Chapter 28
NATHAN POV
I could see that Ella was a little scared of me at the moment. I did come across as scary and intimidating to her, but I didn't care right now. She was fighting me to try to get back to Wendy so I stopped dragging her and I pulled her to the front of me where I could bend down and I hoisted her up over my shoulder. I knew that it wasn't comfortable for my little mate, I could feel her ribs digging into my shoulder. I hope I wasn't leaving bruises on her but I needed to get her away from everyone so I could explain everything to her. No matter how much she screamed and struggled to get down, I could feel her sadness seeping out of her like a flood gate about to burst. It was too painful for me to feel anymore. I couldn't take it. It was breaking my heart.
I walked around the chevy and put Ella in the passenger seat of a brand new souped up dodge charger and I did up the seat belt around her.
I ran around to the driver's side and got in the car and started the ignition, hearing the engine roar to life.
"Where the hell are we going?" Ella demanded, the panic in her voice very evident as she spoke.
"We're going to the forest." I said. But she looked behind us to where our houses were and the forest that was behind our houses. I knew that she didn't understand why I didn't just take her there. But I needed to get away from there. Away from the houses, away from Wendy and away from my family.
I was going to take her to the woods where she saw Tristan and myself as wolves that day. The mystical forest that seemed to have a power to calm werewolves and heal their wounds. Something that we've never found, except for here in Alaska.
That is where Tristan and I would always shift and go running when we were feeling exhausted or the full moon's effects were draining us too much.
"There is too much drama back there. And we need to discuss the truth about our obsession with you." I said, as I hit the gas of the car and it started speeding along the road that led away from town.
Ella was sitting in the chair like a statue. Like she was too scared to even move. I could sense her fear, and I knew that it was only going to get worse from here.
I looked down at her stomach and saw that she was breathing a little funny. I didn't feel any of her ribs break, I probably just bruised them. But even that felt like I just punished myself in the face. I was ready to punch myself in the fucking face for doing that.noveldrama
Suddenly a figure ran out from the woods and stopped in the middle of the road, causing me to slam on the brakes right before I hit him.
"Tristan." Ella whispered, staring at him in the middle of the road. He was staring at us, his eyes were as black as night and we knew what we had to do.
Ella was still looking at Tristan in shock, wondering how he got to where we were so fast. But after we both looked at each other for a second, we knew that the time was now.
I got out of the car and walked up next to Tristan.
Ella slowly opened the door of the car and she stepped out as well. She closed the door and she walked towards the front of the car really slowly and she was holding onto the car while she was walking.
She was also glancing towards the woods by the road, probably wondering if she would be able to make a run for it if she needed to.
"Ella. You need to understand us." Tristan said. But she stood there not saying a word.
Tristan and I looked at each other again before we nodded our heads and then we heard our bones breaking and rearranging until we hand shifted into our large black wolves.
"Holy shit. I'm dreaming. This must be a dream." Ella said. But then we saw her eyes change color slightly. Only very slightly. We could tell that her wolf was talking to her. Probably letting her know that this wasn't a dream.
"I'm a wolf too?" Ella asked. And I nodded my head slightly as she looked at me. "Ava. Ava is one of you. She says that we can't shift yet." She continued. Still holding onto the car pretty tightly like she was going to faint or something.
Ella started shaking her head and backing away from us. She turned around and it looked like she was going to start walking back towards town, not wanting to accept what she just saw. But she only got half way down the car when she stopped.
She turned back around and looked at us with a familiarity in her eyes.
"You two were the wolves in the woods. The ones that I was playing with." Ella finally said. The realization finally hit her and her expression changed. "I knew there was something weird about those wolves." She said.
I shifted back into my human form and I was well aware that I was naked. Ella looked a little embarrassed, but I walked straight over to her without saying anything and I cupped her face and kissed her on the mouth.
"You can't control yourself when you see us, can you? You want us even more when we touch you." I said. And Ella looked up at me like she finally realized that it was all true. But she still looked really confused. I wish there was just a simple way to tell her everything.
"It's your wolf Ella. Ava is telling you that we are meant to be together." I explained.
"I don't know what that means." Ella whispered.
"It means that you are our mate. We were made for each other. We were always
meant to be together." I said.
"Soulmate." She said, like something had just clicked for her.
"Yeah. You're our soulmate."
"Both of you?" She asked, skeptically.
"Yeah. Because we're identical twins. We were always destined to have the same mate because we are practically the same person." I said. And she looked between myself and Tristan. Trying to wrap her head around everything.
I saw Ella shiver in the cold, but I wasn't sure if it was the cold that did it or if it was being close to Tristan and myself. Being in this situation. I know that it had to be pretty intense on her right now.
Everything she thought she knew was a lie. We just stopped a massive bomb shell on her and she was trying to wrap her head around it. Plus, finally realizing why we had such an attraction to each other. She didn't feel the full weight of the mate bond because she wasn't 18 yet. But we did. And we knew from the second we saw her that she was ours. We just needed her to finally accept us.
But I knew that the idea of twins had to be a big adjustment for her. I mean, this isn't something that you see every day. In the human world, twins don't share partners. Alpha's definitely don't share mates. But twins are different, and we don't get jealous. She belonged to both of us. And we knew that. She was the one that had to find a way to accept it. And we were going to do everything we could to help her. She wasn't going to deal with this alone. We were going to be there every step of the way.
She probably wasn't expecting anything like that. I mean, she's always been told that she was never good enough for anything or anyone. But here we were, telling her that she was everything to us. We knew that it would be hard for her to believe, but I swore to make it my mission to make her believe. Every day I will make her believe.
Tristan had also shifted back to his human self and he walked over to where we were standing and he reached over and touched her chest. We could hear Ava in her mind, purring, causing Ella to moan.
Ella was being taken over by Ava's desires. The desires of a wolf who had found their mate and couldn't hold back any longer. She was being drawn in by us. Ava moaned one more time as Tristan leaned down to kiss her very slowly and gently as well.
