Chapter 1373
Chapter 1373:
Nana nodded eagerly, her eyes brimming with curiosity as she clutched Madisyn’s hand. “Mommy, when are we going to see my little cousin? I want to give them my toys.”
Madisyn knew she couldn’t explain things to Nana in the way adults understood them.
She needed to put them in terms her daughter could grasp. After a brief pause, she gently took Nana’s hand and pointed out the window. “Sweetheart, do you see that big tree over there?”
Nana followed her mother’s finger, her gaze landing on the bare branches stretching toward the sky. “When this tree grows leaves and then becomes bare again, that’s when you’ll get to meet your little cousin.”noveldrama
Nana tilted her head, deep in thought, her big eyes fixed on the tree. There was a large bird’s nest perched on one of the branches, and she suddenly found herself wondering if any little birds lived inside. Scratching her head, she recalled scenes from television that vaguely resembled this moment, her expression growing pensive.
That day, in addition to sticking close to Madisyn in the office, listening to her mother’s work stories, and watching her go about her daily tasks, Nana took on a new mission of her own. With a small, grass-green watering can in hand, she went outside and carefully watered the very tree her mother had pointed to.
As she sprinkled water over the roots, she mumbled to herself, “Drink lots of water, grow up fast, and bring me a little cousin…”
When Andrew returned home from work, he was met with the peculiar sight of his daughter crouched beside the tree, diligently watering it with unwavering determination. Puzzled, he walked over and crouched beside her.
“Sweetheart, why are you suddenly watering the tree?”
“Daddy, I’m waiting for my little cousin.”
Nana carefully explained her reasoning to Andrew, her tone serious and determined. However, since Andrew wasn’t aware of the whole situation, her words left him slightly puzzled.
But rather than question it, he chuckled, rolling up the sleeves of his crisp suit.
“Well then,” he said. “Daddy will help you.”
He set aside the documents he had been holding, and just like that, he joined Nana in watering the tree.
Inside the house, Madisyn overheard their voices and stepped out onto the porch. At the sight of Andrew and Nana working together beneath the tree, she couldn’t help but smile. The moment was too precious to let slip away. She reached for her phone and, with a quiet click, captured the scene.
As the seasons shifted and autumn arrived, joyous news spread through Johns Manor. Evie had safely given birth to a baby boy—Elmore Johns, affectionately nicknamed El.
On the day of their visit, Madisyn and Andrew took Nana to meet her new cousin.
Even before they left the house, Nana was brimming with excitement. She understood that today was all about meeting her baby cousin. She had prepared accordingly, carefully selecting a few of her most treasured toys to bring along.
Madisyn, watching her daughter’s enthusiasm, knew that El was still far too young to play. But she didn’t want to dampen Nana’s spirits, so she let her bring the toys along without interference.
Upon arriving at the Johns Manor, Madisyn and Andrew first congratulated Waylon and Evie before making their way to see the newborn, who was peacefully sleeping.
