Chapter 1183
Once they were seated, Shelly brought out tea and placed it in front of Yvonne and Nigel. While they were served in nicer cups, Shelly and David used chipped porcelain cups for themselves. Nigel silently observed the scene, watching as the couple continued their act.
David began reminiscing about the past, but seeing Yvonne's confused expression only made Nigel more certain that these two were fakes. They clearly were not the ones selling a kidney, but their true motives remained unclear. "Miss Yvonne, I understand if you don't remember, but that's okay. As long as we keep it in our hearts. Go ahead and drink, cold tea is no good," David urged, his eyes misty, performing his role flawlessly.
Unaware of the deception, Yvonne raised the cup to drink, but Nigel stopped her, whispering not to drink the tea.
David smiled slightly, trying to reassure her. "It's just a small sip, it won't hurt you. Besides, would I really harm my own benefactor?"
Yvonne, trusting him, took a sip. Satisfied, David glanced at Nigel.
Nigel smiled sarcastically, picked up his cup, and casually dumped the tea onto the floor. He was done playing along. "They're not here to sell a kidney. They brought us here for another reason. Let's go," he said to Yvonne. "You think you can just leave? It's a little late for that," David's voice shifted, now deep and full of strength, sounding nothing like the frail old man from moments ago.
Nigel's eyes blazed with anger as he instinctively gripped Yvonne's hand to comfort her.
Shelly laughed too, her tone turning sinister. "Miss Yvonne, you have no one to blame but yourself for not keeping your promises. Enjoy your stay here forever. We won't be staying to watch."
With that, the couple stood up and left the room.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Nigel tried to chase after them, but Yvonne held him back, whispering, "I can't move. I have no strength left."
"Don't worry. I'll carry you out of here."
Nigel tried to get up, but he found himself stuck to the chair, which was bolted to the floor. They had planned this all along.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't do enough research, Yvonne. I'm sorry," Nigel apologized. "I'll call for help right now. Don't be scared."
He pulled out his phone but was immediately stunned. There was no signal.
He tried dialing for help, but nothing went through. It quickly became clear that the courtyard was equipped with a signal jammer.
Their escape route had been cut off.

Yvonne was struggling to stay awake, her eyelids heavy. Nigel scanned the room, desperate for a way out.
Suddenly, dust and wood shavings began to fall from above, followed by a loud creaking sound. Both of them looked up, frozen in shock.
The support beam overhead was breaking and looked ready to collapse at any moment.
"If you still have the strength, take off your pants and get out of here, quickly!" Yvonne urged, thinking fast.
Nigel shook his head. "No. I'm not leaving without you. I'll carry you out."
"There's no time! Nigel, I'm already
dying. It doesn't matter how I go. But you, you have a future ahead of you. You shouldn't die here with me."
Yvonne had sensed something was wrong when David had first grabbed her, but her small hope of survival had pushed her to take the risk. She had lost the gamble.
More debris started falling, and it became clear that the couple intended to bury them alive in the house.
Tears streamed down Yvonne's face. "Go. Please, I'm begging you."
Nigel shook his head, refusing to leave her.
Just then, with a deafening crash, the support beam finally gave way and collapsed onto the floor.
