Chapter 1714
What she didn't know was that Trevor had other intentions. Right then, Veronica felt guilty about his forbearance and understanding. She even felt that Victoria's departure without saying a word seemed somewhat capricious, so she spoke up.
"Trevor, thank you! We have Victoria as our only child. She's been spoiled since she was a kid. She's too willful. Please forgive her if there's any inconvenience caused!"
Deep down, just like Aunt Amanda, she hoped that the two of them could have a good ending. Especially after they were married and had been through a lot, she subconsciously felt that the two of them were compatible and could not help but feel sorry for their loss.
With a faint smile, Trevor said nothing.
Time flew by like a shuttle. Without anyone noticing, another three months had passed.
Having carried out charitable deeds in different places, many of the villagers were poor beyond imagination, while being so isolated from the outside world. It was in line with Victoria's thoughts. Every day, she was so busy that she did not have to deliberately control herself, nor did she have the equipment and privilege of communicating with the outside world. No matter how difficult it was, she would send a courier to her family once every half a month. Sometimes it was something unique, sometimes it was just a card or a few photos. In addition to reporting that she was safe, Victoria wanted her family to gradually get used to her distancing and not being able to hear anything from her.
During the busy trip, she worked so hard that the pain in her heart would dissipate, allowing her to have a brief period of peace.
Yet, she was not a person who would avoid life. One year was the longest period she gave herself to accept reality. In three months, she learned to be relatively calm. At least whenever she was reminded of the issue, the thought of taking her own life did not cross her mind again.
Compared to the children who were struggling in the mountains and could only look up at the sky and wait for death, Victoria knew how lucky she was. No matter what her identity was, at least, she had grown up safely. As for her parents who had raised her up, in addition to being afraid of losing them, more of the emotions in her heart was gratitude, endless gratitude.
At the end of the journey, she did not hurry to embark on the next journey. Instead, she chose to return home.
After packing up the luggage, the smile in her eyes was gentle.
There were some things that could not be avoided even if she could temporarily dodge reality. Instead of thinking about the suffering of losing her family members and pondering on the unknown future every day, it was better to accept all of that calmly and enjoy her last moments of family affection with her parents.
It was the thought she had before she made the decision to leave home, but it caused so much pain to mention the topic back then. After a challenge, her mentality changed a lot, strengthening the initial idea.
"Be honest with my parents. Even if I don't have a family in the future, I can visit them occasionally, can't I?"
The bond between them should not vanish!
In no time, she would be left alone. Just like right then, no matter how lonely, painful, tired, and sorrowful she was, she could no longer seek her family for help. All she could do was slowly comprehend and digest it all alone. Even if her hand was injured, and she bled, she could only bandage it up by herself.
Victoria subconsciously clenched her fists. The pain was so agonizing that she was about to stop breathing.
She pulled out her suitcase and adjusted her emotions for a long time before she turned on her phone.
She did not change the number, but in addition to leaving a few photos of her doing charity work on social public accounts, she did not contact anyone!
Turning on the phone and seeing that the signal was good, she browsed Twitter. Little did she expect there to be more than a thousand messages as soon as she turned on her phone. Most of them were private messages from her friends. Her eyes scanning the texts, Victoria was thoroughly shocked.
"Victoria, is it Aunt Veronica? Feel free to speak up if you need my help!"
"I don't know what to say. My phone is 24 hours on, waiting for you...
"Sending you a virtual hug. Justice is in the heart. I trust you!"
"If you see this text, give me a heads-up so that I know that you're safe!"
"Do your best! I'm always here for you! What happened? Isn't your husband powerful? Where is he?"
What was going on?
What was going on?
His brain was buzzing. In an instant, Victoria was equally stunned. Scrolling through Twitter, the familiar face entered her sight all of a sudden, her eyeballs almost falling out of their sockets.
"Isn't this mom? Why is she in the court?"
"Why is Trevor also here?"
They were all dressed in low-key black clothes with bodyguards by their sides? Alphabets?
The court of Casterwich City?
Her mother had returned to Casterwich City?
What on earth happened?
The first article she saw had two crying emojis and photos. Victoria was still confused as she continued scrolling down. As expected, a piece of news soon entered her sight.
"Sentimental dispute: A rich and noble lady is suspected of violating criminal law by humiliating "the mistress" on the streets."
The headlines and a photo came into sight. Victoria instantly screamed, "What?" How was it possible?
Her mother was so virtuous and gentle, and her father loved her as much as his life. Even if she was his biological daughter, she couldn't compete with her mom for her
father's love. How could her father
cheat on her mother? How could he have a mistress?
She couldn't believe it. Victoria clicked on more articles.
"The legal wife has stripped the mistress' clothes off on the street, is suspected of
conducting an insult and is detained."
"A secret of the rich and powerful family behind its glorious outlook. The rich
couple is exposed to have secretly divorced."
"Law and Humanity: Virtue and Law. Sentenced to more than five years?"
Several photos appeared one after another with all kinds of comments written, but every news photo was taken with Veronica appearing at the door of the court. Veronica's
expression was solemn, but except for those at the door of the court, the so-called "mistress" andnoveldrama
"clothes-stripping on the street"
photos or videos were not found. Victoria did not find a single one of them.
When did that happen?
Why couldn't she find anything?
How could the mistress not be found out through such a huge commotion?
Did someone help Veronica suppress the news or destroy the evidence?
Who was the mistress?
Was there a need to hide such shamelessness?
How could her mother do such a thing? How far could she have gone for her to be accused? Where did the shameless mistress come from? It would not be serious so as to pretend to be psychotic to accuse her mother, would it?"
Was there any justice?
The more she thought about it, the more frightened she grew. Fuming, she was increasingly anxious as minutes passed. She looked around and found nothing else. Finally, Victoria made a call while pulling a suitcase to drive straight home.
"Sorry, the number you dialed is not answered for the time being. Please continue to dial again later..."
After calling her mother several times, no one answered. Victoria was more flustered. Her chaotic
mind could not keep up with hornet
actions. Wasting no time, she rushed home in a hurry. Naturally, she would never think that it was all a scheme designed for her!
What do you think?
