Chapter 377
Chapter 377
Luca’s POV
“Fucking shit.” I quietly cursed beneath my breath, a dark scowl settled on my face right after.
James had his lips pursed into a thin line, and he didn’t look impressed.
He never liked Lola, throughout the time we hooked up back then, and he never bothered to hide it.
Travis arrived at my other side and slung his arm over my shoulder.
“What’s up dudes? Let’s go have some drinks, we haven’t had anything to drink since we all arrived
here.” Travis spoke up but when I turned sideways to glance at him, he instantly knew something was
off.
“Shit. What’s wrong?” He demanded. I remained silent, not knowing how best to respond, but James
spoke up on my behalf soon enough.
“See that woman over there with his wife, she used to hook up with Luca some years back.”
“Oh damn. What the hell is she looking for here? Or is she friends with Luca now?” Travis murmured
with his eyes never leaving Lola and Sofia, who to Luca’s horror, were both giggling at something
together.
“Hell no. She’s just a past hook up that I don’t care about. Now she’s back all of a sudden.” I grumbled
out, feeling the anger in my chest grow even more.
So help me God if Lola dares to try anything stupid like to tell Sofia about the fact that we both hooked
up about a week ago.
“Oh, and did y’all did anything together now that she’s back?” Travis asked and before James could
respond, I hastily shook my head.
“Fuck no.” I responded. There was no way in hell I’d tell Travis what actually went down with Lola, not
when his wife was Kayla, who was best friends with Sofia. Knowing how whipped Travis was for Kayla,
there’s a really high chance that he’d mistakenly run his mouth about the topic to his wife.
I’d rather not have that.
“What are you going to do now?” James asked this time and I grunted.
“I’m going over there right now.”
“You are?” Travis asked and I hummed.
“Of course. I’ll be back soon. Y’all keep supervising in my absence.”
I flexed my shoulders, and then I made my way towards where Sofia and Lola were still talking in. They
were standing in front of a painting, and were obviously supposed to be talking about the particular
painting, but it was obvious that they were talking about another thing.
My heart twisted painfully in my chest as I hoped Lola wouldn’t try anything stupid with Sofia. From the
look of things, it didn’t look like Lola was saying anything worth getting Sofia mad, because Sofia was
all giggles along with Lola.
I drew closer to them and easily slide into the spot beside Sofia, sliding my arm around her waist and
pressing half of my chest behind her back. I felt her instantly stiffened as I tightened my hold around
her.
Even after she had threw a quick glance behind her and had confirmed that I was the one holding her,
she still wasn’t fully relaxed, her body still felt stiff in my hold, which made me feel like a huge fucking
asshole, because I know that the reason she was acting like this, was because things were not actually
smooth between us.
“Hello ladies.” I murmured, tipping my head a little at a bright eyed and grinning Lola.
“Miss Goldburg…” Sofia began to speak and my mouth curled with disgust when Lola giggled and
waved Sofia off.
“No need of formalities, Lola is fine.” She reassured and Sofia laughed a little.
“Okay, my bad.” She paused. “Lola, I’ll like you to meet my husband, Luca Ricci.” Sofia continued,
introducing me to Lola like I didn’t know what Lola looked like beneath her dress.
It made me sick to my stomach that Sofia was completely clueless of what had gone down between
Lola and I. I wish she didn’t have to be in a situation like this, because it would only make Lola regard
her as a fool.
Which was really rubbing me off the wrong way.
I silently prayed that Lola would play along, and act like she also didn’t know me one on one before.
Lola, as if reading my mind, smiled brightly and offered me her fingers. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mr Ricci.” Lola murmured sweetly and I accepted her hands, tightening my hold
on her fingers in a silent warning. A small wince crossed her face but she easily masked it with another
bright smile.
Once I dropped her hand, I inclined my head sideways.
“If you don’t mind, Miss, I’ll like to have a few words with my wife.”
Lola shook her head, exchanged a few more words with Sofia, and then she sashayed away.
Once we were finally alone, Sofia awkwardly cleared her throat and gently moved out of my arms to
face me directly. The blues of her eyes were not as bright as I had been expecting them to today,
because this was something she had always wanted, and I had assumed it was going to make her
extremely happy.
“You don’t seem all that happy.” I murmured. I was about to reach out and run my fingers over her
cheeks, but refrained from doing that because we were in public, and a lot of people – including
paparazzis, were currently looking at us.
She blinked a little, it was like she hadn’t expected me to say that. “What? I am happy.” She responded,
but didn’t sound like she actually believed those words herself.
She blinked once again and clasped her hands together. “Thank you for giving me this.”
She glanced around for a few moments before continuing. “I’m really, really grateful, because this
means a whole lot to me.”
The fact that the actual reason as to why I had agreed to this in the first place, was out of guilt, and that
piece of information in my head wasn’t making me feel good right now, especially seeing as the reason
why I had been feeling guilty in the first place, arrived here today.
“Of course. It’s nothing. You don’t have to keep thanking me for it.” I reassured but she shook her head.
“I know. But I want to.”
I was about to say something else when a few guards rushed to my side, heads bowed in respect. The
start worry on their face gave them away, even before they spoke.
“Boss, we have a problem.”
