Agreement Behind Her Marriage

Obligation

Apart from the project they were working on in class, Brian would be Lily and Danica’s first client as interior designers. She will therefore see her young friend more frequently.

Although Lily believed Brian was the person who dealt her the final blow and caused her to stop studying, she knew he was the safest among his friends.

He sat seriously on the other side of the table, giving her a scrutinizing look.

“He purchased an apartment close to his agency. Lily, I truly wanted to help him.” Danica stared at her with her hands clasped together to give the impression that she was sincerely hoping that it was okay with her.

“Babe, perhaps I can ask someone to help me decorate it. Aren’t you working on another project?” stated Brian, who was clearly anxious to meet Lily.

Danica made a pouty face. “Eh, I wanted to help you, and aren’t you proud that I will set up your future home-Lily and I will take care of that; we already made an agreement about it.”

“But…” Her boyfriend’s jaw clenched, holding back whatever he had in mind.

“Perhaps your boyfriend was just worried because it will fill up our schedule,” Lily interrupted with a serious tone.

“That’s right!”

“Hmph! Don’t you trust me?” asked Danica, who was always showing her cutesy voice.

“Of course not, babe. It’s just…” Brian took his glance at her, which made Lily slightly raise her eyebrow.

Danica exchanged her glances with the two of them. “Do you know, Lily?”

“No! I don’t know her!” Brian quickly denied it.

Lily could see Brian’s throat gulping, adding to her amusement. She could smell the man’s intense anxiety with her presence around. She was curious as to why. Is this how Drew manipulates the feelings of those he toys around with?

“Macchiato for Danica!” a server called out from behind the counter, leading Danica to briefly leave their side.

“Ooops! There’s our coffee!”

The young woman quickly stood up towards the counter. Brian seized Lily’s arm and yanked her in close, but not so close that they could attract undue attention from others. Nevertheless, it alarmed Orion. She gave him a knowing glance while indicating, ‘I’m fine.’

“Stay away from my girlfriend, Lily! I’m warning you!” Brian whispered in a warning tone, while his eyes were threatening.

She pushed his hand away, gripping her frail arm. “What if I don’t want to? Danica has been a wonderful friend and classmate, and I did nothing wrong with her. If anyone needs to avoid her, it’s not me!”

“You’ve gotten bold, you fucking bitch!” he snarled, gritting his teeth.

Lily was used to swearing by Brian and his friends, so it didn’t bother her. “Does Danica know?”

Brian’s eyes were filled with threat as he said, “No! And you don’t fucking say anything to her.”

Brian adjusted the way he was seated. They both regained their composure when Lily glimpsed his girlfriend returning out of the corner of her eye. She found Brian’s discomfort amusing, and her satisfaction came from seeing how uncomfortable he was.

Danica is obviously important to Brian, based on his behavior. But if Lily had to make a decision, she would prefer her friend to date a different, nice man. Since Lily was aware of how evil Kenneth’s friends were, Danica should avoid becoming intimately acquainted with any of them.

Danica sat next to Lily and frowned at her boyfriend.

“Don’t be too childish!” commented Brian.

“You are the childish one! You told me you loved me! It’s just a little thing I’m asking of you. Is it bad if we remodel your place?”

Brian was obviously contemplating because of his girlfriend’s sulking.

“It’s better that you two talk and figure this out. I’ll go first.”

She made the decision to depart first since she didn’t want to become involved in the couple’s ‘minor’ issue. Right now, what matters most is that she received the information she needed to know-her friendship with Danica was sincere.

Danica is sweet and lovable, and she would definitely hurt Lily if she found their friendship a lie. She doesn’t want to be deceived by another individual.

Lily discovered her father’s car settling in front of the coffee shop when she exited the premises. Its driver may be seen waiting for her outside while dressed in a uniform.

“Ms. Lily,” greeted the driver.

Fear automatically filled Lily’s body.

“Boss Martin wants your presence at the mansion,” the driver said softly. When compared to the last time they spoke, the way he treated her now seemed odd.

“Did you follow me here?”

He gave a nod. “The boss informed me that you already understand the consequences of disobeying.”

Lily’s throat constricted when she heard this. She instantly recalled being beaten by her father. What can she do? It was apparent that she was his daughter and had responsibilities as a Martin. She appeared to be a faceless robot when Orion prevented her from getting into the car. He flashed a warning look at the driver.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Orion asked Lily.

“I have been summoned to our house.”

“No! I have a stern order from Boss Drew to look out for you!”

“Sir, Mr. Martin summoned Ms. Lily. My boss just wants to talk to her,” interrupted the driver.

“Orion, I’m fine.” She didn’t want to cause trouble for Drew. Mr. Martin reminded her that she still has an obligation as his daughter. She made an effort to reassure the bodyguard that she was fine by saying, “Come on, he’s my father.”

“Don’t be stupid! I’ve been watching you for a while, and not even once did your father attempt to check on you, so don’t give me that fucking excuse!”

Lily held his hand to reassure the man that everything was alright.

“I’m fine.” Lily finally got into the car. She clasped her palm and hoped nothing bad would happen to her.

Her actions enraged Orion, who was left on the roadside to watch the car leaving.

Being safe in the hands of the Martin Family is something miraculous.

Lily received a violent slap from Mr. Martin, causing her body to collapse onto the carpeted floor.

“I provided for you for several years! You seem to have forgotten that I am your father, and your body is covered with my blood! Keep in mind that I gave you what you needed to survive, and if I’ve abandoned you for so long, you’re probably not in a good place.” He kicked her, still lying on the ground, out of frustration.

Lily was trembling in fright; she whimpered.

“You stupid wench!” The man slammed his cane into Lily’s back.

Lily couldn’t recall how many times she curled her body on that floor, trembling in terror and attempting to contain her tears because it would enrage her father further. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“Honey, calm down… your heart…” her stepmother interrupted him, and then added to the fire of his father’s rage by asking, “Lily, what this nonsense did you do?”

“Do you really believe you can get away from me just because you married Drew Walton? Ha! Think again! Have you forgotten what we discussed?! You wouldn’t live in luxury if we hadn’t given birth to you!”

Lily’s lips trembled uncontrollably as she took another hard blow to her leg.

Her father kept talking. “Drew asked me to release you as my daughter. Did you think it was that simple when I had you marry him so I could get a little wealth from his family? That’s your sole responsibility as my foolish daughter!”

It shocked Lily. She was unaware of Drew’s plans.

As her thoughts wandered about her husband, Mr. Martin struck her again. When her father gets mad like this, Lily knows that she will most likely be the one who receives the punishment, and no one can stop him from beating her.

He hit her on the back… on the leg… He could feel all the physical pain.

In the beginning, she could cry until her heart and body became numb. This is the kind of father she had. To this day, she still hoped he would treat her the same way he did when her mother was around.

She was unaware that the door opened abruptly and Drew furiously burst in.

“Lily!”

He approached her with aggressive steps. Her thoughts were hazy. The blurry vision obstructed her eyes, and all she remembered was his attractive face before it got dark.

“I fucking warned you, did I?” Drew shouted; his voice growled into Martin’s entire mansion. He put all of his plans on hold that day to visit the Martins’ house when Orion informed him that his wife had received an order from her father.

“Hmm… did you really think you could easily cut your ties with me?” Mr. Martin asked with a challenging tone.

“I paid you for Lily’s freedom!” Drew yelled.

Upon witnessing his wife bleeding, he wanted to attack the man. His heart clenched at the sight. He assured his wife that he’d protect her!

Mr. Martin ignored him, saying, “Son, why did you think your grandfather chose Lily as your wife?”

He had no idea! That unexpected question also made him wonder. Compared to Walton’s wealth, Lily’s family has nothing. His grandfather had the option of choosing the wealthiest and the prettiest woman in this world to be his wife, but he settled on Lily.

Drew no longer gave a damn about the cause. He walked quickly toward the door while holding Lily in his arms.

“Because Lily is lovable!” he responded to the question. That was the only justification he could come up with.

His comments almost caused the curious maids to fall.

He turned around and gave Mr. Martin a menacing look. “We aren’t finished, Mr. Martin! And please be reminded that I am not your son!” he said before finally stepping out of the residence.

He stared at his unconscious wife while his body shook with uncontrollable rage.

‘He’ll pay! I will make him pay!’
