chapter 70 This is impossible!
Even though Olivia heard Yaron's words, she didn't take him seriously.
The first time she saw Yaron, she knew he was a medical expert.
However, he was still not comparable to Olivia, a medical genius.
Olivia strode to Dennis' bed, examining his mouth and nose before looking at his eyes.
Then, she took his pulse.
Olivia utilized the medical elements of looking, listening, questioning, and feeling the pulse perfectly.
She could quickly identify a patient's problem even without using any equipment.
Generally, Olivia could determine the cause of the illness if it weren't a rare condition.
However, as soon as Olivia felt Dennis' pulse, she furrowed her brows.
Before this, she only knew that Dennis suddenly fainted at a family meeting a year ago and never regained consciousness after being sent to the hospital.
However, his situation was not as dire as now, and a capable doctor like Yaron could basically stabilize his body.
But the problem was that even Yaron had trouble curing Dennis' sickness.
Yaron tried all kinds of methods and even invited his mentor and some of the most prestigious doctors in his family to help out. But they weren't able to discover the root of Dennis' sickness or arouse him from his coma.
The only thing they could do was maintain his bodily function so that Dennis could survive.
However, Dennis' situation had become increasingly unstable and would sometimes become critical since the start of this year.
As a last resort, Yaron could only temporarily put aside his research and return to watch over Dennis.
Not only did he check on Dennis every day to ensure he was living well, but Yaron also had to change the medicine dosage from time to time.
Even so, Dennis' health continued to deteriorate.
There seemed to be something that was gnawing his body from the inside, consuming his energy bit by bit and making him weaker as time passed.
The Si Family even hired powerful alchemists and the elderly from the Pharmacists Association to treat Dennis, to no avail. Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Ultimately, they resorted to inviting priests, witches, and mages over. But still, Dennis remained unconscious.
Not only that, but his health also began to worsen rapidly after being disturbed and messed around with by these people.
And now, Dennis was on his deathbed.
When she retracted her hand, Olivia turned and looked at Yaron, who looked upset and wary, "Brief me about his recent symptoms."
Yaron was stunned by this sudden question. It wasn't until Olivia raised her eyebrows impatiently that he instinctively answered, "He has been in a coma all this while, showing no symptoms."
Yaron got even more doubtful about Olivia's capabilities after he answered her question.
"She's spewing nonsense. What symptoms can an old man who has been in a coma for more than a year have?" He mused.
"Do you clean his body regularly?" Olivia enquired.
Yaron nodded. "Yes. I wipe his face twice per day, and clean his body once per day or once every two days."
"Oh, really? I just found secretions at the corners of his eyes and mouth. Why is that so?" Olivia questioned.
Yaron replied, "Isn't this the natural secretion of the human body?"
After saying that, he suddenly thought of something. Yaron's eyes widened in shock. "You! What do you mean? Do you mean his body is reacting negatively?"
Olivia crossed her arms before her chest. "He is just unconscious. His body and brain are still alive. Under normal circumstances, his body will not secrete these fluids excessively. Have you given him an overdoes of drugs recently?"
After saying that, Olivia stood up and ordered, "Show me his recent prescriptions and medicines."
Yaron was unhappy to be ordered around by Olivia.
After all, he was a gifted child who was praised by everyone everywhere he went. Whether he was at the hospital or on any other occasion, people would treat him like a revered leader.
Yaron mused, "But now, she is treating me like I'm her assistant. Well, if she really is Zoey, then I don't mind following her words. However, this woman is only in her twenties and I feel
uncomfortable being ordered around by her."
"Bring it to her!" Xavier spoke frostily when he noticed Yaron hesitating.
Yaron opened his mouth, wanting to speak. But he nodded when he saw the stern expression on Xavier's face. He went out searching for the butler to get the things Olivia needed.
"Is there a problem with the medication?" Xavier frowned and asked when they were alone in the room.
Olivia nodded. "Yes, Old Mr. Si has been poisoned if I'm not wrong. It's a potent one that was dormant and it didn't attack the body at first. If the poisonous magic didn't mutate or revive, Old Mr. Si's life wouldn't be in danger. "
"He couldn't wake up for more than a year because he had a needle stuck in his body on the day of the incident. Although someone took the opportunity to take out the needle later, there was a sheath on the needle, which looked like a bullet. The thing has been left inside his body and has not been cleaned out. As time goes by, the thing has almost integrated into his body but that item can only make him comatose. Yet, his condition began to deteriorate recently. It's safe to assume that someone has finally ran out of patience, and is trying hard to awaken the poisonous magic in Old Mr. Si."
Xavier's eyes turned dark when he heard Olivia's words. "So he remained unconscious because that item forced him to stay in slumber? But the root of his deteriorating condition is the poisonous magic?"
Olivia chuckled. "Yes. You got the idea."
"This is impossible!" Yaron walked in from outside with an upset expression. "We used the world's most high-tech equipment and didn't detect any sign of the sheath in Old Mr. Si's body! There's no
indication of the poison either from his blood test and other examination! You're spewing nonsense! "
"Xav, are you sure this is the real Zoey? Such words are usually only said by those unscrupulous local doctors. It is impossible for any professional doctor to make those statements!"
Xavier's expression darkened. "Do you think I'm a fool that will be cheated by anyone?"
"No..." Realizing that he had reacted out of agitation and said the wrong thing, Yaron quickly rephrased his words. "What she said was too outrageous... It's not about medical science anymore, but witchcraft! Witchcraft doesn't exist!"
"It does. You just didn't come across it." Olivia smiled lazily. "But it's okay. You will see it soon enough."
"W-What are you going to do to Old Mr. Si?" Yaron frowned and spoke uneasily.
Olivia shrugged. "I'm here to treat him, and you're asking what am I going to do with me? What else can I do to him?"
"But..." Yaron clenched his fists. "If it is a treatment that cannot be explained by professional medicine, please forgive me, for I will not let you try it out."
"Poisonous magic? Does it really exist?" Zachary strode into the room with Yelena and Michelle, as well as their kids. He asked Olivia, "Is the miracle doctor Zoey Xue a quack that likes to deceive people?"
"What a joke! Hahaha! This is the funniest thing that I've ever heard before." Yelena guffawed. "This doctor's words are way funnier than many of the doctors that we hired in the past."
Michelle mocked. "She tried to deceive others with the mention of witchcraft after not being able to determine the cause of Dad's illness. Heh! Xav, the miracle doctor that you hired is quite an interesting one, isn't she?"
