A Night's Mistake: The Besotted CEO's Obsession

Chapter 497

Chapter 497

“Uh–Uh–Terry pointed to his own mouth, excitedly trying to express something. It was clear that he must be cursing. Jonathan, feeling annoyed by the noise, shot him a cold glance, nearly causing Terry to choke on his own saliva.

Beside them, Mara was also taken aback by Jonathan’s rudeness, not expecting the wealthy nowadays to act so brutally. That adhesive was incredibly sticky. It must be extremely painful.

Hastily approaching, Mara supported Terry. After all, she was the one who brought him here, and it wouldn’t look good on her if something happened. “We can’t afford to provoke him. Best you keep quiet, she softly reminded Terry.

Humbled to the point of humiliation, Terry felt his anger reaching its boiling point. But having suffered twice before, he didn’t dare express his discontent towards Jonathan again. All he could do was glare angrily at Mara, his mouth sealed shut as he grunted and growled in frustration. “What kind of jinx did you introduce to me? I’ll get back at you. I definitely will,” he mumbled inaudibly.

Unable to grasp what Terry was saying, Mara, in a friendly tone, tried to console him, “You need to rush to the hospital with that mouth. The longer it sticks, the tighter it gets. You might end up losing a layer of skin trying to separate it.” She then intended to lead Terry away.

“Hold on. Did I let him go?” Jonathan’s stern voice interrupted. Mara’s body quivered at this. She quickly put on a smile, saying, “Even though his words were harsh, you’ve already slapped him twice and sealed his mouth shut. That punishment should suffice.”

From a sense of fairness, Mara believed her words made sense. She considered Jonathan’s actions. to be excessive retaliation already.

Little did she know that Jonathan had no notions of fairness in his heart at that moment. He lowered his head, gazing deeply at Reina, and softly asked, “Have you calmed down now?”

His firm gaze suggested that if she said no, he would teach that dimwitted man another lesson. Reina hurriedly nodded.

Despite the man’s offensive language, he had indeed faced consequences. It was best not to dwell on it. Moreover, Reina was worried that the man might do something rash like calling the police due to desperation. While she was confident Jonathan could handle it, it would still drain his time and energy. ‘Better to avoid unnecessary trouble,’ she thought to herself.

Seeing Reina nod, Jonathan finally eased up. “Get out of here as far as you can. If I see you again, I’ll

you every time,” he said in a stern voice.

Mara quickly pulled the disgruntled Terry away. Before leaving, Terry angrily took a few apples he had brought along.

Soon, only three people were left in the room. Initially, Jonathan was preoccupied with dealing with the others, but now he turned his attention towards enforcing restrictions. He respectfully called out to Omar, who was Reina’s father and was seated on the sofa, “Mr. Murphy.”

It must be said that, in comparison to Terry, Jonathan did look much more presentable now. However, Omar still hadn’t forgotten Paul’s words and actions here. Therefore, he maintained a

displeased expression. “Thank you for your help earlier, but I have made it clear that you are not welcome here, as I don’t want you bothering Reina

“Dad,” Reina murmured disapprovingly, only to receive a warning glare from her father. “You come over here. Who allowed you to get so close?”

Faced with Omar’s seriousness, Reina had no choice. She gave Jonathan a sympathetic look and then sat next to her father.

Jonathan had come prepared today and was determined not to leave without Omar’s consent. He once again bowed respectfully to Omar.

“Mr. Murphy, I apologize to you and Reina for my father’s inappropriate remarks before. My feelings for Reina are genuine, and I hope you can approve of us.” He then took out a prepared stack of documents and placed them solemnly in front of Omar.

“All of my assets and a portion of Frost Group’s shares will be my dowry for marrying Reina, and I hope you can see my sincerity and agree to us being together, Mr. Murphy.”

Omar wasn’t interested in these assets, but hearing them being offered as a dowry made him pause slightly. In his mind, affluent scions like Jonathan rarely displayed genuine commitment and reliability when it came to relationships. Additionally, his impression of Jonathan was marred by Jonathan’s father, making him inherently dislike Jonathan.

However, the fact that Jonathan was willing to go to such lengths for Reina caught Omar by surprise, especially considering the astronomical sum of the assets on the table. The substantial holdings of Frost Group were not something easily relinquished by most. It was at this moment that Omar began to take Jonathan more seriously.

He remained noncommittal, his expression inscrutable, leaving others guessing about his thoughts, In Jonathan’s anxious heart, he feared that Omar hadn’t yet come around and might still reject him outright.

Hastily, he added, “Mr. Murphy, I have already arranged things with my father. He won’t disturb you anymore, and we won’t be living with him in the future. So, you don’t have to worry about Reina being mistreated if she stays with me.”

Jonathan spoke with such sincerity in every word and action that Omar’s expression softened considerably.

Originally, he staunchly opposed marriages without matching backgrounds. However, after the recent incident, he realized that social status was only part of the equation. If one didn’t consider the character as well, encountering someone like Terry could lead to disaster.

While Jonathan’s family seemed complex, he showed a sense of responsibility and was willing to sacrifice for Reina. It seemed evident that his feelings were genuine.

After a long moment of contemplation, Omar finally waved his hand and said, “Enough. Just decide NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

your own affairs, young people. With that, he slowly rose from his seat and made his way towards. the room, leaving the documents on the table.

Jonathan had prepared himself to be persistent today, but he hadn’t expected Omar to be so accommodating. The sudden change caught him off guard, momentarily leaving him speechless.

After a brief pause, he quickly picked up the documents from the table, rushed to stand in front of Omar, and earnestly spoke, “Mr. Murphy, please accept this dowry to marry Reina to me.”

Blocked in his path, Omar’s expression turned sour as he directly tapped Jonathan’s leg with his cane. “Don’t push it. I am simply not against your relationship, but whether you marry or not depends on my daughter’s feelings.”

Glancing dismissively at the documents of wealth, he continued, “These things shouldn’t be brought in front of me anymore. While money may be attractive, it’s worthless compared to my daughter. Today, I’ve relented. But if you don’t treat Reina well, I won’t hesitate to take her away from you.”

With a heavy sigh, he bypassed Jonathan and headed back to the room. The sound of the door closing echoed loudly, startling both Jonathan and Reina in the living room.

Overjoyed by the outcome, Jonathan shouted towards the closed door, “Mr. Murphy, I won’t give you a chance to take Reina away from me.”
