Chapter 25: One-Sided Love
Chapter 25: One-Sided Love
When Isabella arrived at the hospital, she was mentally prepared to be lectured by Drew.
It turned out that Drew said nothing and treated her as usual.
Even the head of the gynecology department called to say he had received the document.
However, Isabella clearly remembered she had left the document in one of the offices in the gynecology department due to Maxwell and Dolcie's affairs.
After thinking for a while, she found the only explanation would be the doctor on duty had helped her bring it over.
Thinking of this, she stopped pondering, perked up, and followed Drew for their daily ward routine.
"How is your preparation for the examination going, Bella?"
Walking beside Isabella, Drew asked in a gentle, soothing voice, which was like a spring breeze that refreshed the air.
Looking up at him, Isabella smiled faintly.
"Don't worry, Doctor Ross.I'm working very hard and won't let anyone snatch the position as your assistant away!"
Although the other two competitors were also outstanding, she believed she wasn't that bad and would get the position in the end.
"Haha...It's good that you're confident.I was worried you were too stressed because you seemed to be in low spirits these days."
Drew looked at Isabella's confident expression and was kind of relieved.
Ever since working in the hospital, Isabella had always been an outstanding doctor.
Therefore, Drew couldn't help but be worried when he saw her not being her usual self in the last two days.
It seemed he had overthought.
Hearing Drew's words, Isabella was surprised that her absentmindedness and low spirits were so obvious that they had actually been noticed by the others.
After checking on the patients and ensuring that all of them were in good condition, Isabella was about to carry on her duty when Drew called her, "There's a colleague party after work. How about you come with us?"
Maxwell popped into her head the moment she heard Drew's suggestion.
If she went back late tonight, Maxwell would probably find her trouble again.Just as she wanted to refuse, Drew didn't give her the chance.
"I'll take this as a yes then.Wait for me at the entrance after work, I'll take you there. It's important to keep a cordial relationship with colleagues too, but you've never attended any of our gatherings."
When Drew saw Isabella's expression, he knew what she wanted to say.
Hence, he spoke before her without hesitation.
After hearing Drew's words, Isabella nodded in agreement as she knew people would be gossiping about her if she declined the invitation again.
Before getting off work, she changed her clothes and wanted to inform Sharp Mansion about her plan tonight, but her phone had run out of battery and she couldn't make a call now.
"Hurry up, Bella.Don't let Doctor Ross wait for too long."
A colleague's voice rang from the door.
While replying to the colleague, Isabella put her phone into her bag.
Anyway, she was just a nobody to the Sharps.
No one would care even if she went back late.
When Isabella reached the hospital's entrance, Drew was already waiting for her in his car.
Drawing down the window, he waved to her and she quickly got into the car.
When Drew drove the car away, Isabella didn't notice several black Range Rovers stopping before the hospital.
"Madam is getting off work soon, Mr.Sharp."
Morgan looked at the cold and domineering Maxwell behind him and said softly.
Narrowing his eyes, Maxwell answered, "Let's wait for her then."
Hearing this, Morgan didn't say anything despite feeling helpless.
Although Maxwell was the one who wanted to pick Isabella up, he didn't speak it out loud and was waiting for Morgan to find an excuse.
Of course, Morgan didn't dare to express his discontent.
After waiting quietly for more than half an hour, he cast a glance at Maxwell's expression from the rearview mirror and couldn't help but say, "I'll give Madam a call now, Mr.Sharp."
"Mm,"
Maxwell responded and his wrinkled brows showed that he was getting impatient.
Without further delay, Morgan called Isabella and found out she had turned off her phone.
Startled, he wondered whether she had quietly left after seeing their cars.
However, he shook this guess away because it was completely illogical.
Although Maxwell didn't look directly at Morgan, he noticed Morgan putting down his phone out of the corner of his eye.
Seeing this, he knew Isabella didn't pick up the call.
"Madam has turned off her phone, Mr.Sharp.I'll call the hospital."
While speaking, he called the hospital without waiting for Maxwell's response.
With his high efficiency, he got the answer soon and ended the call with a terrified expression, "What is it?" This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
"The hospital said Madam has already gotten off work, Mr.Sharp.She's probably at a gathering with her colleagues now,’ Morgan said softly for fear of angering Maxwell.
Furrowing his brows, Maxwell answered after a few seconds of silence, "Let's go back then."
At first, Morgan wanted to ask whether he needed to find out the place of the gathering.
However, he stopped himself after hearing Maxwell's response and ordered the chauffeur to drive away.
Meanwhile, Isabella and Drew were the last to reach the gathering due to some work in the hospital.
Walking into a Japanese restaurant with Drew, Isabella felt weird upon meeting a full table of colleagues.
"Hey...
Bella, you're here too!"
A lively and friendly colleague waved happily upon seeing Isabella walking in with Drew.
Upon hearing this, everyone turned their gazes to Isabella and Drew.
Although Isabella kept a calm expression, she was a little nervous, because this was her first time facing so many colleagues and she had no idea how to get along with them.
Moreover, she noticed there was only one seat left on the table and undoubtedly, it was Drew's.
It was obvious that they hadn't known she would join them this time.
She wouldn't have known about this but to go to the seat prepared for him.
As everyone had shown up, dishes were ordered and then they started talking about their jobs in the hospital.
Sitting quietly, Isabella listened to them because she had nothing in her mind.
During dinner, she could see everyone bringing Skyler and Drew up from time to time.
Perhaps they wished to match them up too.
The dinner ended in a good atmosphere.
Later, someone suggested going to a bar.
Initially, Isabella didn't want to go, but she followed them in the end as she did not wish to dampen the enthusiasm.
In the bar, Isabella had been paying attention to the band on the stage until noticing somebody sitting beside her.
Turning her head, she found that it was Drew and his reddened face showed he was drunk.
Then, she also noticed Skyler was talking to other people and wasn't looking at them.
Without waiting for Isabella to speak, Drew tilted but to go to the seat prepared for him.

Without waiting for Isabella to speak, Drew tilted his head and leaned on her shoulder.
This frightened Isabella and she immediately pushed Drew away.
Although she didn't wish to be misunderstood, unfortunately, she met Skyler's furious gaze after pushing Drew away with great difficulty.
"Doctor Ross is drunk. Why don't you send him back?"
Isabella asked calmly and ignored Skyler's gaze.
"Humph! It's you who wish to send him back, isn't it? Look how impatient you are!"
Skyler stared at Isabella and said sarcastically.
Isabella didn't want to tangle with a drunk person, so she spoke, bluntly as she was tipsy too, "First of all, Drew is my superior and I have no other feelings for him except respect.Secondly, you're the one who can't wait since the beginning. Please make the situation clear before you speak."
After saying that, she picked up her bag and left.
As the bar was crowded and noisy, not many people noticed the situation here.
Although Skyler was So angry that she almost lost her temper, she suppressed it and changed into a shy expression upon seeing Drew open his eyes in a daze.
"Doctor Ross, why don't we leave first? You're drunk."
Sitting down next to Drew, she asked sweetly.
For today's gathering, she deliberately wore a short dress with a low neckline that showed her bosoms and figure.
With this, she was very confident that Drew would be aroused.
However, Drew didn't look drunk at all after she sat next to him and his gaze was bright and clear now.
"Thank you.I can leave on my own."
Drew pushed Skyler away and said coldly.
At this moment, Drew had regained his usual polite and distant composure.
Hearing this, Skyler thought he was playing hard to get, so she leaned over again.
"Doctor Ross, I can take care of you."
"Take care of me? I guess you wish to take care of me in bed, huh?"
Suddenly, Drew leaned closer and whispered to her ear.
From his low voice, there was no hint of flirtatiousness but disdain and coldness.
Startled and confused, Skyler noticed his bad mood but she didn't ask further.
Meanwhile, Drew watched Isabella leave without saying anything.
By the time the gathering ended, Skyler was so drunk that she was talking gibberish.
As everyone wished to matchmake Drew and Skyler, they were trying to prompt Drew to send Skyler back.
However, they saw Drew drive away carefreely without caring about the drunk Skyler.
At this time, everyone finally realized it was just a one-sided love.
At the other side of the city, Isabella had taken a cab back to Sharp Mansion.
As her phone was out of battery, she didn't know the time, and due to her tipsiness, she wouldn't be afraid of Maxwell if he were to fight with her later.
Despite thinking about this, she still didn't wish to walk inside after reaching the mansion.
When the servant in the house opened the door and saw Isabella was blushed and reeking of alcohol, they whispered, "Mr.Sharp is still waiting for you, Madam."
When Isabella heard their words, she waved her hand nonchalantly and walked in.
As soon as she took off her shoes, she was about to make a beeline to her room.
"Do you know what time it is now?!"
