Chapter 9: I won’t regret it
Chapter 9: I won’t regret it
I'm not a wh.re I don't know how long it took me to come back to but passing out didn't help my headache. It was still throbbing like someone had hit me with a sack of bricks.
And then I remembered what had caused me to faint and I guess it was more like a load of past that hit me at the back of my head and rendered me unconscious.
Also, it just gave me a glimpse of how my future would unfold if I didn't manage to get out of here.
I peeked through my lashes, barely opening my eyes and saw him right away.
He sat behind the matte brown desk, writing something on the file that was open in front of him.
But what gave me a pause was that there on top of his nose were resting rectangular shaped spectacles.
I wanted to open my eyes so much and check him out especially those shoulders, they looked so wide and spectacular in that suit jacket.
And then I almost screamed out as his deep voice vibrated around the small office and tickled me like a feather as without looking up from his file he said, "I know you're awake."
I stayed there on the sofa, realizing belatedly that he must've put me here when I fainted.
My eyes once again went to him, this time on his fingers that effortlessly grabbed a pen as he wrote, his thick wrist that paused and he said in his cold voice, "Sit up, Elsa, or I'll make you."
My insides shivered and without wasting a second I sat up.I guess they were right when they said old habits die hard.
Because once upon a time I had followed his every order without him repeating it.I was a good girl.
His good girl.
I closed my eyes as I dealt with the sudden head rush, taking deep breaths I sent up another prayer to the God above.
Please, make this a dream- no, I mean a nightmare.
"Open your eyes, Elsa. You wishing for it won't make me disappear."
"You never know, mil— miracles happen."
The words were out before I could stop them, except that lisp.
The silence fell loudly, the swish-swish of his pen on paper stopped.
I opened my eyes to see him putting the cap on the pen- at one time those long and blunt fingers had touch pleasure and also wiped my tears.
Those fingers now closed the file and placed the pen on top of it.
Then, he did the sexiest thing, those fingers of his removed his spectacles from his nose and put them beside the pen.
And then finally his eyes came to me.
Those cold greys with the green rings in them.
I knew it for a fact that those green rings encompassed his eyes when he was fierce in his emotions, especially when out of control in his passion.
Now those eyes looked at me like I was the bug he wanted to quash.
"Come here and take a seat.
Let's have a little chat, starting with why the fuck are you I swallowed and gathered my strength to stand up.
I swayed for a moment but I could feel his gaze on me so I forged on.
Once I was seated in one of the chairs in front of his desk, I finally met his steely gaze.
He arched his brow.
"Any day now, Elsa, what are you doing here? And why are you here in New York?"
"Why can't I be in New York?" I questioned.
"You really want me to answer that?"
His voice lowered to a dangerous level, making me straighten in my chair because I knew the next thing he'd say would hurt like a bitch.
"Here it is.A worthless, money hungry whore should stay behind closed doors out of the public eye."I closed my eyes taking hits that I have earned.
According to him, I betrayed him and I did.
And now I couldn't even come clean, no matter what happened in the past.
He won't forgive me because Kristian Aaron wasn't a forgiving type.He never does anything halfway.
If you earn his affection, he'd do anything for you but if by bad luck you managed to gain him as an adversary he'd smash you down into bits and pieces without any pause and remorse.
He was cold like that and I loved it when he used his coldness at those who hurt me.
But there was another reason that I couldn't tell him, because I knew what would happen next.
I gritted my teeth and said, "I am here for a job.I need a job."
Thank you, god, for not making me muck it up.
"Why? Already stopped conning rich men for their money?"
He stood up from his chair and every fiber of my body tensed up, waiting to be attacked.
And he didn't disappoint.
His cold eyes touched my face, leaving licks of fire behind.
"Don't tell me this pretty face and those innocent big blue eyes don't work anymore."
Rounding the desk, he walked toward me, slowly like a predator.
"Answer me, Elsa."
I licked my lips and replied, "I needed a job."
"And you couldn't find it in some rich arsehole's bed?"
"Will you just stob fucking calling me a whore? I'm not a whore!" I snapped at him.
And a moment later he was in my face.
He grabbed my face with brutal fingers and tilted my head back so he could meet my eyes.
"I am calling you what you are and what you will be."
"My mom has breast cancer and I need money for her treatment." I answered his question.
His hold loosened and his eyes flickered for a moment.
I thought his cold veneer would drop but he just smirked and said, "You made it easier for me."
Before I could ask what he meant, the office door opened. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
He didn't straighten up right away, instead like the cold brute he was he squeezed my cheeks in warning making me wince before he stood up.
We both turned around and I watched Kaden step in.
He looked at us.
Well, more at me and smiled.
"Here you are…"
