Chapter 252
"Do I need an appointment just to see you?" Simon scoffed, his tone laced with mockery.
"Janice, have you forgotten? You still owe my family a life. My father saved your brother. Now that you're rich and successful, it's only right to help your benefactor's family. Otherwise, if word gets out, what will people say about you?
His shamelessness had reached a whole new level.
Janice twirled a pencil between her fingers, looking unbothered. "So, let me get this straight, you came to see me because you've finally figured out who I am. Now, you want something from me? This is what this is all about, right?"
Simon faltered for a second.
"Sure." Janice gestured to her secretary to bring in a check. She picked up the check and a pen, walked over to Simon, and handed them to him.
"Write down a number, but it has to be within reasonable limits. Once you fill it in, I'll publicly announce to every media outlet in Greenfield City that my ties to your family are completely severed. From that moment on, we'll owe each other nothing."
Her decisiveness stunned him.
A check?
That was just a fixed amount of money!
Simon didn't want just money. What he wanted was her value as a person. That was because it came with her talent, wealth, influence, and connections.noveldrama
He shoved the check away. "So, this is how little gratitude you have for my father saving your brother's life?"
Janice had expected this reaction and chuckled. "So, it's not money you're after?"
She already knew what kind of man he was-a leech. He was a parasite who refused to let go. And she had been waiting for him to come crawling back so that she could finally shut the door in his face.
Simon's gaze flickered. "I'm not here to take advantage of you. Making money isn't easy, so I don't want your money."
Just listen to him acting all noble like he wasn't a disgusting, greedy rat.
"How about this?" he continued. "Use your crochet skills and make a few pieces
for me. That way, we can call it a collaboration."
Simon acted like he was doing her a favor.
Janice sat back in her chair, her expression utterly calm. "Simon, do you have any idea how much my
work is worth now? If you want an et
collaboration, there has to be an exchange. You're just demanding it from me like a beggar."
"You!" Simon's face twisted in rage. "This is something you owe me! You lied to me for years! I was
completely fooled by you! I should be asking you for compensation for all the time you wasted!"
What?
Simon had left her speechless.
Every time she thought he couldn't possibly stoop lower, he did.
Then, she suddenly laughed. "Fine. I do have a few pieces on hand. Given my current market value, they're worth at least ten million dollars combined."
Simon's eyes lit up. But before he could react, she continued, "But considering how expensive these pieces are, if I report you for extortion, do you think the police will take my case?"
"Janice, don't you dare..."
The door swung open, and bodyguards entered. At the sight of them, Simon instinctively backed away while trembling.
"You still owe my family a life!" he shrieked. "If you do anything to me, I'll expose you! I'll make sure everyone in Greenfield City knows who you really are!"
Janice didn't flinch. "Go ahead. It'll save me the trouble of coming up with a way to announce my identity as Shirley. If you want to do it for me, be my guest."
The bodyguards grabbed him and dragged him out of her office.
Helena, who had been waiting in the lounge, rushed over. "You owe my family a life! You'll never be able to escape this! Now that you're rich, you think you can just throw us aside? No way!"
Her voice echoed through the building.
The three Fitzgerald family members stood there like a pack of starving wolves, ready to rip Janice apart.
Simon wrenched himself free from the bodyguards and straightened his suit while regaining his composure "You betrayed me. And you owe my family. Even if you call the police, I'm not afraid. Let's see how the public reacts once they find out what you've done."
What do you think?
