Chapter 1
Chapter 1
"Mrs. Graves, your legs are recovering. Congratulations, you can stand up recently."
After leaving the hospital, Astrid Graves still couldn't calm down from the great joy. She could finally be a normal wife and have her husband Blaze Cohen's kids.
She took her phone out and wanted to share the happy news with her husband but received a provoking message.
"Astrid, when will you agree to get a divorce? You know Blaze loves me." It's from Althea, her husband's true love, again. The next second, a picture popped out showing her husband in a hotel with a hot woman. "He's with me now and won't go home tonight."
Astrid's heart ached. She didn't know how many times she had received Althea's messages since Blaze's grandpa Baxter passed away three days ago.
Yesterday, she slept with Blaze by accident and she thought their relationship could improve after that. At least like a common couple. Now she was like a joke.
Mute her phone, Astrid moved her wheelchair home alone in the rain. When she came back, it was all dark outside. Three years ago, an accident happened when Astrid was on a secret mission. She almost died but Blaze saved her. Although, she survived it, she was paralysed from the waist down.
However, Baxter liked her no matter how, so in the end she married Blaze at the request of Baxter, but nobody knew she agreed because she loved Blaze in secret.
They had been married for three years, and she played the role of a good wife. Except, Blaze never laid eyes on her and kept messing around with Althea. "What's the meaning of this?" she thought.
"Why don't you turn on the lights?" Astrid was taken aback by the voice she was so familiar with.
Blaze came home? Wasn't he with Althea? He turned the lights on while going into the living room.
Astrid didn't answer him. She moved her wheelchair to the kitchen, but smelled strong alcohol when passing by Blaze. "You drink. What's wrong?" She couldn't help but care about him.
"I was forced to marry you. You know that. And Grandpa passed away now," Blaze said in a cold and impatient tone.
Astrid got his meaning immediately. She was a gold digger in his eyes and he hated her. If it weren't for her, he would have married Althea and had their own children. Now no one could prevent him from divorcing her and marrying Althea.
Astrid's eyes were sore when she thought of divorce. She didn't want it. "I know. But I haven't eaten anything. Can we talk after dinner."
Blaze paused when he heard her voice become hoarse, but he insisted. "No need. I'll leave after you sign the divorce agreement." Then he threw two files on the table. He felt somewhat fretful and loosened his tie.
"I'm sorry for what happened yesterday. I'll compensate. 100 million and this villa is for you. I'll let someone transfer it to your name today."
Blaze wore an indifferent face. He was leaning on the sofa with his legs crossed. The high-end suit made him very handsome and graceful.
The Cohen family was a wealthy family which had existed for many years. It possessed great wealth and had businesses all over the place, involving all kinds of industries.
As the successor, Blaze took over Rock Group five years ago. His decisive methods made Rock Group thrive steadily, and his personal net worth exceeded the GDP of a state in just a few years.
He was perfect but he didn't love her.
Astrid picked up the pen but hesitated. "Blaze, must we..." Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
"We must. I have made my decision. Althea can't wait. I agreed to marry her." He cut off her words as well as her last hope.
At the same time, Astrid received a message from Althea again. "Astrid, today is my birthday. Blaze said he was going to prepare a gift for me. Did you know where he is now?"
So, getting a divorce with her was Blaze's gift for his true love? Anger accumulated in Astrid's heart. And she suddenly remembered last night when they made love and Blaze called something. She originally thought it was her name "Astrid" and felt happy, but now it seemed more like he called "Althea".
"Fine, and wish you an eternity with your sweetheart." Astrid clenched her fist, added a clause of giving up all the compensations and then signed her name decisively.
Blaze was sitting opposite Astrid. His face was covered with gloom because of her words, and his eyes were as deep as a bottomless pool when he saw her sign her name.
He thought he had no feelings for Astrid and regarded marrying her as humiliation. Now, she'd better take his money and go away. But why did he feel uncomfortable when she agreed to leave?
She seemed to be a little different today. She was no longer as obedient as before but became a bit sharp.
He didn't like this kind of feeling as if something important was out of his control.
Blaze grabbed the file but found the added clause. "You don't want anything?"
"Let's break up like this. I don't want anything from you." Astrid moved her wheelchair to the window. The heavy rain was pouring down.
"Fine, if you need anything you can still call me." Seeing her fragile figure, Blaze suddenly worried about her.
Astrid didn't say a word but just looked at the rain. Blaze knew that was the end. "Take care." After that he left.
Astrid indeed made a call after Blaze left. "Come to pick me up at Villa 100 of Moon Lakes," she ordered.
"Boss, you are back!"
"Yes."
Then Astrid stood up from the wheelchair and threw the phone she had used for three years into a trash can.
