Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

KNIGHT

“Nirvana, unless you wanna be late for our flight, you need to hurry up, sweetheart.”

She’d been in the bathroom for the last ten minutes. I had to go with her plans since she wanted to experience a regular flight without a portal.

I picked up the book Alpha Frye gave us and tore off the wrapper. I might as well read a book while waiting.

Nirvana didn’t usually take time in the bathroom, but this was my life now. A little patience for my wife wouldn’t do any damage.

“Just a minute!” my wife said. It sounded surreal. I was still wrapping my head around that I was married to the most amazing person I’d ever met.

The wedding band around my finger and my father’s ring caught my eye. My father’s ring was an heirloom with a head of a wolf engraved on it, and I felt proud that I got the chance to wear it.

I opened the book. Evelyn was not joking. It still looked old, though, and it had been translated into English. I found the page that said something about the Guardian. It had a short description of the spirit, the power, and the weakness.

“The strength of a thousand wolves. Amazing.” I hadn’t seen what she could do, but after what happened with Travis’ car and how she punched the ground and sent the werewolves flying, I knew what devastation she could do if she used that strength. “The power came from within- from the balance of the light and the dark of its heart. What the fuck does that even mean?”

I flipped to the next page. There was an old drawing of the dagger. So, what Dylan said was true.

“The weapon of the light. The Blood Dagger of Katzius. The only weapon that carries a certain power wielded by a powerful warlock, and only one bloodline could wield it with the use of the blood of the creatures.” So, Katzius created the dagger and not Cyrius.

Everything that we were fighting for became clear to me.

I closed the book and drew a deep breath. What responsibility she had given was more significant than any of us where all the fates of the supernatural beings lay in her hand.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

“Wait a minute,” I said to myself. Sophie saw Cyrius’s fate. Does that mean Nirvana can kill Cyrius and win the war?”

Looking at Nirvana, I thought she was too young to handle and carry such a burden. I didn’t know how she dealt with all of this, but she seemed to be keeping it all together and waking up with a beautiful smile every day. Since Cyrius was unpredictable and had a diabolical goal, he could attack us whenever we least expected.

I opened the book again and went to the next page. It was better that I knew something we could do against that evil. It said in a book that when he began creating his underling, which they called servant, it was the time he gained certain power. He must be dealt with before he creates a cocoon in the ley line of the energy source.

“It was when he would transform into the most powerful evil anyone ever faced. Wow.”

As I read on, goosebumps erupted all over my skin. “The only way to stop this malevolent is the Guardian. She must act and stab the dagger into his chest. Okay. The effect would be cataclysmic, and none could ever survive. The Guardian will be reborn to the next mortal vessel- What?” With wide eyes, I reread the same line over and over again. “No, no, no. This is bullshit.”

“What’s bullshit?”

I sucked in a breath and was startled by Nirvana’s voice. She looked devastatingly beautiful, making my heart race and beat a thousand more.

“What’s wrong? You look pale.” She cupped my face, and my chest clenched when the realization hit me. So I was going to lose her to fight this evil?

Crestfallen, I stared at her in disbelief. “No fucking way.”

“Baby, what’s going on?” Those eyes. Damn, those blue eyes. When she called me baby, it should give me a flutter in my stomach, but not this time- it pierced through my heart. The searing agony felt like she just tore my heart off my chest. My wolf howled inside me.

“So you’re gonna leave me devastated with a broken heart?” My words tagged broken strings of my heart.

She blinked off in shock. “What the hell are you talking about?”

I swallowed hard as I showed her the book.

“What is that?” Her voice shook, but she seemed not even surprised, and when I saw the pain in her eyes, it hit me. She already knew it.

“Fuck, Nirvana! When are you going to tell me?”

She jumped at my voice echoing the room. Then it fell quiet. “Knight, calm down.” Her hands hung in the air as she tried to touch me.

“No!” I felt my eyes glow. My skin burned, and my fangs tickled in my gums. “You can’t die!”

Her eyes widened in both shock and terror as she seemed rooted to the ground, unable to move, but her body began to tremble.

With my wolf taking over me, I heard the sickening sound of my bone crunching. Scuffling, my skin sprouted hair, and my face began to deform and form a snout.

With my claws extending and clothes tearing and shredding on the floor, thuds and grunts followed. A feral growl erupted from my chest, and I was already in my four-legged form.

My eyes narrowed at her, and I snarled my fangs out. The intense, inexplicable emotions stirred something deep within me. I howled and let the echoes of agony rack my entire body, only adding to my rage.

One moment, I stood before her, and the next thing I knew, I bolted out of the house and ran through the woods.

Fueled by rage and a broken heart, I felt the adrenaline rush in my blood. The pumping of my heart caused more pain than strength- the kind was a soul-crushing kind of pain, knowing that I could lose her at any moment.

My paws thudded against the earth, and I felt the wind rustling against my fur. I passed by trees in a blur. My muscles worked, and I scented nothing but forest and sorrow and let the tears run down my face.

Why her?

Why me?

Why us?

What did we do to feel such loss and pain? She didn’t deserve all of this. I didn’t deserve this. I blamed the Goddess, her bloodline, and that son of a bitch Cyrius.

I blamed her.

I blamed myself.

Anger, hate, rage, and a thousand more emotions crashed into me like a tidal wave, each drowning me until I realized I was falling.

My eyes went wide as I sucked in a sharp breath. My throat was too tight to swallow. My body felt weightless.

I scrambled to claw my way up, defying gravity, but it was too late. I watched the edge in slow motion, getting far from my sight.

I would die with so much pain in my chest, and it was too late. I closed my eyes and let my last breath for my wife and let my heart beat one last time for my mate.
