Chapter 381
Chapter 381
Sofia’s pov
Kayla was literally bouncing on her feet as she kept yapping about everyone of us going out for a
celebration of the success of my launch.
If I were to choose, I wanted to take a long bath and curl up by myself tonight. I was still feeling quite
overwhelmed, but at least the zipping in my ears was starting to ease away now that I wasn’t in the
cramped hall any longer.
But, with the way Kayla was brimming with excitement right now, it was obvious that she wouldn’t be
giving in easily if I refuse to come out with them for the celebration. And, if I should do that, not only
would I be a huge spoil sport, It also wouldn’t make sense if I wouldn’t be going out to celebrate with
them seeing as I’m the reason for the celebration in question right now.
“A celebration? In where?” Travis, Kayla’s husband asked as he pressed his back behind his wife and
placed his hands on her hips, probably to stop her from bouncing up and down. I watched as she
instantly stopped bouncing and threw him a glance, and then a small smile tugged at the side of her
lips.
It all happened so fast but I was also be catch it since it was happening right before, and I felt my heart
ache at the display of pure affection right now.
That only made me miss the Luca and I used to act before something had suddenly shifted between us
all of a sudden.
“A club, duh. We could get wasted and all, you know? To let loose and to celebrate the success of
Sofia’s art exhibition.” She explained, shooting me a look at the last part of her sentence.
I bit on my bottom lip, knowing that it wasn’t totally my call. If Luca said we wouldn’t be coming, then we
wouldn’t be going. I let out a small sigh and craned my head up to shoot Luca a glance.
Coincidentally, he had already been staring down at me and our eyes instantly held. It lasted for a few
seconds before I averted my gaze, and then Luca began to speak.
“Doesn’t sound like a bad idea, actually. There are some things I should probably take care of tonight,
like those rascals who thought it was sensible to come cause commotion here, but that can probably
wait.” He paused for a moment.
“About the celebration, that’s up to Sofia, if she’s up for it.” Luca finished softly, and I was genuinely
taken aback a little that he had placed the ball in my court just like that.
Now, all eyes were on me.
Now is a perfect chance to pick what I actually want – which was the spend the night indoors, to
probably read one of my romance books before falling asleep.
But, the thought of returning home with Luca right now and spending the entire time away from each
other in awkward silence and the entire atmosphere being tense as hell, doesn’t really appeal to me
right now.
And so, I took a deep breath and spoke.
“Sure, we can go out to celebrate.”
Kayla squeal of excitement made me breath out a little laugh. It’s still a wonder to me of how she could
still feel extremely energized after the entire thing we had both psssed through today.
Kayla had been s huge part of the art exhibition today, and it definitely wouldn’t have happened had
she not advised me to take that step. It was why I made sure to give her a note of thanks when giving
me words of acknowledgment today.
I was still going to treat her to lunch in the coming week and pass on my thanks more properly. If she
wasn’t already extremely rich, I’d have offered to give her some money from what I had made today,
but I knew she was going to automatically reject it. When I msg proposed if she’d like some shares
from my royalties when we had still been just making plans, she had hastily declined the offer and had Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
explained to me that she was only helping me of her pen free will, and because we’re now good friends
who are supposed to help each other whenever it’s needed.
“So, which club are we headed to?” Kayla asked after a while.
“We could go to one of mine. The Darkhills.” Luca offered and after a few minutes, we all agreed to do
just that.
“Wait… are we going to a club in these?” I asked Kayla while referring to our long dresses. Kayla
hastily shook her head. “Of course not. I totally forgot. We’d have to quickly head home and get
changed, and then we can all meet at the club in an hour or thereabout.”
A few minutes later, everyone scattered in different directions. I was about to head back into the hall
when Luca stopped me with a hold.
“It might not be safe in there any longer.” He said and my eye’s widened.
My eyes widened. “But… my brother is in there.” I let out, attempting to get out of Luca’s grip but his
hold was very firm.
“Hold on, can you call him on your phone to come out here instead?” He asked and I did just that while
my heart hammered against my chest. The hall had emptied while I had been in a conversation with
Kayla and the guys, some time ago, but apparently, some bad people could still be hiding in the hall
right now.
Angelo came out a few minutes later and I enveloped him in a long instantly. He stiffened on noticing
Luca but I held his hand tight in order to reduce some of his nervousness, silently reminding him that
Luca wouldn’t do a thing to him. We talked for a few more moments before I finally bid him goodbye,
promising to give him a call tomorrow.
As expected, the car ride home was silent throughout. Despite how tense it was between Luca and I, I
still wanted a hug from him so bad, and for him to tell him how proud he was of me today.
I have a feeling that just makes me really pathetic.
Once we arrived home, I moved extremely fast and got changed quickly. Luca was fixing his tie when I
asked him to help me fix the flimsy ropes holding my dress together at the back. The few times his
fingers grazed my back, made me shiver a little.
After a little while, we left for the club.
