Wayne was about to lose his cool. "How could you call me ugly? I look exactly like Parker."

Just then, Winston strolled over, taking in the scene of Cassie giving Wayne a

solid thrashing.

Winston asked, "What's happening here?"

Cassie finally paused and said, "He called me Cassie."

Winston's face turned icy in an instant. Without missing a beat, he grabbed

Wayne by the head and gave him a good beating too. "Cassie? That's your sister- in-law! How dare you mess around with her?"

"Parker, just let me explain!"

"I don't want to hear it!"

Wayne was beaten so badly he could barely lift his head. "It's not like that."

"Cassie? Why don't you say it again? Go on!"

Winston, usually so gentle and composed, wasn't holding back when it came to setting his brother straight. Even the big Hollywood star ended up running away, covering his head.

Wayne was genuinely confused. What had he done wrong? All he wanted was a heart-to-heart with his sister...

Later that afternoon, Kash showed up. He first headed to Connor's room, where Chloe was already there.

Seeing Kash's serious expression, Chloe knew he had something important to say.

"Big brother, are you here to talk with Connor? Do you need me to step out?"

Connor held Chloe's hand. "There's no need for you to leave."

Then he turned to Kash. "Big brother, is there news about Claire?"noveldrama

Kash nodded. "She should be on Paradise Island now."

Chloe's eyes widened. "Paradise Island? The same place we went for that reality show?"

Chloe realized then. Paradise Island was Claire's private retreat. But if Claire was truly on the run, why would she hide somewhere so obvious? Wouldn't she be easily found out?

Connor frowned. "As far as I know, she sold Paradise Island a while back. I checked, and the buyer is a mysterious figure from the US, but there's no info about him."

"We've looked into it too. The buyer's identity is a mystery, tied to powerful circles in the US."

"That's why, even though we've tracked Claire's location, we can't just walk onto the island."

"But I've put in a request.

Negotiations are underway. Since Claire'sza globally wanted fugitive,

they're obliged to help us catch her. I

believe we'll get somewhere soon."

Connor was lost in thought. He always had a hunch there was someone backing Claire. Whether it was this escape or the kidnapping, Claire and Barrett couldn't have pulled it off solo. He even suspected there was a powerful force behind Claire. Could it be tied to the island's owner?

After Kash left, Connor remained deep in thought. Later that night, unable to sleep, Chloe went to the hospital room's balcony and spotted Connor downstairs.

The VIP ward had a nice ambiance, complete with an artificial lake out front. Connor was sitting on a bench by the lake, staring at the calm water, lost in his thoughts.

Chloe threw on a coat, grabbed a blanket, and headed down. In no time, she draped the blanket over Connor's shoulders.

"Why are you out here dressed so lightly?"

Chloe sat beside Connor, leaning forward playfully. "What are you looking at?"

Connor turned to her with a smile. "Just clearing my head. Why aren't you asleep?"

Chloe hugged his arm, resting her cheek against it, and teased, "I can't sleep without you."

Connor wrapped an arm around Chloe's shoulders. "Chloe, stick around and chat with me, will you?"
