Accidentally Married

Branch Thirty Three

As Xavier let go of her hand for a moment she felt her leg give way as she felt weak and then fell to the ground with a long thud. Xavier who was worried looked at her on the floor not moving or saying anything.

He put his finger next to her nose to feel if she was still breathing. Her breathing was slow but it was still there. She was still alive. Xavier helped her back up and did not let go of her hand until he was able to put her back on the bed.

“Jessica what’s wrong?” he asked worried.

He had never had the chance to experience something as such. His hand grazes over her bare skin as he tried to drop her to the bed. He felt her fever coming up. She was burning hotter than freshly brewed coffee.

Jessica mumbled incoherent words to him. She did not know how to explain to him that it was just her menstrual cycle that was acting up and causing her to hang to life by a thread.

“Stay here, let me ask Roselle for help,” Xavier said going out of the room.

Jessica’s eyes opened slightly as she watched Xavier’s retreating figure. She fetched her phone on the nightstand and checked the time. Her hands fell heavy that they dropped to her side.

“Where is Roselle?” Xavier asked the young girl who was wiping down the furniture as he got down.

“Young master in the kitchen,” she said bowing her head. She wondered what made him look for her in such a hurry. He had always been a gentle and composed gentleman.

“Roselle,” Xavier said entering the kitchen.

The woman in question was instructing the chef to cook something since Jessica did not come downstairs to cook anything for the young master.

“Young master” Roselle responded bowing which the three other people in the kitchen for the same.

“Come with me,” he said and turned on his heels.

As they entered the room with Roselle on hid tail she was shocked to see Jessica’s usually bright face become pale and her breathing very slow compared to normal circumstances. Roselle recall the event that happened just last night Roselle had told Jessica to demand a honeymoon from Xavier.

They had both laughed it off knowing that he would throw a fit and become grumpy. Seeing her in such circumstances made her heartbreak into time bits. Over the month Jessica and Roselle had become best buds. Roselle no longer turned her nose at Jessica and Jessica was free to approach the middle-aged woman.

“What’s a wrong Young lady” Roselle rushed towards Jessica on the bed. She put her hand on Jessica’s forehead and could feel the rising temperature.

“She is burning up, let’s take her to the hospital,” Roselle said like a command.

“I would get the driver to start the car,” Xavier said and left the room.

Jessica tried to protest against going to the hospital. It was just cramps after all. She thought she was saying something audible but her mouth was barely moving at all.

“Stay calm,” Roselle said.

“We will take you to the hospital and you would soon feel better,” she added.

Xavier rushed back up and picked up Jessica in bridal style. He felt at that moment that she was light as a feather. He carried her and rushed down the stairs.

“Angel, we would be back soon,” Roselle told Angel who was coming out of the kitchen to see a rare sight of Xavier carrying a woman and Roselle rushing after him. It dawned on Angel that something could be wrong with the new young lady of the house.

Before Angel could process to respond, both parties were out of the house and far from hearing what she had to say. She moved back to the kitchen to resume her duties.

Xavier was getting worried. How did this woman sleep on the same bed and he did not notice that she was sick up to this extent?

“Please drive faster,” Xavier told the driver. He felt like the driver was taking his time and that Jessica was slowly slipping from in between his fingers.

“He is well between the speed limits” Roselle answered from beside the driver.

“Do not fear it would not be long before we get there” Roselle added in a reassuring tone.

Xavier pulled out his phone and called Dr. Ross who was the family doctor.

“I am on my way to the hospital with my wife,” he said as soon as the doctor picked up.

The doctor who had done the night shift and was ready to go home and freshen up before he had to attend to his outpatient by noon sighed. He was probably not going to go home till evening.

“Bring her to the emergency room. I would be in the emergency room. waiting for you Mr. Delgado” Ross said and waited for the call to disconnect.

Ross sighed and put on the doctor’s coat he had removed and started to the emergency room.

“Professor, are you no longer going home?” one nurse asked as she saw the doctor fully kitted and going towards the emergency room.

“I have an emergency VIP patient to attend to, I might not go home after all” Ross answered with a weary smile on his face. “I was the one who signed up to be a doctor I have to go to the end with it”

As Ross entered the emergency center, Xavier came in carrying his wife. To any married man, it was most likely normal for him to carry his wife but to Xavier, it was very strange.

Doctor Ross who was one of the few who could tease him wanted to do so but the worried expression on his face made him pause and then think about teasing him later.

“What happened?” Ross asked facing Xavier. He should know since he brought her in and since the woman could barely move well.

“She suddenly puked and started running a fever” Xavier responded hovering over Jessica.

“Me Delgado why don’t you go wait outside so I can treat the patient? ” Ross asked when it felt as if he was going to enter into Jessica.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Xavier went out in angry mode. He knew the doctor was right so he went out and sat in one of the chairs.

“Why don’t you tell me how you feel?” Ross asked the woman on the bed.

“Cramps,” she said faintly

“Oh Dysmenorrhea?” the doctor asked and stood up.

He came back after a while with shots and sat again.

“I will administer some fever reducers, pain reliefs, and some IV fluids for you, you would be moved to a ward and kept under observation. If all things go well you can be discharged tomorrow” the doctor said.

Although embarrassed that she could not stop Xavier from blowing it out of proportion she was glad that for once she was getting quality treatment for menstrual cramps.
