Forgotten Wife: Let the Traitors Kneel Down

Chapter 148

CHAPTER 155: SADNESS AND PAIN

Alessandro saw Cassian strange, his face reflected sadness and pain, as if he had lost something important and the answer he had given him left him a little worried, he asked him.

_ How did your mission go?

Cassian took out the key he had hanging around his neck and threw it on the table, with some displeasure.

_ My mission was fulfilled.

Cassian was someone who always kept his feelings to himself, so Alessandro wondered what had happened on his trip for him to come back so broken.

_ You don’t look very well Cassian, what happened?

Clenching his fists tightly, his face marked by pain Cassian replied.

_ It’s Maya. _ What happened to her? Have you argued?noveldrama

Cassian shook his head, he still found it difficult to talk about what had happened, the price he had to pay in exchange for that key.

_ If it were only that I wouldn’t pay like that, I had to pay a very high price for that key, that price was Maya, she is half fairy and what the queen of the fairies asked for in exchange for the key was that Maya stayed in her kingdom, that she swore loyalty to her, I couldn’t do anything to protect the woman Lessan loved. Alessandro understood why his brother was so broken, having to separate from the woman he loved must be painful, he approached, put his hand on his brother’s shoulder to comfort him and said.

_ I’m sorry Cas, it’s partly my fault, if I hadn’t given you that mission, you would still have the woman you love by your side.

_ I don’t plan on abandoning her, I’ll come back for her, I promised him.

Alessandro knew that this was the worst time for his brother to leave, the war could start at any moment, Cassian was one of his best generals, facing King Venobich without him shook his heart, but he couldn’t ask him to change the decision he had made, since if he had been in his place, he would have abandoned everything just to go with April.

_ I understand how you feel and you don’t plan on stopping.

Alessandro put his hand on his brother’s heart and said.

_ Do what your heart tells you.

_ Lessan, I’m sorry, I know what’s coming isn’t easy, but I can’t be without her, I don’t want a life without her.

_ I know and that’s why you have total freedom, I don’t tie you to my brother, go for her.

Cassian hugged his brother and said to him.

_ Thank you Lessan, I promise to return as soon as possible.

_ I will be waiting for you, I wish you luck brother.

_ Thank you Lessan. _ When will you leave?

_ I will leave tomorrow, I will be at the meeting with the other generals, I will leave early in the morning.

The knocking on the door interrupted their conversation, April poked her head through the door and asked.

_ Can I come in? Yes, come in.

April entered, approached them, Alessandro wrapped his arm around her waist while April asked Cassian.

_ How did the mission go?

Cassian pointed to the key that was on the table and answered.

_ The key is there.

April breathed a sigh of relief, as if a great weight had been removed from her shoulders.

_ That’s good, I knew you could do it, where is Maya I would like to greet her?

Cassian looked down and helplessly answered.

_ Maya is not here, she had to stay in the fairy kingdom, but it will not be for long, I will bring her back.

April had many questions, but she couldn’t ask any. Outside there was a great hustle and bustle. Everyone looked out onto the balcony to see what was happening. It was the elf army. Alessandro took April inside, he didn’t want them to see her since she apparently had a great resemblance to his mother. He was afraid that someone else would know about her existence.

_Aby, you’d better go back to your room and not come out until I tell you.

_Why?

_The elf army just arrived. I don’t want any of them to mistake you for your mother.

_I understand. I’ll go back to my room.

Alessandro kissed her on the cheek and said.

_I’ll see you later. Try not to look out onto the balcony.

_ Okay, I won’t.

After April left, Alessandro wanted to take the key that was on the table to keep it in a safe place, but he couldn’t, there was like a small barrier around the key that prevented him from doing so.

- What’s wrong? Why can’t I touch it?

Cassian approached the desk and took the key, he had no problem doing so.

_ Damn it! Only I can touch it. - What?

_ The same thing happened in the land of the fairies, the queen said that I had paid the price, that it belonged to me, no one else can touch it.

_ For the moment it will be better for you to keep the key, you will be better with yourself.

Cassian hung the key around his neck again, when he touched his skin he felt uncomfortable, it was unpleasant for him.

_ I have to go, we’ll talk later.

Alessandro went straight to the entrance where he found the elven army, they were dressed in white armor, their weapons shone with a faint glow. Dantriel approached Alessandro and said.

_Here is our army and as promised, they have obtained blessed weapons, effective to combat the creatures born of darkness.

_I appreciate your help.

_We need a place for our soldiers, also a place where they can train.

_I will make sure that they are provided with everything they need.

_Thank you.

Several days had passed since Maya had said goodbye to Cassian, at first she had felt out of place, she was in a strange land where she did not know anyone and she was upset with the fairy queen for having made Cassian disappear so abruptly, when they had been forcibly teleported the queen had approached her, had caressed her face with sweetness and longing as if she reminded her of someone, she took the pendant that Dantriel had given her and said to her.

_You don’t need this anymore, you’re home now.

Maya could barely speak, but with her gaze she had told her everything, she hadn’t limited herself to showing her anger, her hatred and pain, the pain she felt for having lost the man she loved and whom she would never see again. Cassian had promised her that he would come back for her, but she knew that would be impossible, the queen would never let her go.

As she watched her dare to look out of the window, Sara, one of the fairies who had been taking care of her, knocked on the door with her knuckles and asked.

_ Can I come in? Of course, come in.

Sara opened the door, approached her and asked.

_How are you? I’m better. The queen asked me to go. For what? Sara shrugged, Maya had asked why, but in reality she knew, the queen had been making her come to have tea with her, when she had asked her on one occasion, her answer had been.

_I just want you to keep me company.

Maya sighed heavily, she wanted to refuse, but she knew she couldn’t, in that place no one could disobey the queen’s orders, everyone was forced to obey her orders.
