His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 661

Hospital.

The corridors carried a faint antiseptic scent, with sunlight streaming through the windows, creating a warm, dappled pattern on the polished floors, adding a cozy touch to the tranquil space.

Caleb strolled in with a tube of burn ointment to check on Casper.

Swinging open the ward door, he caught Casper in the middle of playfully fussing over Eliza, a tone way different from his usual calm demeanor.

"Whoa, did I just step onto the wrong movie set?" Caleb teased, covering his eyes dramatically, a grin spreading across his face. "Is this really my no-nonsense, serious big brother? This whole cutesy act, it's just... pure happiness, sweetness -I'm green with envy!"noveldrama

Casper saw nothing out of the ordinary. Married life doesn't always stick to formalities.

Eliza, easily flustered, felt a bit awkward under Caleb's playful ribbing.

"Dr. Caleb is here." Eliza gently slipped her hand from Casper's grip and stepped aside.

Feeling that emptiness, Casper shot Caleb a look, "Watch your words in front of your sister-in-law."

Caleb: ...??

"Come on, bro, I wasn't out of line, you know..." Casper chuckled, handing over the ointment, "...here, I brought this just for you."

"Leave it there." Feeling weary, he gestured for Caleb to help him up, "Give me a hand to sit up for a bit."

Caleb quickly helped Casper into a sitting position on the bed, letting out a sigh, "Bro, your back's been through the wringer, I really feel for you."

"Oh, knock it off." He eyed Caleb, "You didn't just swing by to drop off meds, did you? What else is on your mind?"

At Welton Hospital, they had every medicine under the sun. Why make a special delivery?

Caleb scratched his nose, a sheepish grin on his face, "Bro, you're too sharp. So, the other day, I was at my mentor's lab and stumbled on something mind- blowing."

Casper frowned. Was this about him?

"What's up?"

"They took on a client's request for a gene analysis, working on a drug

that could cause paralysis and could

dementia. The research is almost wrapped up. My mentor mentioned the client paid a ton, and myo curiosity got the better of me, so I peeked at the client's name. Guess who?"

Casper, puzzled, ventured a guess, "It's not my name, is it?"

Caleb shook his head with a grin, "Nope, such gene research only works on the subject themselves. It's Zach."

"Him?"

"Yep, him. What's he planning with this drug? He's not gonna use it on himself, right?"

This drug targets specific genes and would work the same on anyone sharing Zach's genetic makeup.

Meaning, it would affect anyone net

related to Zach by blood in the same way. And who shares Zach's

bloodline? None other than all the

Welton family children.

A drug designed for specific genes, it might not work wonders in curing diseases,

but causing harm? Swift, precise, deadly.

"Bro, what do you think Zach wants with this drug? Gunning for you? Or someone else?"

Casper didn't need to guess Zach's intentions, "Of course, it's aimed at me, who else could it be?"

Caleb thought it was likely too. However, targeting Casper seemed a bit of a stretch. His kids, Brock and Brett, on the other hand, seemed like more plausible targets.

"Oh man, bro, he's probably after Brock and Brett, huh?"

Hearing this, Eliza's heart skipped beat, her hand trembling as she reached for the juice, "He's planning to goafter Brock and Brett? Zach's completely lost it." fo

"Sister-in-law, try not to panic just yet. I'm guessing that's his plan, but the drug

isn't finished yet. We can still step in and stop him."

Eliza's anxious, worried eyes turned towards Casper.
