexual tension. He owned several businesses, so he visited different ones each day depending on his preferences. However, he had been dropping into my workplace more frequently. He assured me it had nothing to do with his protective attitude. But I knew better. I moved to the front of the room and started to drone through my presentation.

'That was brilliant,' Lucian said in my mind after I had gone back to my seat.

'Thank you,' I replied, trying to keep a straight face. Many of the employees were humans, and it would be weird to smile in a boardroom for no reason.

'We are getting the contract, I heard Randell.' Lucian spoke.

'I heard it too. Perks of being a wolf. I wasn't expecting you to attend this meeting,' I replied.

'I was missing you, should we celebrate your success with dinner?'

'Is it a date ?' I asked.

'I can make it one,' he replied.

'Meet me in my office, I have to show you something before I leave.'

I observed Lucian leaning by the door. Dressed in an impeccable dark suit. He looked delicious.

My assistant Max pointed towards the laptop. "Well, the invert elevations don't seem to match the reference points we set up the other day. Is it something we can send an assistant to re-do, or do we have to recalculate the whole mess?"

I was half paying attention to the jargon coming from Max's direction, my head still tilted the other way.

"I'm uncertain whether the entire set is wrong or not......" Max trailed off, focusing on his computer.

"Max, let's do this tomorrow," I said dismissing him.

He stopped suddenly and stared at the door. Max was a human, he couldn't sense Lucian's presence.

"Oh! Right," he left after shutting down the laptop.

"Good day, boss," Max said while leaving the chamber.

"Do you enjoy working with my wife?" Lucian asked.

For humans, we were husband and wife. We even got married in court for legal

purposes.

"Yes boss," Max replied, a little intimidated.

"Good, now leave!" Lucian commanded. Max almost ran out of the room.

"Stop scaring my staff," I joked.

Lucian walked in smiling, making sure to lock the door behind him.

"I need to keep them in check so that they don't hit on my lovely mate." He said as

he prowled towards me.

I rolled my eyes," nobody's hitting on me. Come here," I clicked on my laptop.

He stood next to me and leaned forward. His one hand on the back of my chair

and the other on the table. His jaws were barely an inch away from my lips. I was aroused, but I had to focus on the task ahead.
