Devoted To You

Chapter 8 Sorry

People came and went in the corridor, except for the area of the intensive care unit, where few people walked around. She got close to the place but slowed down again.

Susan cautiously approached the room and before she could open the door to see what was inside, the door opened.

Mrs. Gray stood in front of her, and both were surprised. And then Mrs. Gray look displeased and questioned in a low voice, “Why did you come over.”NôvelDrama.Org © content.

“I came to see my father …”

Mrs. Gray was angry, “Seeing your father? I think you just came to make a scene!”

She closed the door behind her, cutting off Susan’s view.

“I’ll take one look and leave.” Susan took a step forward before being vigorously pushed back again.

Mrs. Gray looked indignantly at the person in front of her, wishing Susan would die immediately to relieve her hatred.

“If you hadn’t suddenly come to Karen’s funeral to mess up, he would not have been so angry!” She raised her voice with mean eyes.

Susan shuddered, she did not expect this matter to be related to her.

“Let me in.” She said in a trembling voice, looking at the brown wooden door behind her, but just before she took a step, she was pushed back.

Mrs. Gray slapped her hard, and she looked at Susan and said angrily, “Get out, now! You are not needed here, go wherever you like!”

She was hit so hard that her head tilted to the side, her face throbbing with pain. Susan lifted her head and continued without saying a word, stubbornly trying to see what the inside looked like.

But Mrs. Gray grunted coldly and turned to open the door and enter, blocking her out.

“Let me in, let me take a look.” She tapped on the door, “bang, bang,” but there was no movement inside.

Susan knocked a few more times, but they still wouldn’t open the door for her. Tired of knocking, she knelt on the floor and said in a dumb voice, “Let me in … let me see him …”

“Susan?” someone came over and stood behind her looking at her in surprise.

Susan looked back at the person and was shocked to see it was Alex, and wiped the tears away while standing up.

“Alex,” she lowered her head, with a little panic, pretending that nothing had just happened, and asked with a smile, “what are you doing here”

Alex did not have much of an expression, only said: “I came over after finding out something, and you?”

“I …” she glanced around while pretending to speak casually, “come to see my father.”

“Just in time, there are some things I want to talk to you about, let’s talk while we walk if it’s convenient.” Alex invited her.

Susan hesitated and scowled, “I’m sorry for what happened last time.”

Alex did not open his mouth, looking fixedly at the person in front of him.

“I … apologize for Chandler, I’m sorry!” She bent down in a panic and did a standard ninety-degree bow.

Alex took a step back and calmly said, “It’s okay, you’re not like him. You don’t have to apologize to me for him.”

Susan smiled bitterly and didn’t say much anymore.

they returned along the original path, always keeping a certain distance between them, not too far and not too close, just right.

“There’s something strange about Mr. Gray’s illness, it came on too quickly, so I had someone check it out. I hope that after I say it, you can have a mental preparation.”

Alex suddenly stopped and looked at the person in front of him in a serious manner.

Such a solemn attitude made even Susan nervous, especially what he said, which made her even more eager to know what was going on.

Her eyes widened as she listened to him speak, “I suspect that Mr. Gray was given a chronic poison, a poison that is usually undetectable and will start to explode when it accumulates to a certain level, causing a person to fall into a complete state of serious illness.”

“It can’t be.” She barely pulled a smile.

Alex glanced at her and said slowly, “I also heard that Mrs. Gray only paid the hospital bill and did not go to settle the treatment.”

Susan was completely frozen, there was no treatment fee but a hospital fee. She looked at Alex, who also looked at her.

“Someone just came to remind me, you can go ahead and prepare the hospital bill.”

“I know.” She looked gloomy and lowered her head, her fingers kept snapping, and she seemed a little nervous.

Alex looked away and didn’t say another word.

After Susan left, she hurried to the front desk again. The nurse lady checked the bill and reported the number to her.

She blushed and left, but she felt a little anxious. Who else could she turn to for help, who could she turn to if she didn’t have money?

With the thought of Chandler in her head, Susan clenched her fists and didn’t know what to do. The only one who could help her was him.

Susan was hesitant, and her expression was indistinguishable.

When she got to Chandler’s, she went straight up. There was no one to stop her on the way, and Susan walked smoothly to him.

Chandler looked up and said impatiently, “If you don’t have anything to do, get out of here.”

“Wait!” she hurriedly responded, and seeing that he looked bad, she lightened her tone, “Can you … lend me some money?”
