Chapter twenty two
“Okay, listen” Tasha readjusted herself Infront of Austin, “I’m not dead”
“You are not what?” Austin said, confused with what she just said.
“I’m not dead” she repeated with a bright face, Austin sat there looking confused with what she was saying and couldn’t understand why she was so happy about it.
“Is this why you’ve made it your life mission to ruin my life” Austin shrugged, “Just to tell me you weren’t dead”
“I didn’t make you my life mission,” she scoffed.
“So what is it witch, I need to go to class.”
Tasha gasped, “you did not just call me a witch.”
His eyes shot back, indicating he had no intention to take it back.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Well, I’ll let that slide just because I need your help”
“Whatever,” Austin rolled his eyes in discomfort, being under the sun for that long was already getting to him. “Just state what it is you want. I do not know if ghosts feel things, but this sun is competing with hell, so be fast”
Tasha swallowed hard, bracing herself up for what she needed to say ” I need you to help me get back into my body”
Her request followed with utter silence, Austin stared at her with no expression on his face, wondering if she was joking about it. Tasha on the other hand couldn’t understand why he was silent after what she just said and wondered if he even heard her.
“Wait, you are actually serious?” Austin bursted into laughter, hitting his thighs as he was at it. He had been waiting for her to probably say it was one of her lousy ways of trying to tease him or get him upset but it turned out she wasn’t joking.
“Girl you are dead,” he stood up packing up his kits and changing into his sneakers for class. “Just accept it and move on, that way you’ll probably go to hell, where you are supposed to be.”
Tasha felt insulted with what he had just said, his outburst only made her feel worse than other incidents that had happened.
She was serious about this and he joked about it.
“Hey hey, I’m being serious” she pleaded, “you asked me what I wanted, and this is it, Just help me”
Austin couldn’t believe her even if he wanted to “Just look for someone else out there who has been in a coma for once in their life. I’m pretty sure they’d be down to help a beautiful lost Ghost. I’m just not your Guy Tasha” he retorted.
Tasha stood there with her heart in her hands, he was her only hope of getting back into the land of the living and it just went flying. So that was why he could see her?
She thought about him getting into a coma, and it only increased her desire to want to get him to work with her. She needed to hear his story, maybe he roamed around like her and probably got back to his body in one way or another. She knew she needed him more than ever now and this rejection she got from him wouldn’t stop her from trying again.
Tasha laid back on the grass and stared hard into space. She let out a sigh of relief and her face broke out a smile. She suddenly felt closer than ever, like she might actually find an answer to her problem. She might be going back to her city, being around friends again, going clubbing and not having to wear these clothes that lack style. She stared at herself unimpressed, now she thought about the possible strategies that would force or convince Austin into helping her.
****************
Austin got into class but didn’t see Nala there. Luckily for him, it was before the teacher who took them chemistry, he was known for his uptight ways, which included you staying out once he’s in class.
His thoughts were clouded with what Tasha had just dropped on him, he began to think about different possibilities on how she might be right, that’s if she had been serious with him. Why only he can see her and what body was she talking about?
Did she know where she died?
All these thoughts kept bugging him until he saw Jade walk into class and his heart skipped a beat. This was supposed to be the last day of his suspension and he’s getting into class when the day is almost over. His presence brought about a different atmosphere in class, students jumping on the table, some were busy chanting his name and others drumming on the table. Austin just sat there with his Jaw dropped. Jade eyes met his and he winked at him with a smile, Austin did not understand why that happened. The Jade he knew would be plotting a revenge against him and brother, he never took an insult likely, talk more about what his brother did to him.
What scared him most was that the smile and wink looked genuine and real, why was that the case. This Jade had a calm aura, with every step he took, the class went wild and what didn’t leave his face was that smile. He shaked different students on his way to his seat, immediately he got a o Austin’s, he paused, tapped his shoulder and leaned towards him.
“Hey Austin, I missed you. Tell your brother I said Hi”
Austin sighed and cursed beneath his breath, he knew nothing could change with Jade. This was probably all a Show to make people think he had changed.
The class went totally silent, for a second Austin thought the lecturer was in class already. But to his surprise, it was Allen walking in tapping his fingers on each desk as he strolled towards Jade’s desk.
Austin just couldn’t fathom how someone would love violence and chaos so much. Everyone stood still, looking at Allen waiting for something to drop, maybe a word or a punch. Allen went past Austin like he meant nothing to him but nothing could have made him happier than that, Austin wished everyone in school would forget they were related.
“I guess three days means two and half days for you right,” Allen said as he stopped right before Jade’s desk who was leaning back and still retaining his smile.
“What can I say,” he replied, “A king, is always a king”
Allen with a mischievous smile, Austin could tell his brother was up to no good and it bothered him.
“Well, truce? Or you’d still want to get another beating?” Allen proposed with all confidence and the class let out a roar teasing Jade, but he responded with his hands up telling them to stop.
Jade stood up, and went close to Allen. Austin covered his face waiting for someone to throw the first punch, but he didn’t want to see it.
Jade smiled and struck out his hands to shake Allen “Truce”
“Good choice” Allen smiled back and shook his hands.
The class booed Jade, it was obvious they were anxiously waiting for another classic fight. This time they would be there to witness it. Austin’s gut never allowed him to believe that this was the end between Jade and his brother, he could tell Jade was probably planning something and his brother wasn’t stupid enough to let his guard down or just to expect things to die down between them. There was just so much going through Austin’s mind and he was beginning to get weighed down by them.
