Chapter 5: The Person Who Gives the Blood Is Here in City B
At the same time, the man who was in front of the car was buttoning his blazer up and stepping
forward. Charlotte fell straight before him. Lawrence lifted his leg and stepped straight on her without
showing any reduction in force. He could hear everyone drawing cold breaths but there was not a yell
of pain.
Lawrence wrinkled his eyebrows and quickly retrieved his foot. He lowered his head and looked at the
woman who was falling in front of him. She was skinny and was wearing a thick, long dress with long
sleeves. There was a livid bruise on the back of her hand which was stepped by him. She seemed to
shiver due to the pain but she still bit her lip and did not utter a word.
And it was because of that Lawrence lowered his head and took an extra glimpse of her. She was
lowering her head and her face was completely hidden in his shadow. She was too skinny yet her
figure looked so similar to a woman in his memory. A gloomy look showed up on Lawrence’s face and
he immediately took one step forward.
A woman’s gentle voice was suddenly heard from behind. “Lawrence.” Allison Miller stooped and came
out of the car. She handed the little girl that she was carrying in her arms to Lawrence and with an
uncomfortable look said, “I’m having a fever and I feel really unwell. I can’t take care of Emma at the
moment, could you let her follow you?”
Lawrence took Emma over and touched Allison’s forehead. He then frowned. “I’ll let Jeffrey get you a
room, and then ask the doctor over.” Allison smiled and replied, “Okay.” After finished, she looked at
Charlotte who was on the ground and said gently, “I’m sorry, miss. Lawrence has accidentally stepped
on you. I can see your hand is badly injured. Is it okay if I let the doctor check on you after he comes
later? Don’t worry, we’ll definitely compensate you.”
Charlotte lowered her head. She could sense excruciating pain from both her hand and her heart. She
lowered her head and looked at the shadow standing in front of her with teary eyes. With a hoarse
voice, she stammered, “It…It’s okay.” She did not dare to wish that he would recognize her. She was
afraid to lift her head. She was afraid to meet Lawrence’s eyes and see the piercing cold and hatred
from them. That would make her suffer more than death do.
Lawrence’s indifferent voice was heard from above her head the next second. “Don’t waste your
strength on someone unimportant, just give her some money. Go have a rest first. I’ll go visit you
straight after finishing my work here.” After finished, without even glimpsing at her, he went straight
pass her while carrying the child in his arms. He left with large strides. The press immediately followed
after him the moment he left.
Allison looked down at the woman on the ground when there was no one around. As she was about to
speak, she saw her suddenly stood up while supporting herself from the ground without uttering a
word. She ran while staggering all the way.
“Hey! Wait up…” Seeing her disappearing at the corner of the street, Allison put down her hand. “Oh
well, never mind!” She took out her phone and made a call. After waiting for a short while, a lofty man
who was wearing a suit ran all the way towards her. “Miss Miller.”
Allison turned her head towards the comer and asked while lowering her voice, “Today’s fifteenth. Did
you get the blood Lawrence wants?” The comer nodded and handed her the thing in his hand. “I just
got it. But this time, it’s different from usual, because the person who gives the blood is here in City B.
So from today onward, no matter when, we could take the blood as long as we want it.”
“City B?” Allison looked surprised and she slightly wrinkled her eyebrows. But she said casually after
just a short moment, “That’s okay. As long as the person could provide the blood on time and Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
guarantee that the outsiders would not notice Lawrence’s aberrance, I don’t care who’s providing the
blood.”
After finished, she took over the special drostitch from the man and rolled up her sleeve which was the
nearest to her wrist. She then pricked the needle straight into her arm without blinking an eye. The
needle went in and out. Although there was no blood, a conspicuous tiny hole was clearly left.
