A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust

Chapter 489

"I gotta say, your Tiger Squad is pretty pathetic. 071, you're not much better. Have you forgotten that without me, you'd be six feet under by now?"noveldrama

Calliope glared at Gabriel, arms crossed, letting out a sarcastic laugh.

The mention of "071" made Gabriel's face tighten. "How... how do you know I'm 071?"

He instinctively glanced toward Gideon. "Gideon, I never told you I was 071, did 1?"

Gideon shook his head, bewildered, clearly as puzzled by Calliope's words as Gabriel was. He had no idea what his uncle was so shocked about.

"Where'd you hear all this?" Gabriel shot a suspicious look at the bearded man nearby, assuming he might've spilled the beans. After all, he never talked about the time they were rescued, a dark chapter in their history. It wasn't exactly a story you go around bragging about.

So how did this woman know? And what was that she said about rescuing him?

Gabriel started to recall two particularly hairy missions. Both were tough but doable given their skills. However, as the deputy leader, he'd made some miscalculations, leading to unexpected complications. Their whole team ended up captured by the enemy. The situation was quite the mess. They were eventually saved by the Frostwolves.

No one knew the Frostwolves personally, and during the rescue, they were all masked and suited up, keeping their identities a mystery. It was said that whenever there was a real pickle, the Frostwolves would swoop in and save the day.

Gabriel eyed Calliope skeptically. He didn't peg her as a Frostwolf member, but she might know someone who was. She must have heard about their plight from another member.

"Listen, young lady, don't try to play games with me. You think throwing a

ew words will scare me?"

Gabriel chuckled coldly, "Trust me, I'm not afraid of you!"

He started to close the gap between them, step by step.

"You're really in for a rude

awakening," Calliope said, her eyes Gabriel's. "071, your

Let me jog it for you."

With that, Calliope lunged at him, delivering a swift kick.

Gabriel raised his arms to block, but the force sent him staggering back several steps. He stared at Calliope in disbelief, shocked by her strength.

This woman was formidable, no doubt about it. Moments ago, he might have underestimated her, but now Gabriel knew better than to take Calliope lightly.

The two of them were soon locked in combat. But Calliope's speed was blinding. All Gabriel could do was defend himself. Even without

striking back, he was forced into a retreat by Calliope's relentless assault.

The bearded man watching the scene had already covered his face with his hands.

"I told you we should've bailed while we had the chance," he muttered to himself.

Gideon and Fleur watched in horror as Calliope kicked over a sofa.
