And The Daddy Is… The Infertile Guy?!

Chapter 57

Chapter 57

“What the heck?” Mamie asked in confusion.

“Seriously? Wearing perfume in the hospital, you trying to mask body odor or something?” Howard’s words were anything but courteous, a flash of harshness and rebellion in his eyes. “Or do you think this is some sort of nightclub?”

“Mr. Chadwick, I’m sorry, and it won’t happen again,” Mamie said, filled with humiliation, “I’ve had dealings with your sister Jeannie before, and I hope you can give me a chance.”

Howard frowned in disgust. The way “Mr. Chadwick” fell from her lips sounded utterly revolting. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Especially knowing the things she did to Gwendolyn.

“Mack, get me the intern files. I’ll pick them myself.”

“Right away.”

Mack, belly protruding, bustled back and forth, placing a stack of files in front of Howard.

The air in the ward was tense, Mamie standing to one side like a statue.

“This one, Gwendolyn, always top of her class, pretty as a picture too. Why didn’t you bring her along, Mack?”

Mamie choked back her frustration, feeling a sharp pain in her chest.

Always Gwendolyn.

“Yes, I’ll get her.” Mack, sweating from his forehead, hurried off and soon brought Gwendolyn along.

When Gwendolyn entered, Howard looked up briefly, his lips curling nonchalantly, “Quite the looker, indeed.”

Gwendolyn suppressed a smile, watching his affected demeanor.

This was Mr. Chadwick’s idea of “fair and square.”

Mamie finally lost it and blurted out, “She’s just a rookie, not a full–fledged doctor. How can she be in charge of a VIP like you?”

“Zip it,” Mack warned, displeased.

“Gwendolyn.” Howard’s eyes were dark, his thin lips carrying a hint of a smile, “This lady’s perfume is too strong, disinfeet her with some alcohol, will you?”

“Sure thing.” A sweet satisfaction flooded Gwendolyn as she spritzed Mamie liberally with alcohol.

Gwendolyn, you…

“What a tramp,” Mamie thought, “Always flirting with men.”

Everyone out, she can stay.” Howard commanded.

Alright. Mamie, let’s go.” Mack pulled Mamie out the door. What a disgrace, wearing perfume. Was she that desperate for a man?

Once they left, Gwendolyn couldn’t help but laugh.

“Feeling good?” he asked quietly.

“Yeah,” She nodded, “Mr. Chadwick, were you sticking up for me?”

“What else?” He leaned against the bedpost, his hospital gown partly unbuttoned, revealing his sexy skin, “If I hadn’t shown up, they would’ve walked all over you!”

“No way. I’ll beat her in next Monday’s assessment.”

“I’ll be watching.”

After Mamie stormed out of the ward, she couldn’t contain her anger and vented in the class group chat, “Gwendolyn’s fallen low, hooking up with some rich, influential patient in the hospital, probably found herself another sugar daddy. And I heard it’s someone from the Chadwick family.”

“Appearances can be deceiving, huh? Didn’t think she was so easy behind her saintly. facade.”

The class group chat quickly erupted with messages.

“She’s climbed the social ladder, even left the class group.”

“Did you hear the Scotts are going bankrupt? Is that true?”

Mamie tapped on her phone screen, saying, “Wouldn’t be surprised if it was Gwendolyn getting her rich old man to do it. Scott’s so generous. If it were me, I’d make sure Gwendolyn paid.”

After her rant, seeing everyone trash–talk Gwendolyn made her feel better.

Come next week’s internship assessment, she’d make sure Gwendolyn was out.

At the Chadwick Manor.

Bainbridge double–checked the news from the hospital, asking, “Is it really organ failure? He won’t last a month?”

“Mr. Bainbridge, it’s the absolute truth.”

Bainbridge was over the moon, barely containing his glee.

“Howard thought he could fool me with a food poisoning excuse”
